This place is just plain nasty. Awaken by roaches in our bed and no one cared. Tracked down the lazy manager and she was inconvenienced that she had to take a room out of service. She moved us then put someone in the room same day before the exterminator did anything. New room has ants all over bedroom and kitchen. Nothing works mechanically in this dump and worse yet it’s the most poorly managed place I’ve ever stayed. Good work Margaritaville, I’ve stayed in hotels in third world countries that are cleaner and better managed.

Yes great hotel! Bad reviews appears to relate to this hotel before renovating, or changing its name. Rooms are suits and very clean. Staff very nice. Many families, across a humble public beach. It was a wonderful stay. Breakfast was good too (not included).

Boyfriend and I loved our stay. Shuttle to/form the airport was prompt and drivers were friendly. Actually all staff we interacted with were beyond nice and helpful. Check in was quick and the receptionist had margaritas upon arrival. Our king room was clean. Only thing missing was a place to dry our bathing suits. We ordered room service or ordered food from the bar as we had a meal credit part of reservation. Food was always so yummy and quick. Loved the free coffee and tea in the morning. Easy walk across the street to the beach. Best beach on key west in my opinion. I would definitely stay here again and plan to return with my family.

Since the moment i walked in, nothing but good experiences has happened. The food and drinks were delicious, the staff were very kind and respectful, and the bus driver, bob, always managed to make me laugh every bus ride. The pool was nice. The beach was pretty good. and the hotel was very organized and spacious. Everything about this hotel has been positive, it is well decorated and has very kind staff that make you feel welcomed as soon as you step foot in the building.

I booked this hotel though a 3rd party website to stay in a 2 bedroom suite with guests. I made a mistake and never changed the amount of guests, and it automatically entered 2. When I realized the correct amount of guests wasn’t in the reservation I called the hotel to correct it, and they told me they couldn’t do it over the phone, and that I had to do it at check in (the room came with free breakfast that’s why I wanted an accurate number). At check in i Gad our luggage and some grocery bags because I’m traveling with kids. Nobody helped us carry anything to the room, the front desk person told me to grab the valet cart and take the elevator down to load my belongings which we carried to the room ourselves. At check in they told me they couldn’t correct the amount of guests because I booked though a third party website. Only gave me a breakfast voucher for 2 guests. You would think paying almost 4K for a 3 day stay they would be a little more accommodating, but it was not the case. I asked for a crib at check in, I had to put my son down for a nap since we traveled all the way from upstate ny. I had to call the hotel 4 times to finally get 3 hours later. The room (this is the nicest room they have) is okay, not great. The floor was FILTHY. My feet were back from walking barefoot. I recommend not getting a pool view, it is extremely loud but I know they can’t do anything about it so obviously we didn’t complain. We aren’t staying here again, service was disappointing

I recently stayed here on a short getaway with my sister, her 10 year old daughter, and my 5 year old daughter. We wanted to enjoy a weekend of just moms and daughters having fun and relaxing. The very first day we noticed ants crawling up the walls, and on the tables. The next day I woke up to lots of itching on my legs and arms (which I ignored and dismissed as mosquito bites during my trip). However each morning I woke up to more bites in my body. The bed was infested with bed bugs. When I returned home from my trip, I looked carefully and the bites were all over, super itchy, and definitely not mosquito bites. I confirmed with a family member who’s in the medical profession as well and was told these were bed bugs. I emailed the manager about this and have yet to receive a reply. We paid way too much, along with per day hefty fees, only to sleep in a place with ants and bed bugs. The only reason I’m giving a star was the restaurant had decent food. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, including under-developed countries, including lower rated hotels, but I’ve never in my life slept in a hotel bed with actual bed bugs. Avoid this hotel.

We stayed here because of its proximity to the beach, but what a disappointment. There was construction going on and part of the beach smells of sewer. The best part about this place is the bed. It was super comfortable. There was a $60 resort fee each night. It's a joke what you get for it. Cookies, welcome drink, pool, and a smoothie. There were never cookies and the welcome drinks were more like a fruit juice with a tiny bit of alcohol but you had to ask for it. It wasn't provided upon check like stated. The smoothies was a tiny little cup. Such a terrible business practice to make money off its customers for literally nothing! Our room had a leaky faucet that would run down to the floor. The kitchen faucet wobbling in every direction. I would never stay at another Margarittaville Hotel.

I booked this hotel because I thought it would have great service. Turned out much different. We were there 4 nights. The 1st day they cleaned the room. You could at least pick up the trash. The Shuttle was helpful but that's about all you get for the resort fees. Food was great and prices competitively for the area. But, twice at breakfast we were forgotten. The staff was great but mornings seem to be overwhelming for them.

Great find! We usually stay at Hilton property but they couldn’t accommodate our large party. This hotel was able to accommodate us at the last minute. Resort style, it reminds we of a hotel in the Caribbean. Staff was excellent! I only found a few issues. Floors in hotel room are extremely sandy. The whirlpool was filthy with leaves and branches. There was no coffee around 9am only decaf.

When we checked in the lobby seemed nice. However the parking, elevators, room walkways / balconies, and actual rooms were immediately a let down and just wasn’t on the level we expected for the price paid and brand. We were missing several things for the rooms, the AC was not very cool when we got there, although there were several bedrooms and 2 bathrooms there was only 1 shower (which was not clean and needed a good scrubbing around the tiles and walls, etc). The toilet paper holders kept falling apart, the key reader on the door somewhat worked, the lamps / alarm clock / outlets in one bedroom did not work. We had to pull the bed out and found there were a ton of things plugged into a power strip (probably too many things) and the outlet in the wall didn’t work. The rooms were stuffy and didn’t have good air circulation. We had to buy a small fan for the one room. There were no wash cloths, no do not disturb or cleaning magnets on our door, phone didn’t work to call the front desk, the bed felt uneven and like the frame was broken. It was cumbersome to park and get luggage up to the rooms with few luggage carts available. Everything just looked like it needed revamping / some TLC. My wife got numerous bug bites which I am now wondering if they weren’t bed bugs based on other recent reviews. There were numerous weddings going on here. There was no life guard and lots of kids constantly doing canon balls into the pool each evening. The pool lounge chairs looked grungy. However the pool towels were kept in a towel warmer which was a nice feature. The beach seemed nice at first but was full of seaweed and the water looked kinda nasty with questionable stuff floating in it. It smelled of seaweed as well. We could have stayed somewhere nicer on the island for the same price. Wouldn’t stay here again. It was disappointing. If the price were much cheaper without fees then I would have been more satisfied. Just not the quality, service, experience, and cleanliness we expected for the price paid.

The hotel is beautiful. But I feel the location is what makes the price. The pool area could use some love aesthetically. The food was good just very pricey and when there isn't anything else close by your forced to eat here. Right on the beach, we had the opportunity to watch the sun rise which was the highlight of our trip. We were there for a wedding and the meeting planner was very accommodating to my toddler, providing a high chair and kids meal at the reception. Would return to key west but perhaps stay in a more affordable accommodation.

Absolutely loved my stay. I just checked out after a wonderful vacation. The staff was top notch and fun. The resort was the cleanest and nicest I've been. They have really turned it around since my last stay 3 years ago. Bus drivers are fun. Bingo is a book a knowledge and jokes. Thank you for everything !

We had a great time here. From the bus ride from the airport to the bus ride back to the airport. Love the free margaritas, cookies, fruit-infused water and coffee every day. All the staff were great. We loved the pool and the proximity to the beach. The shuttle too and from town is very convenient and we used it a lot. Great decor and vibes. Very fun place.

Overall, a great stay. My family of 3 stayed a long weekend here over Mother’s Day in the 2 bedroom king suite. Positives: The room was very spacious and allowed us to put our baby to sleep in the other room, and still be up enjoying ourselves. The pool and restaurant was a great way to spend down time while we stayed. The shuttle to downtown was all the transportation we needed to have a great time. The gym equipment was nice for a hotel. Negatives: biggest negative was the check in process. We flew into key west airport and let the hotel know hours in advance we would be requesting the shuttle. I let them know when we landed and when we got our bags. They told me to wait outside. After nearly 30 minutes, I gave the hotel a call, they told me to Uber and they would take it off my tab. I had my 9 month old and no car seat, that’s why I planned on taking the bus. We ended up walking the mile to the hotel. It would not have been so bad if it wasn’t for the frustration beforehand. The hotel doesn’t seem to eager to accommodate guests in any way that isn’t already scheduled.

Checking in was good. However, they don't have bellboys to assist in bringing your luggage to your room. Also, we spent some time trying to figure out where our room was. There were no visible signs for the buildings. Everything else was good. Every food that we ordered was delicious. I'm not sure they're set up for room service though. We've experienced room service at different hotels and what we got here was more of a take out order.

It was a spacious 1 bedroom king suite with a resort view. Initially I was put off by a $100 a night hold for incidentals, as we stayed 6 nights and it was a $600 unanticipated hold. Wish that was more transparent before arrival. Wasn’t sure what to expect with “resort view” but it was a landscaped garden area that was nice. It had a refrigerator with a freezer and a bar height counter with 2 stools. The bathroom was gigantic with a large shower with plenty of hot water and water pressure. The room was clean and spacious. The sofa bed where my son slept was pretty hard, probably wouldn’t recommend for an adult or couple, even though the room says sleeps 4. There were shuttles every hour which made getting back and forth to downtown easy. The shuttle drivers were knowledgeable and made restaurant recommendations. We had drinks at the bar on site twice. First time a female bartender who was great. Second time two male bartenders who were not very attentive and I felt like they were selective to who they served quickly and who they paid attention to. The beach across the street was fantastic. A few reviews complained about crossing the street. It can be busy, just hustle and get across. The hotel can’t control traffic.

Just got back from a 4 day stay and had a blast. The transportation was fantastic. We loved Bingo! He was full of information and very kind. The pool was great along as well as the staff. The only thing negative is it's on the other side of the island as all the attractions but close to the beach. Can't wait to go back.

Everything about my stay here was wonderful! The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and accommodating. The restaurant and bar downstairs is amazing! The bar tender outside was very great at his job and so friendly. Beautifully accommodated my dog as well. I would definitely recommend staying here. My one and only complaint is that the bar/restaurant isn't open later than 10pm! But it's no big deal because you can hop on the complimentary shuttle to Duval St where they'll have drinks and food until 4am!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon about a month ago now. We loved our experience! The staff was very friendly and helpful, it was in a great location, the beach across from the resort is absolutely beautiful! The food was very good and the wait staff was also great. The place was pretty clean for the most part, only downfall was they never swept the floors in our hotel room and there was tons of sand/dirt and crumbs everywhere from the time we checked in until we left a week later. Overall, I would recommend staying here, we had a blast in Key West!

Such great customer service. From the moment we arrived Theresa was very helpful and even got us checked in early at 9am! The staff was always walking around to check in on everything and were so helpful. I would like to give Dave the bartender, Suery the expediter, and Gavin our server a huge shout out. All of them went above and beyond to make conversations with us while working their tails off. They were always busy but pulled it together to help wait on everyone and thank customers for their patience. Would come back and highly recommend!

Got a margarita at check in, which was great. The property was clean and well maintained. The room was more than what was expected for what what paid. While located on the beach away from attractions, there is a shuttle that drives you to the action. The drivers are knowledgeable about the best places to go. Only warning to give is for the snack bar, no prices are listed and they won't tell you before they charge you because it's outrageous. 9/10 gonna def do it again.

Overall fantastic! Everything was as expected. Pool was perfect, a lot of families with splashing kids but that is okay. Food and drinks were delicious and the bartenders were very friendly. Rooms were kept up and exactly what we needed. Hourly shuttle to downtown was nice, right across from smathers beach. Would stay again.

Just got back from our trip to Key West. We chose this resort because we have stayed at 2 other Margaritaville resorts that we loved. I will say, this was our least favorite property. Let me start with the positives. The service from all the staff was very good. Many kind, friendly people that made us feel comfortable. The rooms were nice, spacious and comfortable. The negatives, there are a few. The resort is very pricey for what you get. The bar and restaurant are very expensive, so we chose not to eat or drink much on property. We were also very disappointed by the lack of things to do on property. The pool is very small for the size of the resort and was very crowded and hot during the peak of the afternoon sun. Across the street is a beach that the resort offers no chairs or umbrellas for. There is a pretty high daily resort fee that does not match what the resort actually offers. The last thing is the resort is on the quieter side of the island and requires a shuttle ride to and from the Duval street area where most of the action is day or night. We made the best of it and had a nice trip, but I would not recommend staying at this property to my friends.

Just some context, including resort fees we paid a little over $400 per night....No room service. Had to call it in and they came literally at the last minute 10 minutes before 5pm when they stop services, and since we were in the room we just handed them our full trash cans and dirty towels no other service was provided.... The pool is TINY!! It gets full very quickly and although it supposed to open at 8am they don't clean the pool until 9 or 10am. The beach is not private and the water is FULL of seaweed and ground vegetation for about 100 feet out...you have to brave walking it until you get to the clearing in the water... the water is pretty shallow AND we saw a small shark (well a family and another group near us did, we didn't see it up close). The restaurant has good food and drinks (the waitstaff and bartenders are exceptional).

We enjoyed our week here. Everyone that works here was very very nice. I want to give special praise to Bingo. He gave great recommendations for food and entertainment. He was a true gentleman and gave a lot of history on the island. He truly helped make our vacation top notch. Literally the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on.

We are still currently here we check out on sunday. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon after deciding we didn’t want to chance getting stuck in Jamaica. From check in until now everything has been great nothing bad. Room was great very spacious and clean. Hot tub and pool were great grounds are kept up nicely. Bob is absolutely amazing he drives the shuttle service to and from downtown. My only issue and I’m sure we will be laughing about it for years is housekeeping came in our room not once but twice where they had an eyeful, they kept saying we were supposed to be checked out today and insisted it was our last day. Maybe relay to staff you should knock before entering and read the do not disturb sign correctly. 😂 However stay wasn’t bad close to everything but just enough away from the loud crowds. I would definitely stay again.

Had a very nice stay in a one bedroom suite. Room was spacious and clean, everyone who worked there was very nice and the food/drinks were surprisingly good for a hotel (albeit a little pricey). Knocked off a star for two things: 1) the shuttle service is a bit of a mess. The shuttles are small and first come first serve at the top of the hour. You have to lineup 30 minutes before or else be prepared to wait for another shuttle. Cabs are a better choice. 2) While the bed was comfortable, the pillows are absolutely the worst I've ever used. Those two things said, I would absolutely stay here again

Very nice hotel, staff is very friendly and welcoming. The shuttle to town was great, leaves every hour from hotel and half hour from town. Restaurant was very nice actually! Well priced and good food. Some staff extremely nice, some just there to get the work done. It’s a bit off from town but so close to a wonderful beach!!

My husband and I spent a week in Key West. The vacation ends today. We spent six days at The Gates and one day at Margaritaville. The difference was remarkable! Unlike The Gates, every single member of the staff is friendly and accommodating. We arrived earlier than the usual check in time and the manager made sure the room was ready and since we had to wait we were given a room upgrade at no additional cost. The room was beautiful and clean. We will definitely return, and we highly recommend staying where you will be treated like a true welcome guest!

This is a quiet hotel that is centered around a pool (in November). A beach is across the street but it seems few rooms have a view of the beach. The pool has music playing all day and that seemed to be where all the energy came from. The pool got busy but was never overcrowded. This would probably be a good place for families to stay. It worked well for a weekend girls get together.

The Beach House is quite well appointed. Rooms provided relaxing views to the grounds. Each suite is quite comfortable (you may never want to get out of bed when the sun comes up). 😴 Paths about the grounds make easy access to the hotel restaurant, to the pool area, or over to the outdoor restaurant. You'll be impressed by the complimentary margarita when you arrive and how convenient the shuttle to town is. Relaxation awaits.

Service at Tin Cup Chalice was great. Food came to table quick it was delicious . Coffee in morning was dark rich and delicious. Head cleaner had Conditioner brought to my room upon request. They stock with hand soap lotion shampoo Conditioner and body wash from spa.The drivers Bob and Bingo were so nice informative and knowledgeable. Front staff very friendly and gave us free margaritas when we got there.Room was very clean and I am a professional cleaner. I will be back very soon and i will stay longer next time !

Big,clean, comfortable rooms. Would recommend on rooms only. Pool area was a little crowded because of the size. They served warm cookies and infused water in the afternoon and had fruity frozen drinks at the pool periodically. Nice touches for sure.

I must confess that I am not satisfied with the hotel. When I wanted to check in, the reservation was in the system. Then I had to pay a security deposit of $1400, although it was proven that the room had already been paid for. After long discussion, only $200 should be deposited as security. However, $200 was charged rapidly. The reserved twin room was also nothing because, despite the reservation, all were already taken. The hotel also did not want to make an upgrade. In summary, it was not a good experience.

  • 5/5 Jon R. 2 years ago on Google
We had an excellent time. Jason, from the front office, was able to correct our initial problem with our room. The entire staff was truly invested in the overall guest experience and went above and beyond to make that a reality. Bob, the bus shuttle driver, was very friendly and offered great suggestions related to must do’s while on the island. I would strongly suggest considering this elegant establishment as home while visiting Key West!

Away from downtown. The rooms were good, but the AC smelled like chlorine. Fun pool and deck area. Breakfast was very good, as was the service. Beach across the street was great for a night walk in the moon light.

If you are thinking of do it your self embalming, this is the place for you. I have never in my life been so overwhelmed by the smell of perfume/deodorizer in my room. Apparently, the hotel puts impregnated strips on poison in all the vents. It is beyond sickening. I was a healthy person before staying at this place. I’ll probably need a lung transplant and some kind of skin shaving to remove all my skin that was exposed. I removed the poison strips and some how it hasn't helped. This leads me to wonder where else they hid this poison in the room. I can’t wait to leave this place. I’ll never go back.
