We booked two boats for the Sunset Watersports Safari Ecotour that is marketed as "family fun". Please know... I am writing this review in the interest of educating other potential customers as it is not at all advertised correctly. We learned the hard way that this tour is NOT for beginner boaters and NOT for families!!! It is a high speed boat excursion on open water for expert boaters... not the "family fun" guided tour through the back-country marketed in the brochure we received at the hotel. Bridget provided a brief boating tutorial before getting in the boats. Please note: no life jackets on board and no engine cut-off lanyard (just a key) - I paid attention during my required safety certification ;) As I have not driven a boat in the past, it was taking me a little longer to be familiar with the controls and get comfortable with her instructions. I'm a quick learner and was completely motivated to get it! This trip requires boats to travel at FULL THROTTLE and, as such, it takes some practice. The throttle stuck, the boat randomly stalled, and adjusting the trim at just the right time is critical step to proper and safe operation. Through no fault of hers or ours, the small boat was trickier than we expected for a beginner to master quickly and she directed us back to the dock for safety. I appreciate her concerns and honesty. With other customers waiting on the tour, she did not have the time to provide additional practice or instruction. Be warned... no refunds!!! We were courteous and understanding, but it was just not a good experience for our family and I cannot recommend. In the interest of customer service they maybe could have offered us a partial credit toward kayaks or a cruise, but no... their policy is NO! We would have liked to try something better suited for us, but they were not willing to work with us.

Starting off if I could give these guys 10 stars would definitely. My group thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was my first experience on jet skies but i must say, the instructor made it well worth our time and was on point at all times. All in all, I/we had an awesome/extravagant time out in ocean. I would recommend anyone to try this company asap. 100%

We were on vacation in January 2019 and came to Key West. We purchased the tandum parasailing for $85 online. It was one of the best experiences of my life! My husband and I have been waiting to parasail for a long time and this was so amazing! It was so peaceful when we were sailing in the sky. The staff were very friendly, and you can pay an extra $45 for photos. The photos taken by the staff were great, and they even gave us a video of us being lowered into the water. Please note, the parasailing booth is on the other end of the beach where the boat is docked, not at this location. (Sunset Watersports have two huts!)

These guys are awesome, energetic and professional. We had a blast out there had about 15-20 minutes hangtime at about 300 feet and a few dips in the water with the absolute best views of key west. I would highly recommend Sunset Watersports for anyone looking for parasailing. We did the beach departure, you have an option between beach or downtown departure.

My 13 year old daughter & I had a blast! The view was amazing & such a smooth ride while floating over water. I was just as excited as I was nervous about this trip but the guys are extremely safety conscious & made sure everyone on the boat understood what to do in any situation if needed. We had 3 experiences 1) Parasailing- Excellent!! Definitely will do that again. The music was too loud for 10 am. 2) Sip and Sail - Excellent! The sunset was amazing. Good food, good drinks. 3) Boat Rental - Christine checked us in. She was a bit condescending and chose to instill fear and doubt about renting a boat. It seemed like a tactic to get us to hire a captain. Mike on the other hand was super sweet and encouraged us to just use common sense and it would all be ok. The time out on the water was fantastic and everything went well. I just wish Mike would have been the one to check us in. This would have made for an excellent 5 star experience all the way around.

We had THE BEST time!! Parasailing at Smathers in Key West was a honeymoon highlight! Definitely use their service! Easy to schedule! You can see from one side of the key to the other!

I booked the sunset tour (dolphins, snorkeling, sunset) with my family (2 adults, 1 youth, 1 infant) for 8/10/2022. I am very disappointed. Your itinerary and description does not describe what happened. The boat was packed. I have a disability that requires me to stay out of the sun for long periods of time, which was very hard to do because everyone seemed to flock to where the shade was. Drinks that were NOT alcoholic ran out within the first 20 minutes. Captain kept having long personal conversations with someone over the radio, instead of trying to entertain the guests. She also kept telling people that you have to tip 20% per person. She must have said it like a dozen times. We did just by luck see some dolphins, but the captain knew beforehand that we would likely not see any. Seeing as I only booked several hours before, that should have been mentioned. The website makes it sound like we WILL see dolphins. The snorkeling lasted about 45 minutes of a 3 hour tour. The captain also kept emphasizing that she was just "wasting time before going back to the dock." Why were we rushed on snorkeling, just to go waste time for people to drink beer? And don't even get me started on how BAD the snorkel equipment was. So bad, that my son actually just gave up trying. We were also taken to a place that was way too shallow and full of nothing but coral. We saw absolutely no fish. And the captain acted like she already knew there was no fish there. This was the worst experience of my entire vacation and I will never return or recommend this tour to anyone.

We booked the jet ski tour that circumnavigated Key West. Because we hadn't jet skied before, I booked the early bird tour that left out of Cow Key Marina because they only take out 4 skis per tour. I reserved 2 skis so we were half the tour. The jet skis were brand new and in great condition. Based on what I read on the sunset water sports website, this was an appropriate tour for beginners to learn to jet ski and to see the island. Unfortunately, the instruction we received was minimal - basically on how to operate the ski, but nothing that was useful to me in learning how to drive it. The water was choppy on the first half of our trip and I had a lot of trouble steering and keeping up with the rest of the group in the wind and chop. I also didn't appreciate how fast and powerful the skis are and that the ski is actually easier to handle at the faster speeds. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy the first hour of the trip as I was struggling and scared and got virtually. no help from the guide. In the last 30 minutes the water was calm and I was able to drive at full speed and actually enjoyed it. My partner, who was also new to jet skis, picked it up a lot faster than I did and did enjoy the trip. So if you're experienced or comfortable driving at high speeds, you would probably enjoy this tour.

These guys were a BLAST! Very safe and all the fun. Good group and gave us awesome local recommendations. Go for the photo package - definitely worth it looking back, so muuch fun! Good for all ages

Absolutely amazing! Shout outs to Shai and Steven for phenomenal, friendly and accommodating service and smiles. They got us all set up, went through the basic training, and provided life jackets to borrow. The Hobie boats are nice, user friendly and super fun to use. We’d definitely return!

Our experience far exceeded our expectations! The refreshments were of good quality and the staff was amazing. We will definitely be back on our next trip.

We went parasailing and it was the best experience ever. Captain and assistant were great and very comforting to us first time parasailers.

I booked here for jet skiing and snorkeling. Snorkeling was an incredible experience! Jamie was such a great guide!!! He accommodated anything we needed. Jet skiing with Jeff being our guide was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and he had a great sense of humor! He made the trip into such a memorable experience. I booked with Austin, and he responded to me anytime I had a question or needed to make a change to the reservation. We appreciate sunset sports for all of the amazing hospitality.would HIGHLY recommend!

Amazing experience! We went for the dolphin and snorkel excursion for 3 hours. The crew was so friendly and informative about the animals and facts about them. We got to see so many dolphins in the ocean. When we went snorkeling, we saw a lot of fish, stingrays, Coral and more. It was amazing! They also had all you can drink including beer.

Booked for a special birthday weekend activity and did not know what the hell I was in for! Jeff was awesome though! Very thorough and knowledgeable with the instructions.🔥Even though I was a total wreck and panicking, he controlled the situation effortlessly and got me feeling much more comfortable on the tour. I will probably never jet ski again (just because I was way too anxious), ☠️😱 BUT I would highly recommend everyone, including first timers, to tour with Jeff! Thank you! 🤩🎉

Such an amazing experience, and I would go parasailing a hundred more times with Sunset Watersports!!! Tyler and Kyle were top notch in both their personalities and their knowledge of everything. I felt safe the whole time, and truly had one of the best experiences of my life.

The staff were very polite and fun !! I wish I would have been notified that snorkeling was staying in the gulf prior to payment! No cancellation offered. Snorkeling was not good but we made the best of it.
