My wife and I went to VFW Post 3911 today April 18 for lunch. The place was not very crowded. The bar had maybe five or six patrons and there was one table being occupied by a small group of four in an otherwise spacious dining area. The place seemed pleasant. We took our seats and waited to be served. After waiting for about ten to fifteen minutes, I went to the bar to ask for a menu. The server (Casey) at the bar told me she would bring it over to our table. I said sure. About ten minutes later she brings it over to the table. We placed our order for fish tacos and a fish sandwich with a side of onion rings and two ice teas. She brought the fountain drinks a few minutes later. After 45 minutes of waiting and watching others who came in after us, get their orders at the bar eat and leave, we started to wonder what was happening with our order. Normally, we would not wait that long but we were on vacation, so we had time. The problem was the service. While still waiting, one of the patrons at the bar asked asked us if we ordered a fish sandwich and fish tacos, we said yes. We saw Casey deliver that order to the couple but thought nothing of it until they asked the question about our order. A while later, Casey came in with what we thought was our order, finally. It was not. It was for the couple who asked about our order. What happens next seems to be like a clip from the 60s, Casey picks up the order that had been sitting in front of the couple for sometime now and brings it over to us. No explanation or apologies, she just set it in front of us and says here’s your order. My wife immediately said no thank you, we don’t want it. What happened next was even more insane, Casey said to us “You ordered it you have to pay for it”. We said no mam, we will not eat or pay for something you took from someone else’s lunch table but, we would pay for the fountain drinks which were in our possession. That was not the worst of it. Casey threatened to call the police if we didn’t pay. I replied, “you may call whomever you like”, she proceeded to call the police and told them this black man and woman had taken food and refused to pay. Yes you read correctly, she called the police. We waited for the police to arrive. 30 minutes later they came in, beckoned for Casey to come away from the bar to get a good understanding of her complaint. Once they heard her complaint, they came over to talk with my wife and I. We explained what happened. I also asked the officer If she would pay for the meal given those set of circumstances. She smiled, but didn’t answer that question, which is understandably professional. After talking with Casey again for a few moments, the officers came back to our table and said you’re free to go. We told the officer we didn’t mind paying for the fountain drinks we had partially consumed. They said it’s up to you. We left money for the drinks as we originally offered and left. As we drove off we waved to the officers as we left. How said they had to be pulled away from important work to address this unnecessary issue. Clearly this is not a good line of work for Casey. We emailed the Commander in charge of post 3911 to report the incident and to express our total dissatisfaction with the treatment we received there. He apologized and sad they will be meeting to discuss a remedy…….. updates to follow.

Deb and I enjoyed our dinner here tonight. We both had the prime rib with a baked potato and salad. She had the regular medium rare cut and I had an end cut. The prime was very good, the horseradish sauce had a not bite to it that really gave it a nice nasal experience. I like that, to me that’s what horseradish and wasabi is suppose to do. The potato and salad were nice. Our waiter took good care of our needs and helped make the dinner enjoyable. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and will go back again.

Bad service went in bartender said have a seat I will bring you some menu's. We sat there she went behind the bar started talking poured out a drink cleaned the bar. She never came over so we just got up and and left. Was trying to support you. But with staff like that I don't see how you can make money.

A local recommended this as a good place to eat. Food was ok, but service was not. We entered an empty facility which quickly had several groups arrive. As we were the first group you would think we would be served first, but weren't. We moved to the bar hoping for better service. Didn't happen. We actually received someone else's food and after telling the server she actually placed the food on the other table. When the people refused to pay for the already touched food, she called the police on them. It was truly messed up. Otherwise the food was typical bar food and pricing was decent.

Food surprisingly good. More crowded and livelier crowd than a dozen other vfw I frequent. Had a good time visited twice during my stay.

Wonderful post with excellent leadership. Patty is exactly what I like to see in a bartender. Caring and dedicated. This was my first time in and I was treated like family. Amazing. Keep it up, Comrades!

Chicken wings were not done. Shrimp was burnt. Disappointed because we have eaten there before and it was better.

Patty is not only a genuine and sweet soul, but such a hard worker and pushes through the most difficult of situations. Such a doll and I’d return even if it was just for her company.

Clean, food came quickly. Tortilla soup was rather hot spicy so just warning people. My husband's salad was very good.

Buyer beware!!! We were charged undisclosed fees. When asking about them we were told: A "rocks" fee for ice with alcholic beverage is charged. Strange how there was no "ice/rocks" fee for the ice in nonalcholic beverages. A service fee which we were told later was the credit card charge that is NOW disclosed on the bill. We were charged 4% as the service fee. I would say VFW shame on you for not providing the disclosure. The current credit card processing rates range from 0.12 to 2.3%. Most establishments post this information and disclose at the time of ordering. As a small business owner I understand fees. The issue is the NONDISCLOSURE. The atmosphere was typical VFW welcoming. The food was good. We had prime rib. The deserts are fresh, service is good. Just ask about pricing with each item offered and any extra charge that maybe added to the bill prior to any order. Transparency does not seem to be part of the leadership/management philoshphy in this establishment.

Reasonable prices for drinks, food prices comparable to other restaurants but quality less than par.

MENU was eh ! Not sure who was cooking but well..... where do I begin. The potato skins overcooked. Collard greens seemed old. We opted for cheeseburgers that were in line with Mc Donald's. I guess the fries were disgusting. We won't be back to eat. Seems like they are caterring to barfood, not sit down restaurant food.

Best Smashed Burger in Key West! Bar crowd never disappoints. Bar tender is always nice and has good jokes! One of my favorite spots on the island!

I'm sharing a picture of what good fish tacos should look like, please send to chef. His were terrible. I mean the taste was ok but the tortilla was so greasy and there was hardly any fish in them. We wish the Dirty Pig BBQ was still there, this would not have happened.

The food was outstanding!!! Not too crowded at 2:30PM... Bartender was very friendly and service was great! Wife had the ribs. She could only eat half and it just about fell off the bones on its own. I had the pulled pork. It was excellent!

The idea is good, and I'm sure its a great locals bar. BUT they added food service with specials. The food was not cooked as ordered our poor server was totally in the weeds. Had to send food back 3 times and finally decided to try another place. We paid for what we got but they wasted 4 prime rib dinners because the cook can't cook. If your going to have a special you should expect ppl to come. Be ready!
