Perfect restaurant by the water!!! The owner (I think he’s the owner) is an amazing fella! We got there very hungry, we were seated in the next 10 mins with our dog on the back patio with ocean as our view. What we ordered: 1. Fish tacos for me - they were cold and not enough chipotle sauce but I was hungry so didn’t bother. 2. Lemon chicken with Thai rice - husband loved it!! Temperature and flavors were all amazing! 3. Lemonade - we both got fresh non-boozy lemonades - so good!!!!! 4. Dessert - lime cheesecake with blueberries - husband loved it, me not so much because of the texture of the cheesecake. Would love to visit the place again if we come back!

My husband and I ate here for lunch and we LOVED it! The food was impeccable and we wish we could have ordered the entire menu. On top of the food being delicious, the view made the experience even better! We will definitely be returning to Louie’s Backyard on our next trip to Key West!

Pie crawl stop #2. Love the atmosphere. Right on the water. Covered dining. Friendly service. Beautiful. The pie however, not my favorite. Presentation is nice but the filling was a little granular and I prefer creamy.

We had a wonderful lunch over looking the water. Julie's experience stood out as she gave us great service with drink and food recommendations. She was on point with her recommendations. The meal and cocktails were five star. Highly recommend reservations.

Beautiful location. My husband and I went for dinner. We made a reservation 3 weeks in advance which wasn’t soon enough if you want to be there for the sunset. Our reservation was at 7pm and we could see the property for a few minutes before the last light was gone. The food was delicious. We had the shrimp and grits and the catch of the day. The flavors in both dishes were phenomenal. Service was great and the cocktails strong.

OMG what a special dinner. We had the "best seat in the restaurant" based on what we could see with the BEST server. Her help and attention was integral to the overall success of our experience. Each dish was beautiful. Our meals delicious. How can anyone go to Key West and not eat at Louie's Backyard? I look forward to my next visit.

Louie's is one of those places that is hard to rate. On one hand I've been coming here since 2000 and the food is pretty good. The bad part is the consistency. Food comes out overcooked one night and comes out perfectly the next. With that said, the views are spectacular and honestly is a place to go if you've never been.

Great locatiUon right on the water. I like going for lunch. We've been at least once and enjoyed the dining and surroundings as well as the water being right there. Definitely make reservations well in advance especially if you are going for a sunset here. Food is good and a bit pricey. The outside dining is the best. Drinks are good, staff is friendly and the Chefs are creative. We will definitely be going back. Urban Cowgill

Excellent fine dining experience even though people did dress somewhat casual - which is no big deal for Key West. Great food, great service, great views (sits on the water), and great atmosphere (kind of like old Key West style I think - just guessing). I had the fresh catch of the day which was triple tail and my wife had the tuna. They also have steak options for non-seafood people. Must do if your budget can handle it.

This is definitely one of my favorite dinner spots in Key West! It is a great combination of upscale and relaxed with a water view. We went during the sunset and loved watching the sky change over dinner. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. They did a great job answering questions about the menu and providing recommendations. This time we tried a few different dishes so we could each try a bite of each others. We ordered: Appetizers: Bacon wrapped scallops - Scallop tasted fresh and the bacon was crispy. We are not mayo fans so the sauce on the side was a bit much for us but others might like it. My husband said that that the bacon overpowers the scallops a bit but this app was still enjoyable. The appetizers comes with 2 bacon wrapped scallops and split that between 4 people. Now for the really good stuff - The buttery Lobster app - INCREDIBLE. Apparently it has been on the menu for 30 years or so. It is not just hype - highly recommend it. Did I mention the bread? Hot and crispy - smells a bit like a bakery at the restaurant in the best way possible. The entrees were out really quickly. My Swordfish was about 7oz and was both moist and meaty. The fried risotto that came with it could have used a more subtle cheese. I also loved the broccolini! My husband and father-in-law got the catch of the day (Grouper) and the fish itself was well prepared but the rum butter sauce was a tad sweet. My mother in law got the shrimp and grits - the shrimp had a smoky taste and they were plump. The grits were creamy and not overpowering for the dish. The mushrooms were a nice touch and complemented the other ingredients really well. Overall we loved it and we highly recommend a sunset dinner to anyone that wants high quality dishes with great service and a view.

We ate downstairs and inside and enjoyed every moment. Great service and delicious food. Our 8 year old son said it was the best we’ve had. I tried his burger and agreed. My fish tacos were extraordinary and my wife loved her salad and sangria.

Beautiful setting whether you are inside or out. Sitting at the bar overlooking the gorgeous ocean provides a certain calmness hard to match anywhere. Marcy was attentive and cheerful. The coconut crusted grouper could not have been cooked more perfect. Kudos to the chef for the flavorful bok choy: tender with just enough crisp. Conch fritters were nice and moist and not over cooked. Pretty special key lime pie with a beautiful presentation.

I arrived as a solo diner right at opening, and even though the restaurant was empty - because I didn't have a reservation they told me to go upstairs to the "cafe" where it was first come first served, but had a different menu. I did, and it worked out wonderfully. I don't remember my waitress' name except that other servers called her Blondie. She was so great and fun and I ended up getting the grouper which was the special and it was OUTSTANDING. The best meal I had in Key West. Everyone was so nice, the food was great, and the key lime martini was a truly marvelous way to end the evening.

Lovely dinner with great service by our server Maria. Stunning view of the ocean. I had the special of the chef shrimp over grits, very delicious! Husband had the conch chowder and they provided a liquid pepper sauce to spice to your own liking, he said it was excellent! Also the pre meal bread was so yummy served nice and hot melt in your mouth!! Thank you for a great meal!

We made reservations well in advanced and were sat promptly upon arrival. Our waiter was intense but made us laugh. The food was fantastic. I took points off for atmosphere as we were sat at a two top under an air vent…the vent was leaking condensation and it was dripping on me & our table. It dripped in my drink at one point. Even our waiter called it out and physically moved our table to try and help us escape the drip. For an upscale restaurant, I would appreciate a more sophisticated set up. Not wise to have a table under a dripping vent.

We were eating upstairs since downstairs were full. Upstairs has a lighter menu and we we were perfectly happy with. Great service and decent dishes

The restaurant and outside seating are gorgeous. Our waitress was very impatient and didn't provide the kind of service you expect at a restaurant with high prices. The coconut crab cake appetizer was delicious, but the ahi tuna entree was way too salty and was served with some type of bok choy that was so tough I couldn't cut it with my knife or bite into it. And the bread pudding was not very good. Pretty disappointing when you're charged $42 for an entree.

Very romantic atmosphere inside. We sat by a window and it was perfect. Food was a solid 5 for the appetizer (lobster in truffle butter sauce) a 4 for the main, and a 5 for desert (brownie crème brûlée). The service was great, a tad slow, but it was very busy. My only complaint was a hair in my desert - like baked inside of it. I asked for a fresh one and they obliged. Things happen and I didn’t let that ruin our evening, especially because our waiter was SUCH a sweetie (and it’s obviously not his fault!). My husband got the fresh fish (mahi mahi) and said it was definitely fresh but just lacked a bold flavor. He said his ice cream was super good though!

Best view at a restaurant in Key West. The food is just as great as the view. I recommend eating upstairs. Jose is the best. He took such great care of us. I recommend all the salads, the tuna, and the lobster risotto.

excellent food and service. really nice view of the ocean if sitting out back as well. I tried the snapper sandwich for lunch and it was terrific. One of our best stops for lunch during our vacation in Key West. would go here again!

I would give Louie's Backyard 10 stars if I could! We arrived a little after 9pm, (they were closing at 9:30). The ambiance was elegant and relaxed. Since we arrived so late we sat at the bar as we were still able to order food and drinks. Gage was our bartender. What a phenomenal human being he is?! He is a true representative of the Keywest "We are One Human Family" mantra. We left feeling like we gained a family member. He was warm and welcoming. The restaurant feeds their employees. He had something that was layered in stacks. I was curious about what it was so I asked...not only did Gage tell us what it was in detail, he even offered to let us have a taste. This was the first time my husband and I ever tried marinated tuna. (It tasted amazing as it melted in our mouths) We ordered Filet Mignon Grouper Shrimp and Grits Grill Shrimp and Octopus Appetizer Chocolate Brownie Crème Brûlée Now, we arrived close to closing so I would imagine the grill was shut down and was turned back on to cook the filet mignon. When we received our filet mignon we can taste the chemical on it and it tasted a bit burnt. so we exchanged it for the shrimp and grits. Side note, we heard about Louie's Backyard from people we were vacationing with, they ordered the filet magnon and could not stop talking about how amazing it was. The grouper was excellent and was devoured before the shrimp and grits were served. Now, the shrimp and grits were an entire experience on their own. The dish was amazing! The grits were creamy with a little heat, everything on the plate was full of flavor. Grilled shrimp and Octopus was pretty good. Chocolate Brownie Crème Brûlée was delightful, you certainly want to experience this dessert if it is on the menu. We will visit this restaurant every time we visit Keywest. You should not leave Keywest without visiting this restaurant!

Had a nice backyard dining experience at this place! Everything tasted very well— and the portions were decently sized but not too huge allowing you to try a plethora of items
