I should have taken the negative reviews seriously.... would have saved me a nightmare day trying to check in with them. First off- the woman at the front desk was incredibly rude when we stopped by to drop our bags off around 12:30. We understood the room wasnt ready until 4pm, but she completely talked down to me and was gruff and so so undermining. When we returned at 4pm there was a LONG line of very irate people.. it turned out NO rooms were ready due to housekeeping - or lack there of. The rooms that were "ready" it sounds like had no towels, bedding, etc. Ive never seen anything like this! I glanced into a few rooms and they were dirty and not well taken care of. I'm shocked for a Kimpton hotel to be at this level for the front desk personnel, housekeeping and shape of the rooms. I was able to luckily cancel and we re-booked at the Pier House down by Mallory Square and it was seamless and the rooms and housekeeping were amazing.

Hotel is so cute! Very convenient location. Right next to the lighthouse and Hemingway’s house. Rooms are small. But we didn’t spend anytime in it besides sleeping. This is a 100+ year old building so it does have a little musty smell. I called the front desk and they put a machine in there when we were gone to help with the humidity/smell. Service was great. Staff was friendly. They kept the breakfast full. Bed was comfy. Robes and a yoga mat are provided. Full bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Loved the boutique hotel / old time feel.

Room are really small and you could hear everything. AC is really noisy (impossible to sleep with the AC on), service is really poor (they left cleaned towels in a bag outside our room in the ground floor instead of putting it in the room) Breakfast is absolutely a joke : there is only coffee, orange juice, muffins, cereals and thats it. we've paid 500$ the night and are really disapointed like the rest of the guests that we heard were complaining for the same reasons. Avoid this hotel

An hen house paid like a palace (about $600 per night)! The room was little, dirty, with a ridiculous restroom open to the room and a super loud window air conditioner. We have succeed to have the room cleaned (in 11 minutes) only once in 4 nights. A total nightmare. There are much better hotels for much less money. I wonder how IHG put its name in a so bad hotel!

The property is populated by roosters that crow every morning starting at 4:30am -- be warned! Laura (the manager) was awesome about it and handled it perfectly and with a dash of fun humor when I pointed out that they might want to warn guests or provide earplugs (they DO have earplugs at the front desk; ask for them when you check in). Mad props for great customer service!! Other reviews say there are no dressers, but there are 4 large drawers in the base of each bed (they aren't easy to see), and some nice extras stashed in there (flashlight, safe, yoga mats). The pool is comfortably warm, the beds are soft, the continental breakfast is well-stocked (including hard-boiled eggs, bagels, fruit, great coffee, and oatmeal), and the hotel location is perfect -- one block off Duval Street and directly across the street from Hemingway House. The hotel also provides a free parking lot a short walk away, which is a huge plus so close to Duval St. Will definitely stay here again!

From when I walked in, I got a really good vibe from the hotel, it’s in a great location walkable, quiet, and the hotel itself is nice, could be updated, but overall a good space. My issues with the hotel were: 1. the pillows in the room had holes in them as you can see in the video and were stained. 2. Overall, I think they could do a better job cleaning the rooms like other reviews say. 3. Additionally, like another review says there was a cockroach in our bathroom, so be aware of that. If it wasn’t for these things, I think this could be a great hotel. It just needs better quality control, supervision, and training. A couple of things I did enjoy: the hotel is pet friendly, which was a major plus without any additional fees, it was in front of the Hemingway house, on a quiet street, and within walking distance to the southernmost point, had free breakfast, bagels, fruit, cereal and yogurt, and had a nice little seating areas around the hotel.

Tiny rooms, the hotel feels a little drab, but awesome location and friendly bar staff. This is the third Kimpton property I’ve stayed at in Key West (Winslow’s and Ella’s) — I think these properties were a great idea and were probably wonderful when they first opened. However, since then, they all feel a little tired and not up to the Kimpton standard. The room: King room was incredibly small, and unbelievably I saw rooms that were even smaller. AC very noisy and runs nonstop (doesn’t bother me, I enjoy the noise to sleep, but others may not.) Room was very clean, comfy bed, but low ceilings and a closet bathroom. The property: mostly well kept, needs some painting and maintenance. The pool is small, but the live music was great. Nice outdoor seating areas and a lovely bar. The location: just one block from Duval and right next to Hemingway House. Perfect location. Walkable to everywhere. It’s the reason to stay here, it’s the reason we stayed here. I’d stay here again — but wish Kimpton would reinvest a little in these properties. The Hemingway suite looks lovely, but pricey.

Rooms are immaculate. Stayed at a small guest cottage with my own beautiful patio. Fabulous atmosphere. And you're staying right across the street from the famous Hemming House. Pool was absolutely perfect. A lot of very relaxing garden paradise patios with hammocks and hanging chairs. The pool side bar was amazing! This place is perfect for people who just want to relax and be on vacation, kid free!

Great location and fantastic staff! We stayed at the Lighthouse hotel after our original booking for our honeymoon fell through due to unexpected construction (totally different hotel). The Kimpton staff helped us find a great room same-day! Sky is amazing. She helped us find and hold a room that was much like what we had originally booked. She gave great dinner recommendations also. She and all the staff really went above and beyond. The room was great and the pool area is lovely. You can’t beat the location near the lighthouse and Hemingway house!

Excellent location, however, do not expect warm water. We were there for 4 nights and showered at all hours and the water was ice cold every time. Room a/c does not cool the room last enough, I'm 5'8" 155lb and I was burning up every night, and so was my wife. Toilet paper holder was also not attached to the wall (was hanging down with screw exposed). Great location, but just know what you're getting into.

Dogs are welcome. Our room had a front porch looking onto Hemingway's house. The staff were so nice and available 24/7. Limited parking here be prepared for other options. Walkable to everything in the historic key West district. Every place in key West is dog friendly so bring your furry kid with you.

First, Britney at the Front Desk understands what hospitality means! I was extremely impressed by her friendliness and attention to details. She knows how to welcome a guest! The location of the hotel is great. Right next to Hemingway's home. We arrived at 10 pm and drove past the entrance without noticing where it is! The entrance desperately needs some lighting. We were also very lucky to find a street parking right outside of the hotel. Otherwise, I do not want to imagine what the parking situation would look like. ** Please like my post of you find it informative. Thanks you! Getting to our room, from the front desk, almost required satellite navigation. Either it's my old age, or the hotel outdoor areas require more lighting, I had to fire up my cellphone flashlight s few times to reference the hotel map just to get to my room. Thankfully, I didn't have much luggage as it turned out that I had to walk through the pool gates before I can get to my room. The room itself is very spacious. But that's about the only positive thing. It lacks a desk and chair. No luggage rack, or flat surface, for you to put the suitcase either. There are signs of wet spots on the wall and ceiling. There are also ants... Occasionally on the bed as well. The doors do not have a tight seal/shut. Noises from outside, heat, and bugs had easy access. The air conditioning is also loud.

It might not be the case for all the rooms but ours was below par. The bathroom room was very small and the sink could not be used without getting water all over the floor. It seemed that maybe the lower cottage rooms may be nicer but if you are upstairs it's not a good experience. Lots of street noise, door slamming to where it shook the walls. Bed and pillows needed replacing badly. Upper Deck in need of repair. Sadly it was not the experience we had hoped for.

I absolutely love this place! From the moment I got here, Sky was very attentive and friendly at check in. She was super helpful and gave a great list of local restaurants. I already tried one and loved it! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, the room is very clean. 5 stars on the staff and the property! Can’t beat the location either. I’m still here and don’t ever want to leave!

The outdoor and pool area looks really nice. The rooms are small, and the air conditioners are window and loud. The staff was helpful in accommodating us with what they could provide. Overall very disappointed with what they offered for what they are charging compared to other hotels in the area.

Our room was nice and clean, but on our second day we had to move because the power kept going out. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed even before the power issues. They were impatient and not overly friendly.

The Kimpton Lighthouse Hotel is one of the most charming places we've ever stayed at! Adorable and well appointed bungalow with private balcony for an incredible couples getaway. We loved everything about this property, the staff and its close location to everything in Key West. It is the only place we will stay in Key West now and cannot wait to return next year!

Great staff and a nice and clean room! Limited parking spots available in front on the hotel (free), if parking is full your best bet is the free public parking 2 Blocks behind the hotel. Breakfast is good but basic.

First time staying in Key West and I chose Kimpton for the location. It is close to everything. The room I stayed in was small but the size of the room wasn't important because I was in Key West to explore. I arrived after 4 pm and had no problem checking in. The woman at the front desk was polite and efficient. My stay included a free breakfast which consisted of assorted pastries and bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt and a choice between three kinds of juices, coffee, and tea. It was basic but Key West is expensive, so I'll take a free breakfast. The room I stayed in had an old smell to it which I got use to but upon returning home all of my belongings held on to that smell. I had to air out my suitcase and backpack for a day. The room was clean and I didn't mind the sound of the a/c as I like white noise to help me fall asleep. As a solo traveler I would recommend this place but it is rather small and more than two people in a room could be challenging.

    1. The hotel is beautiful...it is tastefully done 2. Staff is friendly and had great suggestions for restaurants around. 3. The location is great. Walking distance from all key west attractions. 4. Ther is a pool but it is very small. It looked ok but too small for me to get in...but may be it's just me 5. Rooms did not have coffee or kettle but the hotel offered free breakfast which included coffee, bagels, pastries, cereals, yoghurt and boiled eggs. 6. On one of the days there was live music near the pool. 7. Hotel does have parking on location but directions are not very clear on their website so it was a little bit of a struggle to find it. Also spots are limited.

An amazing hotel in a slightly quieter part of town, but still within easy walking distance of everywhere. Front desk staff were the friendliest hotel staff that I’ve ever met! Can’t wait to return.

We passed by the hotel and went in to see what was inside. It turned out that there was live music in the bar. We asked the staff until what time the musicians perform. We were told that until 13:00. We went for a walk on the territory. At 11:50 we returned to the bar. We went inside to order drinks. We could not accept the order for 10 minutes because of some technical problems. Then we ordered a glass of wine and two cocktails. The price for the wine was not the one on the menu. The cocktails were not prepared correctly and were not tasty. When we sat down at the table at 12:05, it turned out that the musicians had finished playing. In the end, we didn't listen to the music because the staff didn't have the information what s goin on in hotel and we drinking not tasty drinks for which we were charged more money than was indicated in the menu. Terribly

SHAMEFUL! We were staying for my brother's wedding. We were given a wedding rate which admittedly seemed high but we were going for a special occasion. One room had no phone. There was no water in any of the rooms. Room service did not come by the first day. At the end of the trip we check our bank statement which revealed $6000 in charges for two rooms over 3 nights! I am currently contacting IHG and my bank but I am livid! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO as it seems there is no accountability. I am hoping this is resolved and then I will be happy to update this post but for now what a shame as otherwise we really enjoyed our time in Key West.

We stayed here recently with a group. The care of this property is sub par at best. Pool was not heated the four nights we stayed and was quite cold. There was a pail on towels with a wet floor sign as something brown dropped from the ceiling of the breakfast area. Breakfast is nothing special. The ice machine in the walkway was also broken the whole time. The hotel itself is cute with a great location, but Kimpton needs to do some upkeep on this property.

Charming hotel the first night, a nightmare the second night. We were infested with termites from hell, flying all over the room and it our beds. Long story short, they moved us but room wasn't what we had paid for. Next morning at checkout, we were offered a $40 refund, I declined, increased to $80. Keep in mind, room with tax for 2 nights was over $1,000 dollars. I again declined. Ended up with $200 credit but should have been completely refunded for 2nd night! Don't stay there and if you do, definitely don't stay in room 38. Well unless you like sleeping with termites!

Super clean. Excellent location to walk just about anywhere. Quiet at night but super close to all the fun on Duval. Talk about some of the BEST customer service ever! From check in to check out, I can’t say enough good things about the staff here. Arturo was managing the front desk when we left. Thanks for the farewell beers! We didn’t have a car (flew in and ubered) so I can’t comment on the parking. AC was great. It was strong enough to freeze someone out of the room if set to that temperature. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. To everyone saying how small it was… Almost all Key West rooms are small. It’s a tiny, old island. Go outside!

Pros: -Location -Pool area with bar -Updated rooms -Breakfast -Ron was very helpful -snorkels available at front desk Cons: -Small rooms -No bikes at the hotel as advertised on website. They will help coordinate rentals but not included with the resort fee as mentioned. - not much indoor space at the entire hotel if it is raining

Quaint and cozy. The continental breakfast was nice and the pool is cute. Some spots to eat and lounge are provided near the pool. The rooms are tight but nice. Parking is a royal pain. There is a paid to park lot 2 blocks away.

  • 3/5 Gracie W. 1 year ago on Google
The vibe was very relaxing and tropical. Leila at the bar was amazing and very sweet. The live music at the pool was phenomenal and really made the stay that much better. The walls are thin so was woken up by the chickens bright and early which was charming the first night, not so much by night four of no sleep. The AC was loud and there were several odd soft spots in the foundation that was had to tiptoe around as to not ruin the floor any further than how it was when we found it. Staff was very well mannered and pleasant and house keeping continuously checked in when we were out and about to see if we needed anything since they couldn’t come in our room with our dogs in there.

So this cute Boutique Hotel was adorbs . Parking not great we went for Bike week (Motorcycle) and we had to park about 2 blocks away since that’s where the parking is . When we checked in the young lady was so nice she explained everything to us including where to be able to park the motorcycle. Rooms were super cute the ceiling does need some repairs but over all so cute . Pool was perfect we enjoyed our stay here . With the exception of the elder lady in the front on the second day who wasn’t so nice my husband was telling her we had to park bike in another area for the 15 min parking and she said she was going to have it towed! Not friendly at all she had No manners . Other than that it’s a super chic bed and breakfast!!!
