We had a horrible experience at this property. First there was no bar or food service at the hotel during our entire stay. We checked in and paid for a room that would hold three people (which we paid more for). They person at the front desk when we asked for a good brunch spot told us about a restaurant (that I knew was closed for the next month). Had no suggestions for restaurants in surrounding area. When we came home in the evening the second bed (pull our couch) had no bedding. Tried to call the front desk. The phone didn’t work. Used cell phone and found out there is no front desk staff but an overnight manager for multiple properties. They had to go to three different properties to acquire bedding which took over an hr. So 1am we got bedding and then realized there was no blanket but just sheets. Called her back and waited another 30min. This is now 1:30am. And her response when I opened the door was did you check the cabinets. There are no cabinets in these hotels. There is a desk with a pencil draw and a night stand with a mini fridge. There is no closet but a hanging coat rack. So you tell me where there is a cabinet. Also what kind of hotel doesn’t have a linen closet on site that can pull extra pillows and bedding. They also added an additional charge that we have no idea what it is on our credit card, left no description. We parked on the street so was not parking and since there was no food option clearly didn’t pay for food It was terrible and for the money we paid to stay there for one night I would NEVER go back.

Worst experience ever! Stay far away from this place. For $600 a night, we felt like we were staying at a $60 motel. A/c wasn’t working, bugs in the room, stains and holes on the bed sheets. Asked for a refund and they gave me $200 back of my $1800 stay. The manager was supposed to call us to resolve and he never called after I left 3 messages. Kimpton couldn’t even be bothered to get involved.

I stay at Kimpton a lot. This one is nice, just a tough location. The parking is very very tight. The room I had faced the street so it was loud at night. I would recommend you specifically ask for an inner room. The pool is cute but small. The other Kimpton down the street is honestly much better. I stayed there last year and the pool is larger, has a bar and features live music. No coffee in the room, so you’ll need to wander to the pool area for it. There is a cute porch to sit on and people watch, but again, with that you have to accept the noise level. Room was super cute, but really compact.

Location. Location. Location. And this is NOT IT! I thought a Kimpton hotel would be excellent, but I was surely wrong. Our room on the porch along Simonton was EXTREMELY LOUD - all day and all night. There was an ENDLESS parade of LOUD cars, buses, trucks, and motorbikes with periodic LOUD music at all hours of the day AND night. The speed at which these vehicles passed by in the night is astonishing. The Navy jets and airliners provide almost constant overhead noise during the day as well. Did I mention that the fire station is one block away so sirens are a regular assault as well? We were awakened in the middle of the night multiple times by loud voices using vulgar and abusive language (next door or outside?) and then kept awake by roosters that started crowing at 3:45am and kept going until well past dawn. Then, the staff rearranged the furniture in the early morning hours on our porch. The room had ZERO sound insulation, the shutters were broken, and the doors are sticky and must be slammed to shut them. Oh, and a spaces above the door and frame added insult. The only way to mask the noise was to run the loud AC but it went in and off all night. The sink is so small that you can’t wash your face without splashing water all over the bathroom floor. There was no place to put our stuff - no drawers, only a hanging rack with a sloped edge. The “free” breakfast was just meh (packages of cold cereal or instant oatmeal, sweetened yogurt, bagels/muffins, oranges, and hard boiled eggs). Did I mention the bugs? I woke up with bites on my arms and legs. I’ve traveled on 6 continents and this was one of the very worst hotels of my life. If you’re making a reservation for someone you don’t like, this would be a great choice. Otherwise choose something else. Other than convenient power outlets next to the bed, I really have nothing positive to offer. For the price, I expected a much better experience and would never stay here again, nor recommend this hotel.

Rooms were NOT like the advertisement. They were extremely small. Pool is TINY with very few lounge chairs. Location was sketchy at best. Would not recommend nor would I stay here again. Lady at check in was amazing.

We checked-in late, however informed the property of our arrival, NO welcome drinks as advertised under guest amenities that were CHARGED for. Our room and bathroom were infested with ROACHES and BUGS. The room we were given was looking onto Simonton St, which made for a NOISY, SLEEPLESS night. The property seemed good on paper, but unfortunately that is NOT the case IRL. 0/5 stars.

The housekeeping/service was far below what we expected. Housekeeping repeatedly forgot to replace items in our room like towels and toilet paper when they were out or taken. They also told us they ran out of wash clothes so they couldn’t provide any after they had taken ours. They also forgot to stock items in the breakfast/common area. The room was one of the smallest I’ve ever seen and not very well laid out to get ready. The location was about the only good thing about this place.

Honestly I don't even know how to begin this review. Would I personally stay there again ABSOLUTELY NOT !!!!! My husband and I were here for work and stayed at Ella's for 5 days. The resort was honestly beautiful. However, what happened changed my entire feeling of this place. I had forgotten a bag containing some of my clothes and as soon as I realized it (same day) we contacted the hotel(no one is on-site till early morning) so 1st thing in the morning I drove over to gather my belongings. Unfortunately, 1 of the housekeeping employees had taken that bag. She did NOT follow protocol (turn it into the front desk). Instead she hid the items in the housekeeping room but not before she went through my bag and took what she wanted from it. This girl had broken so many protocols (she never marked the room clean, she didnt tell management the room was ready for inspection, she didn't take items to front desk so they could be returned to us, she hid personal items in a back housekeeping room)that it makes you wonder now who enters your room when your not there and how many people lose items on the regular. Needless to say I feel violated by this girl. She has created a sense of uneasiness within me now that I cannot shake. We travel alot for work and now I look at it all very differently. I know that the whole staff isn't responsible for what happened and I don't blame them at all. It's the common story of it only takes 1 to ruin things. Anyways, I will never see my stuff again (it is what it is) but I don't want this to happen to anyone else if possible. I suggest having the small luggage locks and lock everything when you leave your room and take special caution with your expensive things.

Great location, lovely garden, and the receptionist on the morning shift was super nice and accommodating, she went out of her way to help us rent bikes. However, there was one big issue, our room had paper thin walls. It was extremely noisy, we could hear everything from roosters, cars, guests in adjacent rooms, making it impossible to get a good night’s rest.

Basically have the same feeling with other review with low rating. The hotel has nice deco, friendly staff, great location, but I was very disappointed with the room. I have booked the essential room, which is badly designed for the following reasons: 1. The room is really small, probably half size of what one would expected. It was hard for us to put in our luggages, or find a place to sit down. 2. The bathroom is small, and it was impossible to use the toilet using the normally position - our head would hit the wall. The sink is small so it was hard to wash faces or bush teeth. 3. The room is right next to the road, so you can hear the noise from the cars passing by. 4. The room’s door is facing the road directly, and people from the street can see through the whole room when the room door is opened. Very inconvenient and zero privacy. 5. The floor buckled at two places. I think people will easily be tripped and it is not safe. 6. There is only one window in the whole room (no window in the bathroom) and it is facing the road. Basically you will need to close the window shades the whole time. I don’t expect these when paying 300-400 for a night. If you are looking into this hotel, I recommend staying away from the “essential” room to get a relax vacation experience, but you will pay even more. I included a few photos. I basically stand against the walls to take those pictures.

My girlfriends and I chose this place to stay for my bachelorette weekend without knowing much about Key West. Let me tell you this was the perfect spot!! It is a block away from Duval Street where all of the fun is at. We walked everywhere with no problems! Even though it is close to where the action is, it is extremely quiet. We had absolutely no issues with noise from other guests. The front desk people are very nice and accommodating. They even offered us celebratory arrival drinks! The décor of the cottages (interior and exterior) is phenomenal. So beautiful and clean. We were so comfortable in our two-bedroom suite and pull out couch. Also, there is an old friendly cat named Jeffrey who lounges around the property. He was such a pleasant addition to our stay. Overall, I am so pleased with Kimpton Ella's Cottages and would definitely stay again if I'm blessed to get the chance to return to Key West.

Completely stunning property nestled in the heart of Key West's Old Town. Kelsey at reception was amazing! Room was spacious and private. Aircon was ice cold with a big fan to keep it circulating. Shower had great pressure and temp. Mini fridge was good and cold. We had a private patio which was great for relaxing. Some things you should be aware of: the entire property i no smoking, so my boyfriend had to walk outside the property to smoke, which is not convenient. The pool is not for swimming at all-it's only about 10 feet long by maybe 10 feet wide, if that. Most evenings the pool was full of people drinking and making noise so we did not utilize it much. Breakfast was just continental but with fresh juices and bagels (not the stale stuff at cheap hotels). Also if you are an IHG member you have access to bottled water, tea and coffee all day, which we took advantage of. Our patio was surrounded by palm trees and shrubs, making it very private. We loved this. We will totally be back on our next trip to Key West!

Stayed at Kimpton Ella's cottages over Friday and Saturday night and booked to stay in a King room. The location is excellent and the staff are very obliging but I was not impressed with the accommodation at all. The rooms are very small and basic, functional at best. The bathroom has no room for a shelf to put any items on. The loud A/C units in the rooms and nearby reception meant we slept with earplugs each night and the rooms face directly onto the road, which is around 10 feet away from the front door. The breakfast was adequate for what we needed (although not exactly extensive) and the the pool area doubles nicely as outdoor breakfast area. Including taxes, a two night stay was $755 which is way over the odds for this hotel. Next time we come ro Key West, will be staying next door at the Paradise Inn which looked far nicer for a similar price.

So cosy and nice little hotel which is located close to everything. Employees were so nice, it was kept clean and as a bonus breakfast was included together with an all day kitchen where we could have cold water or make ourselves a cup of tea, coffee or chokolade. Pool was small, but worked perfectly for us. We stayed for three nights in a 2 room suite with our four kids aged from 7 to 23.

Overall a wonderful hotel. We stayed here for 4 days. The staff is super helpful, there’s free parking for guests, and the pool is just perfect. The room we stayed in was on the smaller side.

This is a small very well maintained hotel that has alot of charm close to downtown key west. The rooms are modern and cozy. They have a continental breakfast every morning. The front desk agent was very helpful and can give you advice on wherever your looking towards doing in the area's surrounding the keys. Parking is very limited and I would suggest only smaller cars not truck as the roads are very narrow and congested so be advised.

I had a great stay here. Jabora was great at checkin. My room was upgraded and it was way nicer than expected. The staff throughout the stay were invisible unless I needed them just how I like it. Location is also excellent for old town Key West excursions.

Ella’s was a great stay for our first time in Key West. Very central location making it easy to walk or bike to everything you want.

Great location, very accommodating for items we had shipped ahead, quaint and quiet. We didn’t have a single issue, except I did not realize quite how small the rooms are, which isn’t a surprise for Key West, but if you are more than two people, I would recommend booking at least the King Premium Patio. We weren’t in the room much anyway so it was fine for 3 nights!

Lovely, clean and well kept place - in a GREAT location! The staff are sweet and friendly and super helpful. AS other reviews state, the "street king" rooms are kinda small and literally face the street - but not a major issue. CEntrally located and Walking distance to everything in old town. I would definitely love to stay here again!

Kimpton Ella's Cottage is a perfectly quaint getaway from the bustling streets of Key West. The moment you enter the property, you feel tucked away in a boutique and trendy-style cottage. It's a small property with approximately 22 rooms. The pool area is clean, always stacked with towels, and easy to access. Each morning, you can visit the kitchen room where we had continental breakfast with yogurts, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, cereals, coffee, tea, and more. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that housekeeping wasn't consistent. There were days we were out until 4PM and our room was still unattended to. With an improvement in faster turnover with housekeeping, I would give this property 5 stars!

It is SUCH an amazing feeling when you walk into an establishment and are greeted by the staff there like they are truly DELIGHTED to see you even though you've never met them before!! One rarely will experience this but you will here! Jeremy made such an amazing first impression that even if everything else was unimpressive I likely would not even have noticed. That was not the case though and I will get to those details! But first, Jeremy, property manager, greeted me like he was so happy I was there! He and this supervisor then went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure our stay was exceptional! We are forever, forever grateful! (My dad is still doing well by the way Jeremy! :) Kassandra was just as lovely with a brilliant smile and warm professionalism that was just outstanding. She too was extremely helpful. The rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable. The property is modern and well appointed in every regard. You will also have access to their other lovely resort properties in the area which are very close by! The landscaping is immaculate. The pool was sparkling clean. Housekeeping staff were awesome! The parking was complementary and plentiful with generous sized spaces. Jeffrey the resident cat is adorable and everyone here will make your pets feel super welcome - that in itself was wonderful! You will simply feel so much peace here! I did not want to leave upon check out and would have gladly stayed so much longer if possible. I will certainly return very soon! This property is highly recommended without reservation by me and you will not regret treating yourself by booking a stay here!!

We had a great stay here for my birthday week. We were greeted with a boozy welcome by Jenny at the front desk and she was only a text away for any requests we had. We stayed in the signature king patio with sofa bed. I was worried about the size of the room initially because there weren’t many pictures online. Luckily it was the perfect size for the two of us and a toddler in a pack and play. The property is just a short walk away from all the action on Duval street as well as other tourist attractions. We will definitely be coming back here for our next trip to Key West. Don’t forget to say hi to Jefferey the friendly hotel cat roaming around the property.

I love Kimpton hotels and oh my goodness this one is amazing. Only one block from Duval and the room is adorable. We had the King in room 2 and enjoyed sitting on the porch before we headed to dinner. The bed was amazing with fluffy cold sheets, like sleeping in a cloud. I love the Atelier Bloem products, especially geranium and mandarin citrus. Cotton kimono robes are also provided, and the room was spotless. The pool looks pretty great too, next time we’ll be sure to save time for it. The rooster started crowing at 3:47 am but that’s the charm of Key West!

Lovely setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple fare - Bagels, muffins, yogurt, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, and pods for coffee, tea, hot cocoa. Room and bathroom were a little tired. Our entry door and balcony door weatherstripping. Even though it was a non-smoking hotel, people did smoke in the parking lot. The prevailing wind brought it right into our room through gaps around the door. The gaps also let in lots of noise from the air conditioner across the stairwell. I hate to think how much storm water seeps in and energy is wasted. The bathroom needed fresh paint. The sink counter had rust stains.

Love this place. Stayed in 2 bed with patio # 20. Near the pool and kitchen. They have water bottles, Keurig coffee maker, tea available in the kitchen area. Decent Breakfast items (not hot). Parking right behind the buildings.

We had a great few nights here. We rented two rooms. Myself, my wife, and our 3 year in one room, my wife's parents in the other. No complaints from anyone! Beds were comfortable, towels nice and soft. The pool is small but the PERFECT size for our little one. The kitchen is quaint and the "Continental" breakfast had a ton of options. The boozy welcome was great and they made sure every adult had a drink. Parking was a little sketch, only in that you have to go down a tight street to get to the gravel lot, but that's just a minor detail.

Really cute place. The room was nice and the decorations tasteful. Everything was clean. The pool was small but my son didn’t care. The welcome drinks and afternoon refresher (served after 1 pm at your leisure) were awesome and the garden feel of the whole place was really cool. We thought the breakfast was a little lacking given the price of the room but not sure what could be done to improve it, maybe more locally made selections would be nice. Got a lot of texts letting us know about activities at the various properties but we didn’t have time to check them out. Parking was hard to find, go down elizabeth and turn on Pretonia then watch for the sign to the left near the intersection with Simonton.

Great location, pretty room, & really beautiful property. Nice places around the pool to have breakfast (nice), read, relax. Helpful & friendly staff too. Some things they could do better- There wasn’t a place to set a 2nd suitcase- but theres a large rolling hanger rack wasting space. . No place to set anything in the bathroom. Nothing. Not even a tiny shelf for a makeup bag. For the price, we didn’t expect peeling paint in the bathroom, a rotting porch roof, a dead battery in the thermostat, and it would’ve been nice to have a towel for stepping on out of the shower. This is a major corporation, not a mom and pop shop. They should have those ducks in a row.
