This is definitely a very unique place. It is a very intimate setting where the birds & people interact in a unscripted environment. Ask all the questions you’d like & be sure to take notes. There are stories for days here. This is a true Key West experience.

I have visited Nancy and her feathered friends on 2 previous trips, and I plan to visit again during this trip to Key West. I love watching and interacting with all the birds, but especially Pierre! Nancy is truly an amazing and generous person. In addition to all the great education and work Nancy does, it’s critical to provide financial support as well!

This is a beautiful sanctuary, well cared for by Nancy. She takes the time to tell each small group of the plight of these long lived birds. I felt so very honored to be able to pet 1 of her 2 peach macaws. “Make sure he’s scratching his neck, oh, yes, he is. Go ahead & pet his feathers this way. Not hard, but not soft. He’ll walk away if he doesn’t like the petting. Covid hit all the birds hard. I was their only caretaker for over a year. This one’s whole personality changed.” All the birds have at least a bit of a story. They are cunning and love to show off. Even if you don’t think you like large birds, at least stop by & put some cash in the tip bowl. The birds need their food too. And, if you live on Key West, consider helping out. Volunteer daily, get to know the birds & their favorite toys. You’ll be doing a great service to Nancy and also to all the birds. I’d help, but it’s a serious commute from Detroit to Key West daily! LOL!

This was the best decision we made on our day trip to Key West. We got to meet Nancy and talk to her in length about her passion for conservation and her love of her birds. She educated us a lot and it was just a very beautiful experience. This isn't a big park experience. It's like going into your favorite aunt's backyard and getting to see the most amazing birds in the world in an intimate setting. Nancy, thank you for your years of dedication and for your time.

Nancy was very nice and gave a small group of us a very informative and lengthly education lesson. The birds were gorgeous and it was wonderful to learn a bit about their histories. Thank you Nancy & sweet birds.

A beautiful place where you can feel the genuinely passion of the volunteers for the rescues bird. Sean gave us plenty of explanation about the parrots, with patience, kindness. I would definitely come back, even if it's small, the atmosphere you would find here is very rare

My friend and I were very excited to visit. After looking at the reviews it seemed like a great experience. We walked in with another couple that had heard great things as well. However there was a gentleman that was a volunteer there and we had the worst experience. He gave a short educational speech and would not allow us to ask questions without interrupting and being rude. We did not get to interact with the birds. He said “you are a difficult group”. We had no expectations other than a friendly fun experience with birds and the individuals there. I feel this would have been a completely different review if Nancy had been present.

Nancy's Secret Garden is a small garden located at a backyard of a private home. We can see the birds up close, but we won't be able to touch them. Nancy gave us plenty of explanation about the parrots with patience. She showed us how the birds do tricks and speak. Nancy is doing amazing work rescuing the birds. It was wonderful to learn about their history.

Nancy does an amazing job caring for unwanted parrots. She educates her visitors on her feathered housemates' behavior and the difficulties they face as pets.

We stopped by last week during our cruise and visited with Nancy and Blue. She is doing amazing work rescuing these birds when people realize they are hard work and live a long time. She's respectful of the birds during her training and you can tell she really cares. Please stop by when you are in Key West. I know we will again! Thank you, Nancy and Blue!

What an interesting morning we had at Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden! Nancy and then Sean, one of the volunteers there, introduced us to some beautiful and talented macaws. They each told us of the bird's histories, personalities and preferences; and they spoke about breeding and owning birds as well. Certainly worth the price of admission, the proceeds of which sustain Nancy's mission to protect and sustain these beautiful birds as well as teach the general public about them.

This was SUCH a fun experience seeing the parrots. It is a great cause to contribute to. All their parrots are greatly taken care of. We especially enjoyed “Hammerhead” the macaw and the African Grey.

Very interesting experience. We are not bird owner, but our children like birds so I thought I would be a good experience. I respect anyone who devotes their life to rescuing and rehabbing animals. It 100% a lifelong commitment and you can see at Nancy’s that this is her passion and she wants the best for these birds. She was able to tell us back stories and has a strong connection with her birds. It was a very informative experience and I definitely recommend it for anyone who is a bird lover or appreciates birds.

A little private backyard stuffed with bird cages. We could see the birds very close which was amazing. Please visit and donate to this bird loving lady to make her hard work easier! You can scan a QR code and pay with Venmo or PayPal or out cash in a box.

Nancy is a delightful lady with lots of informed opinions and personal stories, and a deep dedication to the environment. She's been providing a haven for abandoned parrots for 20+ years. The garden was greatly reduced in 2008 for financial reasons, and now specializes in Macaws, who are gorgeous and smart, with different personalities and desires. Sean, a volunteer provides an overview of why the commercial breeding of parrots produces birds who don't know how to be parrots and who need attention to prevent aggression. Sean gives advice to present owners and those thinking about getting a parrot (which can live 80÷ years and require constant care:) Fascinating presentation!

Nancy is super knowledgeable and shares so much interesting information about her parrots! I loved it, but for younger kids it's maybe not so interesting - mine quit after 20min. Make sure to use repellent before you go there, though! We were bitten quite a bit!

Little off-the-beaten path parrot hideaway in Old Town. Nancy and her other guide are patient and passionate about parrot conservation. They loved answering my kids' questions. Beautifulll birds. True Old Town feel. Free for locals, but definitely make a.donation anyway 🦜💚

Visited Nancy Forrester’s Secret Garden in 2016 on a whim and it was the highlight of our trip. Nancy gave a a tour and allowed us to hold her rescues. She was very caring and knowledgeable. Such a beautiful soul to shelter and care for all the birds there. Would love to visit again with my family. Thank you Nancy for sharing your home & and birds with us.

Loved this place. What a great cause. People don't realize that parrots need their own rescue! Anyways what a beautiful and kind hearted cause with really nice friendly people working there, and beautiful macaws ♥️
