We stayed in the apartment upstairs for an evening on duval st. The tv and Wi-Fi didn’t work, there was no soap/shampoo, the blinds were broken so we couldn’t see out onto the street and the power surged throughout the night and went out in the morning. The power was on everywhere else on the street so I assume it is something that was going on specifically with this building. Basically paid for a bed with convenience.

Our stay was a week long with the Smallest Bar Inn and was a great trip. I came in with zero expectations after reading reviews and honestly just wanting to enjoy the time I would have with family. But I do have to tell you all, most of those reviews are untrue based off my experience. We arrived Sunday evening and checked in at the bar. The guest rooms are tucked behind this amazing Cuban restaurant and the entire area is in a prime location. Our room was clean, had fresh towels, and a cold fridge. The only thing I didn’t like was the shear curtains we had in our room. Made it a little uncomfortable because anyone could look into our room. However, it didn’t ruin the experience because we had a twin mattress we put in front of our door to block the view. The upstairs has a great common area to mingle. The music wasn’t excessively loud considering it was spring break. Overall this place is a hidden gem in Duval!!!

Very very noisy! If you want to sleep… forget it, it will not happen until 2:30am! The bathroom shower is super small, no amenities in the bathroom other than soap and towels. Beds are not that comfortable. The floors creek everywhere. No safe in the room to hide your valuables, someone could easily break into your room. NO parking for your vehicle as we were told that there would be, so you have to find parking 2 blocks away and pay $20.00 per day. They have no lobby, no breakfast, no free coffee. Definitely NOT worth what we paid for! Not worth more than $80.00 a night.

Heads up! They don’t have wifi here, and their showers are pretty small. If you’re a bigger person you might want to book a room somewhere else. To find the place can be confusing too. You’ll need to check in at The Smallest Bar, and then go a couple doors down the street and walk into a Cuban restaurant. The rooms are tucked behind the restaurant. Just ask where to go when you check in and you should be fine. Other than that, I definitely think this place was worth the price! The rooms aren’t huge but they’re big enough. The rooms are clean and they provide necessities like towels and such. I have a few minor complaints. Only half the wall outlets work, and they don’t have wifi.

While the location is great, the room not so much! The rooms are all advertised as a queen and twin bed, however, it doesn’t tell you the twin bed is a mattress in the closet you put on the floor. Our TV wouldn’t even turn on. Teeny, tiny shower, can barely shampoo your hair without it being washed out at the same time. Call to check in and was told check in was between 1-130 local time but we weren’t able to check in until 3 but adamant check out is at 11 with no true safe place for luggage on a late flight out. Call the number and you’re lucky if anyone answered. This will be my first and last time staying at this property! I did post all true things! I just checked out yesterday, 12/25/21! Notice the owner calls you a liar when it isn’t a good review! What does Comcast not working have to do with the fact the TV would not even turn on?? Again, I would not recommend this place!

We have a place in Islamorada so I regularly come to Key West for a couple days at a time. Usually we stay at more luxury/high-end hotels in Key West but I’ve always wanted to give the Smallest Bar Inn a try, especially because we were only staying two nights. Overall I am so glad we did, and I would do it again. I read some of the other reviews before our stay and was slightly nervous. Obviously this isn’t a 5 star hotel but it checked all of my ‘most important boxes’. Safe, Clean, close to the bars 😉. Also to state the obvious it is extremely cheap compared to any other hotel, Airbnb, resort that would get you even remotely close to the same area that Smallest Bar Inn is in. Recently there were two negative reviews posted so I’m going to give my opinions on the perceived issues they brought up. 1) The bathroom shower is not that small. I’m 5’10 & have longer hair than most and didn’t have trouble. 2) The amenities in the bathroom were the same as anywhere else, besides shampoo/conditioner. There’s a CVS 100 steps down the street where I picked some up. 3) I don’t remember the floors being creaky but if they were, no shiz, it’s a historic building for as long as some of Duval street has been around. 4)There wasn’t a safe in the room ( I do like safes and regularly use them), but we locked our door every time and I didn’t have any feeling that it was ‘unsafe’. 5) Don’t rent a car in Key West. Wait and rent one until you drive up the keys. If you do rent a car then it would probably be prudent to stay at a location that has a garage (and is $400-500 more a night). 6) The ‘No lobby, no breakfast, no coffee’ comment made me lol. There’s a million cute breakfast places to go all around the Inn, go there. Otherwise, again, go somewhere where it’s $400-$500 more a night and I’m sure they’ll have breakfast. 7) It was usually ‘noisy’ in between about Noon-10PM from the Cuban restaurant below. I don’t think we were ever in our room during these times except to maybe freshen up. Personally, I feel like the music added to the ambiance of staying in a cute little hotel right on Duval street and to me it wasn’t loud enough to actually cause any type of an issue. 8) I have no idea if the TV turned on or not as we didn’t try to watch TV while in wonderful Key West. 9) For anyone struggling to make a 4PM check-in time work, I would recommend Paradise Porters. They can pick up, store, and deliver your bags for a cheap fee. One night we got back to our room at 1AM and the bartender that night was closing up shop. He gave us two big ice waters which was much needed and much appreciated 😊. I would 100% stay here again. We stayed right before Thanksgiving, Nov 2021.

Just got back from our stay and I must say… I don’t think you can get any closer to the fun and action. The location was amazing. I liked how the rooms were tucked away near the backside of the restaurant. There’s a cool little tropical pathway that makes it feel like you’re in your own secret hideout on Duval st. The staff at the bar were cool too. If your looking for a basic room in the most happening area of Key West, this is it. I know for a fact when I visit I’ll be staying here again.

I cant speak for the hotel side of the business because I've never stayed there. When it comes to the bar there is nothing more fun than being in there enjoying drinks and people watching. All these negative reviews seem like they're from some high maintenance people that expect to be staying a Ritz style hotel with a fancy bar. That's not this place's vibe so if that's what you're looking for don't book here then b**** when its not that. Nonetheless, awesome bar in the perfect location!

Studio 1 and studio 2 were great, no problems at all! I will try to address all the negative (lies???) reviews that almost scared us out of booking. CLEANLINESS: There was nothing dirty in the room, let alone "disgusting". BROKEN/NON-WORKING: Everyone worked, lights, lamps, outlets (note: wired to switches, switch must be on). BUGS none spotted, living or dead, except one palmetto bug the day it rained a lot. SHOWER SIZE: I am 6.0, husband is 6.6, other than having to duck a little to watch head, no problem turning around in shower. I would say it's about the same size as a cruise ship, maybe a tad bigger. CURTAINS: being see thru, the double door had sheers, but also had drapes that were easy to pull closed, no one can see in!. NOISE: the ac drowned out 90% of the music, chatter from restaurant, if you can't handle the other 10%, KW is not a place you should visit. NO TOILETRIES: correct, they have soap, bring your own, this is not holiday inn! TV we could only get one channel, if you are watching tv in KW, you are doing it wrong and maybe KW not a right fit for you, lol. MATTRESS: no hills, valleys, not hard as a rock or too soft. Full size bed frame and mattress in Studio 1 and 2. PERSONNEL: the manager and his son were both very nice to us. Have to walk thru a restaurant to get to room. No, you walk beside the restaurant courtyard. The place also has a second level common area with chairs and table to seat 10, we thought that was a nice addition. Plus the havana dreams and smallest bar are right there and this is a very short walk to eveything on the best end of KW.

Fantastic little hotel, right on the strip. You would think it would be really noisy but we honestly NEVER heard the music from inside our beautiful room. The staff here is super friendly and fun. They asked several times if we needed anything and how we were enjoying our trip. My only note would be to tell you to bring your "necessary" items with you. Our room did have a kitchenette with a coffee maker but no coffee (luckily I was prepared). They also do not have a hair dryer in the room, (which I was not prepared for) but it wasn't the end of the world for me. The price was fantastic and will definitely be staying here again and again. Thanks to the hotel management and staff for the great experience!!! A++++++

I went to Key West Impromptu trip, and needed a place to stay that was right off of Duval Street. Found this place, and it was perfect fit for what I needed especially last minute!! Room is huge, bed was comfy, wall A/C kept it cool and the location is amazing. I've read the reviews and I'm shocked about the complaints, particularly the ones about noise. Come on really? It's literally on the busiest end of Key West. Can't beat this place for the price and location. 4 stars because of parking (a couple block walk away) and the sheets/pillows were stained with makeup. Recommend for sure and will be back!
