She's an absolute beauty. I'm sure the sunset sails are nice but get out there earlier when there's a breeze blowing if you want a real sailing experience. Had a strong blow the day we went which made for an awesome sail. The Cap and Crew work their butts off to maintain this beautiful boat and it's well worth checking out!

My husband and I did the champagne sunset sail with Captain Russ and first mates Mario and Bradley. This exceeded our expectations! If you are looking for a fun crew, great drink options ("homemade sangria"!!) and a relaxing sail this is your boat! Appetizers were fantastic (shrimp cocktail, hummus with veggies, fish dip, Mediterranean kabobs and keylime dessert bites). Other sunset cruises were crowded and loud. This was relaxing an peaceful. Highly recommend!

What a fun night with Capt. Russ, Mario & Bradley! The snacks were great! The beverages were kept flowing with a variety of selections! Thank you Capt for introducing my wife to "Uncle Charlie". it was a phenomenal night! Oh....Bradley, nice skirt! If you want a relaxing and fun sunset cruise, this is the one!

This was an amazing excursion!! Mario & Bradley took great care to entertain and provide us with a gorgeous ecotour! Due to the influx of jellies they made some adjustments to the itinerary to keep us safe while also giving us more water time. The kayaking through the mangroves was definitely my favorite and got us up close to the hundreds of birds that live there. The lunch on the ride back to the wharf was absolutely delicious and the rum punch was legit! We even had a pod of dolphins swimming up to the boat which was an added bonus! Highly recommend this tour!!

Russ, Mario, and Wade were absolutely incredible guides/hosts, as was the adventure itself!! You can always tell when someone loves what they do!! Snorkeling and kayaking was amazing as was the sailing back to the wharf. Truly a perfect day on the water. We will absolutely be return customers and would recommend to anyone visiting Key West. An excellent experience. The crew was amazing and friendly. I loved that it was a quiet ride with a smaller passenger count. The drinks were good and the appetizers were yummy. The views during sunset were gorgeous! Highly recommend.

This experience was truly wonderful! The crew (an intimate 2 person crew) was so friendly, very knowledgable and made my partner and I feel welcome, safe and that they were working to ensure our experience was wonderful from beginning to end! This was not a party boat experience, but rather, an intimate and fun time. With the boat being smaller in comparison to some of the others we saw going out for sunset sails, we were able to chat with some of the other guest on the sail and we were able to really ask questions and get to know the crew. Mario and Bradley made this a relaxing and memorable experience! I highly recommend booking this while in Key West!

Great trip with Bradley and Joe! We’ve been on a few boating excursions before and trust me there’s a difference. The boat was clean and the ride was enjoyable. The opportunity to both go snorkeling and kayaking was something that drew us to this particular charter. Both Bradley and Joe were very gracious and the it was nice to be on a charter intimate enough to get to know the other guests. We’d definitely do this trip again!

Just got home from a week in the keys and our sunset sail on Schooner Appledore was the highlight of the whole trip! I based a lot of our planned activities on reviews like these and they did not let me down!! This was a true 10/10 experience from start to finish. Captain Mario and Renee were both amazing crew and hosts from the moment we boarded to the moment we departed. The drinks (and jokes) were flowing, the apps were delicious, and the sail into the sunset was truly spectacular. Thank you Schooner Appledore for a wonderful experience, we will certainly be returning!

Bradley and Mario were great and made the cruise a fun and memorable experience. When the wind caught the sails the motor turned off it was lovely and the sunset was beautiful. The drinks and food were very tasty and delicious. We would highly recommend!

Best time ever!! Captain Mario, Brad and James did a great job taking care of us on this excursion. Beautiful kept Schooner and great care. Champagne to start and beverages flowed entire time underway. Motored out a little then sails took us to a beautiful sunset along with a side by side battle with another schooner :-) Food was great and absolutely everyone on board had a great time. We did the champagne sunset cruise on the Appledore II. Captain and crew (Matthew, Zack, and Angela) were awesome! Lots of fun conversation and history of the schooner. Weather was perfect for sailing with a light breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Would definitely recommend to anyone and do it again next time we’re here.

Our sunset cruise was amazing! We took the catamaran which was great. But the Appledore schooner was an even better experience. Sailing on a wooden boat with the big sails made the cruise romantic and peaceful. The crew was awesome as well. Very helpful and nice. This is a must thing to do while in Key West! It is a memory my husband and myself will share always.

We went on the sunset cruise and loved it. It is nice is a smaller group and you get to sail and the guys who worked the boat were so fun and great at making it a special experience for everyone. We had Captain Mario, Jordan and Jamie sailing with us. In addition to telling us about the views, they kept checking on us for our drink orders and we were impressed with the appetizers on the boat too. They made sure we all got group sunset photos and a great time. We would do it again next time in Key West!

We booked the sunset tour, and as we have not yet mastered how to command the winds we sailed without breeze or chop. Luckily the motor was pretty quiet and it was an enjoyable time on the water. The sun did not disappoint in it’s gorgeous setting-display, we all took advantage of the light and asked the crew to take our picture in the glow of the setting sun, it was just beautiful. Our crew were friendly, the snacks were delicious, and the beverages delightful. The boat did not sink, we made it back to shore and are still swooning over the pictures of the sunset.

A wonderful and unique day on the Appledore Star! A historic wooden sailing vessel is the way to go. Happy to find lots of shade on deck. We had beautiful weather and views of mangrove islands in water that was every shade of blue. Captain Mario, Jamie and Bradley were all friendly and helpful. Snorkeling equipment was clean and a good quality (no old leaky masks). Saw a variety of fish and stingrays. Lunch exceeded expectations and the homemade sangria was delicious. Highly recommend this tour!

JUST DO IT. Unless of course you’re into the party scene and loud music and zero character. This ship is truly amazing. Its old school. Its got incredible character and the 3 live aboard crew members Know And Respect that. The crew of 3 (Matthew, Zach & Angela) are very informative of the ship, knowledgeable of its history and the caring of the safety of their passengers. They sail the Appledore from Key West to Maine each year as snowbirds. So cool! There are alcoholic beverages available but It is calm enough that my 5 year old had a great time. No one got drunk & stupid. A family even had their little dog aboard that entertained my son. It was limited to a small group & not over crowded. If you have physical limitations, the bathroom requires climbing down a ladder. Pet Friendly Just Great

This sunset cruise has been the highlight of our key west trip!!! The captain and crew are super welcoming and engaging. The drinks and appetizers were also incredible!!! It was a super intimate experience as well, not crowded at all! The views are breathtaking, we were lucky and saw some dolphins at sunset and got to see the beautiful moon and and setting at the same time! Thank you Mario and crew!

It was a great ride, beautiful sunset, nice not having music because you could hear the waves hitting the boat and you got the feel for what it was like to ride a real wood schooner ship. Would do it again, the captain took us 4 miles out. Crew was very accommodating and nice.

A cloudy little chilly night but the staff of the Appledore made the sail very enjoyable. The clouds parted so we did have a sunset cruise. The staff was so attentive and informative. The sunset cruise didn’t have food but the sangria is the BEST! Fun activity for our first night in Key West.

This was an awesome adventure! We loved the history of the boat, the snorkeling, and the kayaking excursions. The crew was awesome! Jordan, Wade, and Russ were great! They kept drinks in our hands and engaged us in conversations. Highly recommend!

I did the bogeye backcountry eco tour on the schooner Appledore. The overall experience was really amazing. This is one of the few tours in Key West that is limited to a small group so you can easily get to know your fellow travelers and all your needs and questions are addressed and you are always looked out for by the crew. The boat is really cool with sails and original wood. On the way back the sails are used for part of the trip and you will have some singing entertainment from the crew. It is sunny on the boat and not much shade so bring sunscreen, hats, and glasses for protection. There are various drinks provided to you, including alcohol and alcohol free. Once you get to your destination, half the people go kayking around the mangroves and half snorkeling in a near by area, then you will switch places. There is a guide with you the whole time and plenty of safety equipment available for the snorkeling part if you are not a great swimmer (water about 15 feet deep). Shout out to the crew: captain Ross, Mario, and Bradley. They made the experience amazing and went above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of.
