From the outside, it doesn't look like much but you're Tennessee Williams fan or even just an American literature fan, you have to see what's inside: lovingly crafted exhibits and full of interesting ephemera. The curator is full of fascinating stories about Williams, I could listen to him talk for hours if you go to the Hemingway House you should do yourself a favor, walk a few blocks, and go to here too

Tennessee Williams lived a rather tortured life. But the truth is that life’s challenges can bring out the writer in some. Williams took refuge for some time in Key West in addition to New Orleans. I can see some similarities between the two towns. The museum does a nice job at highlighting his life. It is worth a visit to learn more about this great author.

A cozy, affordable, and informative museum founded by a local to celebrate the life and work of one of America’s greatest playwrights, Tennessee Williams. The section dedicated to Tennessee and his romantic partner, Frank Merlo, is a nice touch often missing from other museums. Why here? Because Tennessee considered it his home for more than 30 years!

Nice place, not very nice people. Got here a little late for an event in the gardens with some of my friends reading poetry. The event posting on Facebook said it was 2 hours long so I thought I’d catch the last half hour at least and mingle with my fellow poets. The looks from the people inside as I biked up should’ve warned me. As soon as I stepped inside I was abruptly told “We’re closed!” I explained why I was there and was then told quite tersely, “That’s over!” And was walked to the door. I was going to make a donation in appreciation for giving us poets a stage, but never even got to say that. Guess I’ll give my money elsewhere….

Very nicely done history of Tennessee Williams along with historical items. While not the original location in Key West where he did his best play writings it does have a scale model of his original house to see. The history from childhood till death is displayed in wall graphics and period accurate playbills, programs, etc. Though small if you like to read the items and props explanations it will take an hour plus to go through.

Lots of historical photos and documents. A great place for TW fans. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Exhibits are well done, too. In Key West, Hemingway gets all the publicity here but Tennessee Williams deserves attention, too.

If you are a fan of Tennessee Williams this is a Key West sized museum that feels just right. It was informative but not overwhelming. Tennessee wrote about people who were different than the "average joe". In many instances he could have been or was writing about himself. This made for some interesting videos to watch and become enlightened on who he really was as a human.

Just like Key West - an unexpected gem built from respect and affection of the people who live here! Can't honestly say I even knew this town was a home for this great American author. But I can't begin to say how impressed I was to spend some time inside and to learn about him. This little building on Truman shares the story of a man appreciated by so many for his talents, as told by people who knew and loved the man as a person; or so I felt as I walked through the exhibits. We had no narrator to lead us; instead we saw Tennessee Williams as told by the memories, ephemera, artwork and pictures gathered together. This is a "thinkers" exhibit so it will be as short (less than ten minutes if you breeze through) or as long (over thirty in my case) as you care for it to be.

More of a memorabilia scene than a museum. He was an absolutely brilliant writer, and given that, the place is worth a visit as a member of the historical society.

This museum was a pleasant surprise. Very small as museums go but packed with information about TW and his life and works. Lots of easy to navigate exhibits, including TWs autopsy report.

They did not allow me to enter at 4:20. An employee was there but the place was locked up tight. Don’t believe that they allow people in until 4:30 and that they close at 5:00. Not true
