The dishonest Tour agency and terrible service ever!!! If you are about to book this tour from KARIBU SAFARIS, please THINK AGAIN and be cautious!! Below is the first-hand experience for your reference: I booked the 10 day(Kenya+Tanzania) safari tour 3 months in advance, and I joined the tour in this August, 2019. Not only me, but also the rest of 5 other people in our group felt super disappointed about the quality and the service. At first, the agent replied fast and seemed reliable; however, during my tour, the agent ignored my urgent message and changed my itinerary without notice and explanation. In Tanzania, they put us into other travel agency(7 wonder tour), and they didn't know our itinerary:( So we have to double, triple confirm with them... It was super exhausting... 1. BE CAUTIOUS about the itinerary and infos they advertise on website: They use unclear terms to indicate the accommodation and tour, for example * "If time permit proceed for short game drive"=You will have 80% chance WONT do the drive. Day 3, we arrived in Nakuru around 4pm(the park closes at 6pm), the guide said he will not do it because he didn't want to pay for the park entrance fee for one more day!) *"Day 4 After depart to Amboseli via Nairobi"=It doesn't mean you just travel through Nairobi. It actually means you will go back to Nairobi airport again, wasting at least 2 hours waiting for people drop off or new people join you. * Private King-size double room with HOT water in Kenya side=3 out of 5 nights the shower is not even warm and even less than my pee. They even put you in the shared bunk bed dorm in Day 1 with 3 other people.(Though the agent promised it would be a private room for 2) * CAMP=In Tanzania side, you will sleep in the cold TENT at the campsite with a dirty sleeping bag, and dirty broken mattress with a lot of footprint on it, and you have make your own tent by yourself. * Picnic lunch=Everyday is the same and we caught diarrhea(1 dry bead+1 overcooked chicken+1 overripe banana+1 small juice) * Services of a qualified driver guide= The driver's license was even expired and caught by police in NBO airport. In addition, there is no clear brief of the schedule everyday, the guide NEVER tell you where you are heading for or how long it will take to the next destination or how long is the break when stopover. (We are always WAITING for the driver). There is NO further introduction about the animals, the guide only told you the name of the animals.

I arrive to Nairobi after a month looking for a budget safari (I was a backpacker budget). After a long research and visiting 6 backpackers tour agencies, Robert Of Karibu, offer is the best price for quality. I asked him about every comment with 1 Star in google and trip advisor and he explained me the reasons, and it was always related to highs season. We decided to go with Karibu. BEST DECISION EVER. The van had only 6 people, the camping had very good facilities, hot water, good beds, tasty food. But the best thing was our driver Raymond, he had more than 11 years of experience, and the best driving skills of all the drivers we saw in Masai Mara. He helped in 4 opportunities to other drivers that got stuck. We also spot 4 of the big five (missing the rhino because it was rainy season). If you are a backpacker, I really recommend you to go with Robert and Karibu.

Vacation that we will never forget ! We have booked a 7 day tour - Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Hells gate, Amboseli. Our driver, Edward, was not only an amazing driver but he also provided us with very interesting facts and information about animals. Thanks to him, we have seen the Big Five on our first day directly and he was also trying to get us as close to animals as possible so that we can have the best view :-) The accomodation and food was nice (we were on the budget tour). It is impossible to describe the beauty of Kenyan landscape and animals, therefore I include some photos. We highly recommend this company !

We booked last minute for two days at Amboseli and it was cheap, but the tour was quite disappointing and not what they advertised. Late for everything, shorter times in park than told, a driver (not a proper guide) who never told us what was going on and had very little info about animals, no binoculars, old van with terrible suspension, didn’t get lunch the second day and provided only 1L of water for two people for two days. Tent camp was good though.

***SCAM ALERT*** This company works with a non license operator #travelwithsinja and are running a scam. They charge as much as possible and booked in the cheapest places to make more that a 100% profit. If you don’t want to be disappointed and scammed, do not do business with any of them. They will block you once you start asking questions. Below are some of their bookings for foreigners. My husband and I got sick and had to book another place with our own money, after paying for the whole tour. Still waiting on refunds

We spent 2 wonderful days with Karibu Safaris in Kenya. Castro, our “crazy driver” apart from being polite and helpful, was the best guide. Thanks to his determination and great animal tracking skills we saw every animal we wanted to. We would definitely recommend Karibu Safaris in Kenya especially with Castro as your guide. Thank you for the amazing experience!

Great company, I highly recommend any solo traveler or group to book with this company. Organization, driver, accommodation, value. Everything was amazing. I walked in one day randomly from reading great reviews online and I didn’t even plan my trip out throughly. I was set on a 3 day safari and the price was beyond reasonable. Everywhere else wanted to charge me double. Please select this company and you won’t regret it

We had a great safari overall. We truly saw some amazing things because our guide, Castro, had an "in" with the park rangers so we could see a lot of animals really close up. He was however very bad at communicating his plans to us, so half of the time we had no idea what was going in, but in the end it didn't matter because the things we saw were so cool. There was one thing that was slightly annoying. It turned out the group we were with had booked a safari of 7 days, and we had a a safari of 6. We had to be transferred to a different car (and group and guide) . While this must have been known beforehand, we were not given a headsup. Our guide was also told only at the last moment. This was a hassle and super annoying and ruined the experience a bit, because we had no idea if we would even get to Amboselli and the trip took way longer than it should have. It did work out in the end and our last driver, Ken, was also very nice. The lodges/hotels on the way were fine. The food was ok. Water was provided.

Our 3 day safari to Amboseli was a great succes, thanks in a large part to our driver and guide Mike! He was very friendly, helpful and happy throughout the safari. He also was very knowledgeable on the animals and made sure we saw all there were to see in the park those days: lions, cheetahs, elephants, hippos and much more. Thanks Mike! Also the stay at Manjaro tented camp was very nice, thanks to the the host Henry, who brings you the best vibes to enjoy your bush experience!

If I compare this company with other safaries which I have an experience (2 other), this is definitely the best. Main reasons: good and fast communication, time responsibility and responsibility at all. We have a very successful trip to Masai Mara, Nakuru, Naivasha, Amboseli. Special thanks is for guide and driver Edward. He's really professional guide and driver. He has a big knowledge about african nature. He can easily explain you every question you have about it because it's also his hobby. For birdwatchers like me I definitely recommended to take this guide. He is also very responsible driver. We've seen many safari cars stuck in the mud because of big rain. Once he helped one car to put out from the mud. Many times went through much more muddy roads and we didn't stuck. He kept the car clear after every dirty driving. He went to preventing check the car for avoid a problem. He drove more than 8 hours in this horrible kenyan traffic situation, no problem, hakuna matata.

Brilliant! We booked a 3 day safari to Amboseli with Karibu Safaris and we had the best time. Everything worked perfectly. Our driver, Mark, was excellent. He was very well versed on the wildlife, and made sure that we felt comfortable and that we could make the most of each game drive. We highly recommend him as well as the travel operator. Excellent value for money!

First of all - National Parks are amazing! However, this was no value for the price. I paid midrange and got budget service. Generically, on the 7D trip 3 middle days are resting. No game ride in the morning before leaving Masai Mara so we arrived early to the next city and nothing to do. Next day after the morning ride there is the optional lake but again quite early finish especially if you dont want to pay for the lake extra. Lastly, again morning park and full day just driving. No sunset game. These 3 days could have been 2 and use the extra day for amboseli/masai mara or anything. Amboseli “full day” is 9.30-16.30 only. Missing the only time we could have seen the Kilimanjaro. However, more than anything your guide can make it the best experience or the worst. Mine was the latter - Castro. I see some other reviews mentioning his communication skills. The guide’s communication was lacking. He was not giving us information. Which made the experience lesser. He was straight out annoyed when clarifying questions were asked. Especially about times. 30 min difference is huge when you wake up almost every morning at 6am. We got very little information about the animals, except the name. Then, he used our car as a taxi as well between cities. The promised 1l water was not given. When asked the guide got annoyed again. Like you got some in the hotel. That is none of your business. I paid 1l water a day with you and your company. Everyone in my group paid budget and only me the mid range category. Really have the impression that I also got the budget driver. Cherry on the top, he started to punish me. Dropping the others first eventhough my hotel was before and making an extra hour of bumping road. He thought I wouldn’t notice but I have GPS and connection. Finally, I was told 1300$ after paying the deposit they told me 1300$ more to pay. It was quite unpleasant surprise as I checked at least 5 times for the price. I would have expected higher standards from KATO member company.

Everything about the safari was simply perfect. Aroni is a very kind and a knowledgeable person. He strived to show us all the animals up close and he delivered on it. We saw the Big 5 up close! The co-ordination, the punctuality, Information about the places were commendable. He also went the extra mile and arranged for a cake as we were celebrating my wife's birthday on the safari. All in all, the safari experience far exceeded my expectations.

    1. The tour van was very old and had no seatbelts, also not at all adapted for the muddy tracks and rough roads. 2. We had only one driver who doubled up as tour guide as well, and though he did quite well given the circumstances, I find that unacceptable as a second driver/guide could have made our trip much easier. As a result we were not often updated about the itinerary. 3. We got stuck in the mud twice and had to push the van out ourselves 4. We were taken to a different camp than had been indicated initially, without prior information. The camp itself was quite run down but I'll write a separate review of it. 5. The picnic lunch for the game drive was a child's meal (in terms of portions) Overall, we were able to cheer ourselves up and enjoyed the trip despite these difficulties, saw many different animals (but that was expected, given it was peak season) and our guide Peter did ok under the circumstances (it had rained the previous day), but even for a budget safari it was not a good deal.

Had a great three day trip with Karibu in Amboseli. 2 nights at Manjaro camp with all meals included. Park fees also included with a 3 hour safari the first day, finishing as the sun set. The second day was a full day safari with a stop for lunch. Our guide Castro was fantastic, with great knowledge and so good at spotting animals for us. And pick up and drop off from our accommodation by Peter was super handy. They make everything very easy and at a very good price. Thank you for a great trip!

It was an amazing and wonderful experience. - Customer Service¨: They were very helpful and they answered quickly to my questions (and I asked too much!). When we arrived the first day we had to change the order of our itinerary because another person who join us had a problem. But anyway, we still have done the same that we plan :) - Our Guide: Edward was our guide and he is amazing! he was explaining to us the whole time, he knows a lot about flora and fauna and he is really funny. Also, his English is perfect and he helped us with everything. I already miss him! - Safari: A-M-A-Z-I-G. I chose 7 days of safari and I was more than happy. We saw the big 5 and more animals. it was much better than expected. I don't have enough words to describe it. - Accommodation: We stayed in 2 hotels and 2 camps. About the camps, the tents were really beautiful, clean and big! I really liked them. Furthermore, the staff who work in both camps were warm and friendly. I spent a lot of time talking with them and they teach us a lot! The hotels were fine, clean and comfortable. I chose a budget safari and it was better than I thought. I highly recommend Karibu Safari and Edward. We enjoyed ourselves a lot and it was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. ASANTE SANA

Our driver Edward really made our 7 day safari a great and memorable trip. He was very knowledgable about the parks and animals and answered all our questions. We booked the value option but nevertheless accommodations were great, especially the tented camps in Masai Mara and Amboseli, these I would highly recommend to anyone considering a safari tour in Kenya. All in all a great experience, would re-book with Karibu Safari when I return!

Karibu provided us a good valued safari holiday, they honoured our deposit we gave them before covid to now which we were really pleased with, we did an 8 day safari and they tailored it to us doing a hot air balloon ride and having an extra day in the masai mara! Our guide was nice and he helped with my dietary requirements I am coeliac and there were gluten free options most places that were safe just take snacks too, he was determined that I wasn't going to eat my snacks all the time even took us for a shop for a picnic but I had a feeling it might have been because I couldn't eat at the road side restaurants, he was good in the Safaris too engaging on the walkie talkie so we sae lots! The organising and communication was good prior to the trip however we were left quite disappointment when one accommodation was changed without us knowing so I would double check with them everything before you go as we were not told, we asked for the difference in money and they did give it which was good. Guide was ok not interested in getting to know us really but did the job, accommodation was mid range as we asked for, good budget safari, communication needs to be abit better.

The safari was wonderful. I opted for a six-day, which included stops to Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli. Our driver was prompt and knowledgable. Everything came together without a hitch. And of course, the animals were amazing!

Edward was amazing. He is very kind and knows everything about Kenya and animals. He made sure we lived the most complete experience we could. He is the best spotting animals (we were able to see the big 5 in Masai Mara) and proactive to propose new activities for us. Would definitely recommend going with him. Ask for Edward (Lore). Go for a safari and come back with a friend :)

We have had a great safari trip of 6 days through the beautiful country of Kenya. We have been to Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivashia and Amboseli. All the parks were stunning and we have seen the Big Five! 🤩 Also the accommodations were totally fine and our guide Geoffrey was amazing. He is very humble, talks you through the highlights of Kenya very well, let us feel safe the whole trip and is the best driver we have ever seen! Therefore, I would totally recommend to book a tour with Karibu Safaris and especially with Geoffrey! Thank you for the amazing trip!!

We had a great safari together with Geoffrey. We got lucky to get him as our private guide! He always brought us first row to the lions, elephants and co.. And he shared lots of great and interesting fact with us. Highly recommend. Only minus: the food on the way back was not our favorite…
