Dewar's candies is a Bakersfield institution beloved worldwide. No joke. Their taffy chews are enjoyed by just about everyone. Their soda fountain offerings, unfortunately, must be experienced in town, but, dang! They are worth the visit.

What can you say about a little iconic experience at this classic ice cream parlor. Everything was wonderful. Great ambiance and we completely enjoyed our visit here.

Ok, I’m really particular about finding a good milkshake. In fact, I mostly prefer to just make my own milkshakes since I’ve been to too many places that just make average shakes. But I will honestly say the milkshake I had at Dewar’s was awesome! It was better than my own, homemade shakes. You will not be disappointed with the milkshakes from this place. My only regret is that we don’t live in the area - we live 4-hours away. But we will absolutely be back when we visit Bakersfield again.

I never knew of this place. I'm so glad a friend showed me this place. It's a lovely and cozy little shop. It has a beautiful old-fashioned look 😍. I didn't get to try the ice cream because I ended up wanting a slushy instead. However, I can tell by how the slushy tasted and the few candies I sampled everything there has to be delicious. I definitely recommend this place. Whether it's a quick treat or a family outing. You won't be disappointed!!

Whats not to love about this place? I've been coming here since I was a kid and I love that they have let the deer and ram stay. Its still has that 50s vibe going on. Got a Black N White and a box of chews.

Classic Ice Cream shop It's great to see Dewar's with a facelift from when I was a kid in the 80s / 90s. Great place for Ice Cream or Taffy

Ice Cream and Candy Heaven. I have ridden past Dewar's many times, and I have thought to myself, " one day I will try it." I sure wish I had sooner. They have the best Ice Cream I think I have ever eaten. But, Dewar's is not only Ice Cream. They also have candy, clothes, dishes and much more. Dewar's seems like an old fashioned malt shop. A place where you go to enjoy yourself and have fun with family and friends. When you get a chance go, have fun, eat ice cream and candy. Buy a shirt or a cup. Talk to the servers, they were all very friendly. Enjoy your time there. For us older folk, remember the good ol days. For the youngsters, learn what we old people had. Either way, IT IS GREAT!

Dewar's is always delicious! We savored our sundaes immensely, the employees were super friendly and helpful, and the chews. Oh, the chews! So yummy and so many options. I'm sure there sugar-free selection of candies is appreciated.

Really enjoyed the Cookies & Cream ice cream scoop! One scoop was an extremely generous amount (as pictured), and the servers were extremely considerate.

Delicious 😋 old time 🍨 🍦 ice cream shop feeling. So many dessert choices, brownies sundaes ice cream flavors. Highly recommend definitely a destination favorite.

One of the best old fashion Ice Cream eateries that dates back to 1909. It's part of Bakersfield history, with the current Eye St location opening in 1928. Get a cone, bowl, shake, float or ice cream sundae.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! If you have not tried this place it is a must! There isn’t one thing that doesn’t taste delicious on their menu. My favorite are the chews, particularly the caramel and the peppermint but there’s nothing better than a sundae at the ice cream bar or a milkshake.

Last night I had a banana split from this location and it was the best I’ve ever had. Sammy was awesome and she was so accommodating and packed everything to go with such care. It’s so nice when I am offered samples and I am treated with such kindness. You should give Sammy a raise.

Great ice cream and candy. We always stop on our road trips. This time we cut it really close arriving at 8:48, 12 minutes before closing. Normally we don't do this but since we don't live close we decided to still go and order to go. When we pulled in they quickly locked the side door 12 min early and when we found the front door open we went inside to place an order. They were obviously annoyed and did not treat us like customers. We left the shop right at 9 at closing so did not keep them after. If it was just the food I'd rate a 5/5 but really the service was a 2/5. I hope the manager works on advising their employees to treat their customers kindly. We've been going for 20+ years and never had this kind of experience in the past.

I just tried the new pistachio flavor. I have always been a fan of Thrifty’s pistachio, however, your pistachio is fresh, contains more (crushed) nuts, has a deeper, natural flavor. It is my new fave. I heard you’re soon going to be testing spicy pumpkin. My wife and I are looking forward to that! WAIT!!! I just tried the strawberry shortcake! It is phenomenal!
