Favorite beach in Key West. 🌴 Amazing spot to chill for the day, knee deep in the water! They do a great job of combing the beach, sand is amazing and minimal seaweed/muck. Park towards the airport end and walk the path to paradise!

It’s a great place but it’s not the same as in the Google photos without moss on the beach. You can see our photos and decide. It also stinks because of too much moss I guess. When you go into the water, you also have a lot of moss. The ground of the water is a bit muddy and soft. You can take some nice photos if you can hide the moss :)

Probably one of the best beaches on Key West, but it's right next to the airport so it's not very quiet. The water never gets very deep - very shallow throughout. Lots of sea grass, though if you look for clear areas you can find them. Water is very calm and warm. The beach itself is nice - very wide and sandy. Easy parking along the road that runs right along side of it. In certain locations there's a ramp for wheelchairs and beach buggies.Makes for a great wedding venue - lots of people get married on this beach. There are restrooms. Also, at certain times, there's a vendor renting things like chairs, umbrellas, and water sport things so you don't have to bring your own.

THE Beach! Key West has a long beach! There are others. But this is the LONG ONE! Perfect for every beachy adventure. Paddle boarding is great. Close to shore, not too deep! Great to learn about ‘ocean water’ for the little ones! Yes there is seaweed and sometimes it is so hot, but come on! It’s an amazing place. Look out to infinity. See the cruise ships, fast boats, planes, jet ski’s, people getting married and walking their dogs! Picnics. Water sports. And some food palaces scattered around. Book waterfront views early - they go fast! And prices can vary’ the top travel times are NOT summer! It is sooooo hot! More popular is Primary - October - February. Secondary March - May. Last resort June - September! Hurricane season is September. These are my OPINIONS. Check the facts for yourself! Nada

Gorgeous beach and a pretty decent place to watch the sunset (at least when I was here in February). Maybe not the perfect setting-into-the-water view, but still a really peaceful vibe around sunset!

Good beach! Free of charge. Some shadow places. Parking spaces on the street, 2h for 10 Dollar. Wather very clean. The sand is beautiful and quite special.

Really nice beach on Key West. I'm sure there are other decent ones but we drove around a good bit and didn't find anything better. There are chairs and umbrellas for rental ($20 for each chair and each umbrella but it's yours for the day). I agree with others that there was definitely a smell of seaweed in the air and it was pretty strong at times. The water itself was really clear but parts of the beach (underwater) are covered with seaweed and others are totally clear so it makes the water look different. Sand was HOT so be sure to bring shoes. There was plenty of parking at $5/hr. There was also a lot across the street that said no parking but people were there so not sure how that works.

Great beach! Water was warm, no waves. There’s a public restroom that never is full. You can rent equipment for different nautical sports. The best …. It’s free

I've always loved Smathers beach. It's so beautiful. So post card perfect. There's a little too much sea grass built up even though it is groomed everyday. If you get a spot upwind and away from the build-up it's wonderful. The water is as warm as a bath tub and salt water soft.

The beach is beautiful, but it has a lot of seaweed like every beach in Florida. the smell of old seaweed in the sand is not pleasant. But after you enter the sea, and go deeper, where it's actually shallow, with clear water and white sand, you don't smell. the sea is warm and delicious!

The most popular Key West beach with tourists. A long stretch of sand, which is occasionally replenished by the city (allegedly the first batch was shipped in from the Bahamas), along Roosevelt Ave in New Town. This is the beach people picture when thinking of the Keys, even though most beaches look nothing like it: white sand, swaying palm trees, and blue-green water. Not a great swimming beach, and you should definitely wear water shoes in the water. Full facilities and rentals are available. This is a very beautiful beach, but honestly, I always choose to spend my KW beach days at Ft Zach Beach. UPDATE: Roosevelt Ave is under construction along Smathers Beach, but it doesn't impact anything but parking, which, in Key West, is always a premium.

Decent beach. Clean most part. Visited on weekday, not much busy. Parking at different places available. Water is calm and warm. Not a five star beach for sure.

Excellent beach at keywest who h is open for public. One can park for free or at a designated area with fee. At starting of the beach they have set the shop for Water sports one can enjoy, Kayaking, sail boat, parasailing etc. You can hire chairs to relax on the beach and enjoy pleasant weather and lovely winds blowing. They have restrooms as well.

By the time we reached the beach it was almost empty. The beach has beautiful white sand but it was dirty and full of seaweed. Could not find the facility for sun beds and water sports butay be because of the evening. So we had our own chairs , mat etc beautiful location for photography, and had a chance to view the moon rise (FIRST IN MY LIFETIME)

Probably the best beach in Key West. Also one of the largest so you won’t the cramped on the sand or in the water. Beautiful white sand but there is quite a bit of seaweed right now (July 2023). Faces southeast, so not the best spot to watch the sun set if that’s your goal.

We bike to this beach from Duval Street, which is about a 5-mile round trip. Nice ride and a pretty safe area as it had some bike pathways. Biclye parking is probably easier to get than street parking on the beaches busiest days. The beach is cleaned in the morning to remove seaweed (calm down, it's a part of KW beach life). There are bathrooms available on the beach. Several food and activity vendors are around this area.

Absolutely love Smathers Beach! There's plenty of parking available, chair and umbrella rentals, and bathroom facilities...all kept clean. The sun seems brighter too lol!

Loved this little treasure, although it's under heavy construction at the moment *November 2023*. We parked and walked across the street and noticed it's a smaller beach with less people which is definitely a PLUS at times on vacation lol! Sometimes you're in the mood for a beach with crowds and other times you just want to be left TF alone. Smathers is a perfect spot for being left alone, soak up the sun, and do things without crowds. Only cruised through, had limited time and still managed to get pictures walk along the sand and see the beautiful water . Another great beach for an afternoon of fun in the sun or perhaps sunrise/sunset 😀

Not the nicest beach I’ve ever been to, but pretty good for a public beach. Has a slight sulfur smell due to the seagrass, but it’s not too bad get there early to make sure you can get under a palm tree if you don’t have an umbrella.

Beautiful beach right next to the airport and main road. I noticed a free parking lot right next to the Margaritaville hotel. I love this beach. There's a lot of activities to choose from yet it seems like a private beach. The only negative is that you can hear every plane as it takes off.

The beach is having beautiful white sand, unfortunately the water was full of seaweed. They are having sun beds and water sports facilities, also you can just put your tower under the shade of the palm trees and enjoy the nice vibe.

Hi Tide brings in a lot of seaweed-so the smell can be overwhelming. Pretty views. Lots of boats capsized. Makes it feel like the Caribbean. Free to attend. Folks were out on reefs playing games.

This is a nice beach. There is enough space for most people. Palm trees offer some shade if you need it. Public facilities at the side with access for those with disabilities. The sea has some rocks but only small. Clear water. Plenty of sun. Some small vendors selling ice cream and coffee. Parking is on the road - pay at the meter. If you want to park for free it's a half mile walk. Overall I would recommend it.

If you're searching for the most picturesque and sandy beach in Key West for your wedding ceremony, whether it be an elopement or a grand affair, this is the perfect spot - especially stunning at sunrise or sunset. I frequently photograph here and the views never cease to amaze me. However, it can get quite crowded at times, particularly around sunset in the season months - but it is pretty nonetheless.

Beautiful beach but very small. Better get there early if you want a beach spot and parking is just about non existent.

Quiet beach (this was on a Sunday in the off season) Beautiful clear waters. There's a little shop where you can rent a variety of water toys. Nice walking path. Public restrooms with a rinse off shower.

My kids loved this place but they were searching for a place with soft sand and seaweed. My husband complained of the smell, it didn't bother me. Not much shade unless you get there early. Wasn't about to swim here

Nice beach with restrooms and ample parking. A few food trucks were also set up. Sun Sports has chairs and umbrellas for rent. Along with a few kayaks and boards.

Beautiful beach with crisp, clear water! The walkways and beach areas are maintained picturesque and clean. There were also several locations to rent beach chairs, umbrellas, paddle boards, kayaks, and book parasailing excursions. Everything you need is all in one place! Overall a great place to spend a relaxing day!

It's nice to look at, but there's TONS of seaweed all over, and it feels like walking on wet carpet in a flooded basement. I figured out was just unkempt, but they drove a machine around to scoop up seaweed 2 or 3 times in the couple hours we were there.

The Florida Keys long chain of islands ends on Key West which has a few beautiful places where ocean is all you see. These beaches and the view of open ocean are places we go to meet, relax, play and get sandy and tanned, to reflect and hope, perhaps to cry or grieve, even to propose or in this case, of Paula & Bob Warr, be wed! When the beautiful views of the world tend to be so completely ‘owned’ by some one or other this beach is a blessing! A blessing full of infinite dreams like the view! Hope you enjoy the film of Paula & Bob here. Their vows began at their hotel and 7 miles later ended on this fabulous beach in Key West - with sun, palms, sea oats and sand surrounding them.

As far as I know, this is the best beach in Key West. We easily found parking across the road. You can hire beach chairs, umbrellas, and kayaks. Alternatively, you can use coconut trees for shade. There were great ablutions on the beach and one can swim easily and safely. We went back there the next day!

Nice public beach with shallow water and simple maintenance just a few minutes drive from the old town. Bring your own things as the beach is very simple.
