I wanted to share this horrible experience I had recently at The Stoned Crab here in Key West. It was beyond disappointing, and I can't help but feel the need to vent about it. I went to this place with high hopes, expecting some delicious seafood. However, it turned out to be a complete disaster. The quality of the food was just horrendous. The frozen oysters I ordered were not only tasteless but also rotten. I couldn't believe they served something so awful. And don't even get me started on the clams. They were incredibly smelly, to the point where I couldn't even take a bite. It was such a disappointment because I love clams, but these were inedible. As for the crabs, they were rock hard. I couldn't understand how they managed to serve such poorly cooked seafood. It felt like chewing on pebbles rather than enjoying a delicious meal. And the shrimp! Oh, the shrimp was a disaster. They were green and clearly not fresh. It was such a disappointment because fresh seafood is supposed to be their specialty. They claimed to have their own boats and guaranteed fresh seafood, but it was all a bunch of lies. To add insult to injury, the drinks they served were overly sugary and just plain awful. I expected better quality beverages, but they were a letdown as well. Honestly, this place is a disgrace to Key West. I couldn't help but feel frustrated and let down by the false claims they made about their food. It's disheartening to see such a lack of care and respect for customers. I needed to get this off my chest and let you know about this terrible experience. I would strongly advise you to avoid this place at all costs. It's not worth the disappointment or the money.

Unfortunately this will be a bad review. Arrived at 8 pm. Took over 30 minutes for us to be greeted after we got sat at a table. Another 15 minutes to get some drinks. Once we ordered food it was a waiting game. Food came out and looked decent. Once we tasted the food it was bland. I had some fish and shrimp. The shrimp had a boiled egg smell but I didn't knock it until I tried it. I regretted that decision as it made me sick. That was the end out our experience here. I spent alot of time in the keys and this by far is the worst rating I gave to any place. Food is way to pricey without quality.

After going past this places many times we finally ate here last Saturday, and the food was average at best. The location and atmosphere was really nice though. Service was pretty good, but it was not very busy at this time. The calamari was the worst I've ever had in the Key's, that was a big disappointment. We will not be returning here, there's plenty of far better places in the area. Even though it was pretty dead the parking situation was terrible. Live and learn I guess.

We traveled down to Key West for the weekend for a couples getaway from the Panhandle. We saw this location and were really excited to try. Though it was a tad out of our price range, its curb appeal had us hooked. We walked up, unsure where to go, as no one was ready to greet us. We walked through the dining towards the bar area, where we crossed paths with the host. She was friendly, we were sat quickly, but waited 15 minutes to be spoken to. In the meantime, as a stickler for hospitality, I observe the team, their ways, their energy and overall system to service. There were not many smiles in this crew. Their energy seemed low, and the excitement within a tourist location was lack luster. As two people who were absolutely pumped to be in the Keys, this was a perfect opportunity to sell us on the experience of The Stoned Crab, and it missed from the start. I am disappointed in this because it is such a great location, the decor sells an awesome vibe and the potential to be a really, really incredible business, however all of that means nothing without a happy crew. Not one smile was seen, not among the staff, or within the interactions with their guests.

Mixed review on this one. Super cool atmosphere but average food for above average prices. We had the flash fried Calamari as an appetizer and were underwhelmed. Small portion and they would likely bounce if you dropped one! Shrimp tacos were big but mostly because they went overboard with the Pico. As a result, they were messy and kind of bland. The decor and ambience were both top notch though despite the average meal. Pool on site and plenty to see off of the dock while you wait for your food. Sharks and Snappers galore. Service was really good too. Definitely a Go To for the atmosphere not the food.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful… we had coconut shrimp and fritters as an app and they were delicious. I had the cold platter and the shrimp and crab were great. I could have eaten a platter of just the shrimp, they were the best I’ve had. Two people in our party ordered the steamed platters… one the old bay and the other the fisherman, the fisherman one was ordered with garlic butter and she said it was good but needed a little bit more flavor, she asked for a little bit of old bay and she said it was great. Highly recommend here… by the way, our waitress was Bianca and she was AMAZING

Atmosphere 5 stars all day Service… The service pulls this restaurant 5 stars . Food presentation was good too, looked great until you dug in. So it’s a real surprise when everything is going so well and it tastes like they hired a Denny’s chef. Actually I take that back Dennys is way better. The taste of the food was absolutely horrible. Giving the food one star is actually generous. These are not chefs in fact Wendy’s had better meat in their burger than the steak in my sons surf and turf meal that we ordered for 70 bucks. Lobster in my pasta had NO FLAVOR and was UNDERCOOKED …. VERY FISHY TASTE PLUS I HAD TO PICK SHELLS OUT OF MY MOUTH. It was terrible so I tried my kids food the snow crabs were the only thing cooked right surprisingly. i believe that was probably by accident given the rest of the food at the table. Here is what I’d like to see because I will come back one more time at least I always try twice before I write off a restaurant completely. When we come back next year I’d like to see them hire and spend some money on actual real experienced chefs because we obviously are willing to pay for a good meal or this place would be completely empty and it was close to empty but there were couple People there which should of been my first sign. The cost is not an issue if the food is good it becomes an issue at $70 dollars for a meal you know could have tasted good had someone knew what they were doing in the kitchen. Thanks ❤️ Hope you take this serious because you have a great restaurant you just need to fire your entire kitchen crew. I did come on a Monday night maybe your good chefs had off who knows but if that’s the case fire the Monday people

Located on a small inlet. Appears to be affiliated with the resort behind it but I can’t confirm that. Probably the best grouper I’ve had in a decade. Most places serve it too drive but this was nice. The red snapper was maybe a 7/10. The sides were pretty good. Didn’t try any alcoholic beverages on this trip.

Yummy! I stopped in on a much needed day off. As a local, I don’t get out much for lunch due to work. It was so awesome. I sat by the pool, in the shade. I had grouper fritters, blackened shrimp tacos, and my friend had the thousand island salad. She didn’t love peeling the shrimp…but what else is ther to do while drinking? Peel that shrimp.

Place wasn't bad, service was fast and friendly. I had the peel and eat shrimp and my only real complaint is that any good seafood restaurant should know to properly clean the shrimp before cooking and serving it. They did take the heads off for me when asked...but I had to use the fork to clean what is usually called the poop of the shrimp. There was no spices or seasoning on the shrimp and the Marylander in me needs to remember to always carry a small container of Old Bay when I travel.

Great service. Drink was okay. Had a claw of the stone crab wasn’t all that I’ve been told. It was alright. That’s just my opinion. Regular is good for me.

Best seafood. The best flavor of shrimp I have ever had. Lobster and crab cooked perfectly. Corn and potatoes were good too. Will make this a regular stop when we return. My sister and nephew got to help feed the sharks and it wasn't an extra charge just a nice added experience.

Wonderful open air seating and wonderful service! If you're not sure what you want, ask. Our server was so helpful with the menu options, and our lunch was amazing! The chillers and boils are definitely enough for 2, especially when we followed her direction and added half a lobster for $15. Beautiful birds to watch too. 😃 Key lime creme brulee was DELICIOUS!!!!

We started with Oysters, Conch Fritters and a Wedge Salad. The Oysters were chilled and tasty, as were the Fritters. Be aware that the Wedge Salad was with Romaine rather than with Iceberg Lettuce. The spine of the Romaine was crunchier than I expected and the Bacon was chopped finely to add to the flavor. Still, as someone used to an Iceberg Wedge Lettuce, this was decidedly different. Our main courses were the Stone Cold Chiller and Seafood Paella. The Chiller was tasty and was enjoyed. The Paella rice was saucier than many night expect, but flavorful. Still, there was no crispy rice (socarrat) at the base of the dish, as one would hope for when eating Paella. The seafood and chicken were tasty, though there was relatively little andouille. The depicted drink is a Shark Bite, which was sweet and flavorful. We would return to The Stoned Crab for seafood.

Our food surprised us by the amount of seafood on our dish. It was a happy surprise! The Lobster was cooked to perfection! Our only complaint is the dern wooden chairs ended up hurting our bony rear ends! Hahaha 🤣 We will be back, though!!♡

We had Kevin as our waiter. He had such great hospitality. He’s only been here for three weeks and to me he seemed to be here for years. He knew the menu and suggested we get the towers to share between me and my husband. It was the perfect amount of food for a great cost. Kevin was very attentive to us too. Highly recommend coming here… and definitely ask for Kevin!

This place is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Stunning views and delicious food! If you’re in Freeport area and want to go out to a nice romantic dinner and enjoy great food and drinks this is your go to spot! Entire staff is so respectful, and they go over the top to make your experience memorable. After talking to the Owner about my plans the staff helped me facilitate an unforgettable proposal to my soon to be wife! It would be the perfect place for a wedding!

My wife and I wanted to try something local while visiting Key West, so we came to the Stoned Crab. First, all of the crab, lobster, and shrimp is fresh, and I mean caught that day by local fisherman fresh. Also, I can't speak for the entire staff, but Greysea (her spelling) was an amazing and energetic server, who really made the meal and experience fun. The prices may be a little higher than some are used to, but if you get the steamers you won't go home hungry. The only downside was the steak. I had to send it back twice and it still wasn't right the third time. The manager did his best to fix it, and overall this was still an amazing meal. Outdoor seating and not a long wait for the food.

Ate here when we go to Key West. Seen it from the road and pulled in. Great lunch, we had peel and eat pink shrimp, and combo shrimp/fish basket with fries. Great food and right by the water. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff.

Excellent food. Fresh, fast, very comfortable atmosphere and super cool staff. My dog was allowed to sit at my feet and they even brought him a cup of water. The Conch Fritters we're some of the best we've had, and we live here in Florida. Drinks are a little pricey compared to some similar restaurants, but if you walk the property, you can see they put that extra $$ back into the place, beautiful! Highly recommend.

Wow! That is the first thing that pops out of my mouth when I think of this place. The food is amazing and makes your mouth water. The steam pots are big enough for 2 people! They give you so much food and it's amazing! Our waiter was attentive, refilled any drinks we needed and checked on us and all his tables regularly. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. They had fish and some kind of shark you could look at off the dock. It was cool.
