Firstly I just want to say that the staff were amazing. They were extremely attentive and helpful and made our stay excellent. From the managers to the maintenance team, I couldn't fault them at all. The hotel itself needs a bit of updating to remain at 4 star status. Our room had a leak a few times, but staff were on hand to remedy this every time. Loved our stay here and can't sing the praises of the staff enough, but unfortunately the building needs some work. I would be happy to stay here again.

Honestly, I can begin to explain how bad this experience was… If you’re Black I really don’t recommend. You are counted as nothing. I really don’t know who the owner is but, you really need to train your employees and train them to respect everyone black, white, blue or who ever it is.

We are here now, no way is this a 4star hotel, more like 2/3. Rooms are very dated. Showers are tiny, esp if you're tall. We are AI no drinks in your room. Food is terrible, Buddha is supposed to be extra restaurant its closed, never anything on buffet, it's awful food, bar drinks are very limited, if you're looking for cocktails/ rum/ you wont get it. Its a poor country I know that, but this is terrible its upsetting to think we paid all that money for this, it spoils your holiday.& we will not be telling people to come here, we've been to places like this, but we've never had such bad experience

Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. We had a fantastic experience. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, with spaceous, comfortable rooms, with balcony, and exotic garden. Very clean. The hotel also has a wide, sandy beach. The choice of food is lovely. Menu is extensive, with delicious dishes, beautiful presentation and wonderful desserts, to a particularly high standard. The atmosphere is charming. The staff are all great, a young and lively team. Making the customers happy is their main priority. You find different kind of activities planned for each day, and special shows for every evening. Enjoyable interaction. Thank you so much. Canβ€˜t wait to visit again.

The Ocean Bay Hotel and Spa is a nice hotel. The grounds are immaculate and very well kept, and you can see this by the ground staff constantly being around. The same cannot be said of the hotel rooms. Although very clean, they are very tired and could do with updating and upgrading, but okay given the amount of time you actually spend in your room. Food - we were there on B&B basis, and there were plenty of choices, although it was the same every day, so you could switch it up. One day, we did actually pay to have the evening buffet, which we only did once as we didn't feel it was worth it. There is a gym, but the equipment is very old, and to be honest, I didn't use it as I didn't feel it was safe (my opinion). There is also a spa, but again I didn't use this as we had already pre-planned at another hotel, but someone we met had lots of treatments there. Entertainment, if I'm honest, wasn't great, although the team were lovely. If events are planned and scheduled, they should still go ahead, as they don't actually know how many participants there will be until it starts. Many day events were cancelled because they didn't think people would attend. Staff are lovely, pleasant, and very helpful. This is what you want at a hotel. Overall, would I stay at this hotel again? No, but only because it was further away from where we wanted to be as we spent lots of money and time taking taxis. If I wanted a hotel where I didn't plan to leave for the duration of my holiday, then absolutely yes.

Your visiting a hotel in A poor country in Africa if your booking an all inclusive deal do not expect it to bear any resemblance to what you have experienced before in Europe or more affluent places in the world. The staff are all very friendly and helpful if not always the most efficient the internet is a bit hit and miss in the rooms further into the blocks as the routers are at the begging of the blocks my advice is book bed and breakfast the breakfasts are pretty good but from my experience the options at dinner and tea were a little limited and not particularly very good there is plenty of places local to the hotel to eat and drink at a fraction of the cost but more importantly your helping the local economy using these places The bedrooms are fine and our maid was meticulous at cleaning each day I would class the hotel as a European 3 star hotel.I personally loved my stay in the hotel ams area

Stayed on 14/2/2320 for 2 weeks. Great place, nice pool and surrounding, very friendly and helpful staff, always smiling and ready to help. The beach was nearby. Great wellness and spa centre with the most amazing treatments. Access to shops and restaurants nearby. There were tour guides outside the hotel offering trips and excursions though sometimes it was a bit too much. There was a curio/local market organised within the hotel every week and plenty of curio shops nearby. The weather was amazing.

Pleasant enough hotel with nice beach and pool. Music in the evening can be a bit loud. Staff are friendly and do their best. Decent and clean rooms. Airco and showers good once you figured out how it works. Breakfast not 5 stars but fine. What is annoying however is that, if you are not there with a tour operator, you will find out that you will pay between 8 and 10% more than you expected. If you pay with credit card you will be charged in local currency, they apply 3.75% surcharge and apply a very unfavourable exchange rate. So in my case, instead of euros 630 (stated on the invoice) my card was charged euros 707... So better make sure you can pay in cash.

The communal areas are nice, rooms need some modernisation. It is not a 4 star hotel by Western standards.

very nice hotel. the 5-stars i would reduce to 4 or 4.5 if you compare the african standards vs the european standars, but nevertheless very nice hotel, service, personnel, kitchen and bar.

Not a 5* by any means, but the staff are super. Obviously, Gambia suffered no end during covid, and the hotel shows this. The choice of food was limited but ok. Rooms were clean but well loved. It was the staff that made it. Max the entertainment guy, Ibrahim, who sets you up on beach. Amadou, who keeps the pool spotless and Pa who helped us with so many things, Mariam the best omelette maker on the planet .Each and every member of staff could never do enough for us and always smiling πŸ˜ƒ Hopefully slowly slowly, they can get this hotel back up to a high standard that it obviously once was.

First impressions are this is a nice good but not luxury or boutique hotel with friendly service and good facilities. Music is constant throbbing club music by the pool which suits some guests but for others is too loud and too non stop and starts too early and goes on too late. The beach is nice and sea great though you have to check the flags. Will update later.

Absolutely fantastic Hotel. We stayed for 1 week and all the staff couldn't do enough for us, always happy with a smile for everyone. from the moment we got there, we were treated so well. the staff quickly got to know us and made us feel so special. a very talented young entertainment team, who led various activities throughout the day, and are also amazing talented dancers and performers wow! were blown away by their moves. The holiday wouldn't have been the same without each and everyone of them. they made it very special for us. would recommend 100% cannot wait to go back.

Just back from Ocean bay, had a good time good location near the beach. Nice food and I stayed in a premium suite which was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Went during Ramadan so it was quiet which actually suited me.

I'll start with the positives, food was actually good, chef was a wiz with sauces for fish and meat dishes. Weather was brilliant, some staff went over and above to be of assistance. Negatives, Rooms were tired, AI drinks package was dire, wine was grim, vodka like rocket fuel, whiskey apparently like cough medicine. No tonic, no sparkling water, no rum, no prosecco, to buy fizz was ridiculously expensive. No ice-cream for AI. Couldn't use credit card to pay for anything, an addition of 4% added to use debit card. Harassment outside hotel constant to the point of following guests, beach subject to plastic and all types of other waste all along waters edge, so sad. Hotel situated in a very poor area, you will be faced with a true idea of how some of the Gambian people live and work. Sorry would never go back.

Lovely hotel, fabulous staff, room was great (suite with garden view for watching the birds). Could have been more Gambian food. Buffets are always problematic. Entertainment was good, for a 2 week stay a bit repetitive. Pool is a good size and great for swimming.

The Hotel , Rooms etc are very clean . The Staff seriously are probably the nicest people I've ever met . Very helpful, Smiling, Friendly, and probably work for very little due to Gambia being a 3rd World Country. Treasure (His nick name ) works long hours but is a diamond as a entertainment worker. Happy , chatty gets everyone involved . Brilliant dancer and loves everyone. Remember Gambia is a 3rd World Country so a 4 or 5 star Hotel isn't like a Dubai 4/ 5 star Hotel. Make sure you go out and visit places BUT take a guide with you . Helpfully. Will advise , book and arrange trips etc . We used Modue in the Orange tour tops just outside the Hotel . Guides keep much of the harassment to a minimum which isn't begging but just want your custom. Have to say the people there are such nice people where ever you go . We took Football tops and gave them out plus sweets for the children out and about . Such satisfaction doing this and their happy faces. You will not regret this Holiday. ❀
