😠 New management is packing flights in and the airport can absolutely not handle it. The staff cant park planes, so you sit on the tarmac for an hour after landing, and ALL departing flights are late. I was born in key west and grew up with an airport that actually functioned. Key west airport cannot... People often mention airport, small, West, flights, Airport,

New management is packing flights in and the airport can absolutely not handle it. The staff cant park planes, so you sit on the tarmac for an hour after landing, and ALL departing flights are late. I was born in key west and grew up with an airport that actually functioned. Key west airport cannot handle 24 incoming flights a day, even with the hard work of dedicated staff. Do better.

It's a mixed-bag. On the one hand you've got this airport so close to paradise, but it's under-sized for the amount of volume they're trying to squeeze through it. Arrival is a bit of a challenge as there are times when the planes have a hard time finding parking (not a joke) and when you get off the plane it's total chaos trying to find checked bags. The absolute worst part of all of it is the car rental situation. You might as well be trying to rent a car in a 3rd world country. I gave an Avis specific review. Avoid if possible. Departures are a little less chaotic if you time it correctly. I would not want to take a flight out after noontime. There is only one TSA line and it slows down quickly. And afterwards if you're stuck in the tiny departure terminal you won't easily find seating. Flights tend to get delayed throughout the course of the day and I imagine it gets ugly. Bathrooms are decent and seemed well tended. The Last Bar in the terminal is pretty solid, but a little pricey. They do have some nice mixed drinks. Try the Peach Tea...and get the double.

Decent airport for its size. It is super-busy on a Saturday in high-season (February). The security screening needs to be managed by TSA directly rather than subcontracted. This would make the line flow much more smoothly and provide a better customer experience. Also, it seemed to that the guy doing the pat-downs did not need to do three different top-to-bottom pat downs and essentially grope me twice. Overzealous.

Way overcrowded. Departures lounge is its own COVID-19 superspreader. Heck, I'd bet the fire marshall would say it's too many people in one room. TSA line took two hours. They're running more flights through here than the building can handle, it's that simple.

Very small old fashioned airport where you walk the tarmac to board or deplane. The smallish waiting room for departure has 8 gates and on a Friday afternoon in August was a absolute zoo with standing room only. (See photos) Forget covid social distancing as it wasn't possible. There are minimal facilities. The good news is they have plans for a new modern facility. It may take years but hope is on the horizon.

Loved the simplicity of the airport. My only complaint is that I was very confused dropping off my rental car. I picked it up in Miami, and had never been to the airport. Signage directed me to the garage elevators. Then I had to go back down and cross the road. Then I had to drag my luggage across the road again and back up the elevators. This was hard with my luggage.. Wish they had a sign telling you at least or maybe drop boxes?

This airport is super small, and I love small airports! Downside is not that good of food selection, but there is a great outdoor area to have a nice drink. The airport needs a facelift, but it’s Key West… does it really?

Jam packed departure gates. One person running the whole food court. No bartender at the bar. Dirty bathrooms. Not enough seats for halfof the passengers. This placemeeds an expansion very soon.

Key West international Airport is a hoot! When arriving you can expect to deplane like the old school days with stairs. The inside is about as big as a poor person's closet and the luggage carousel is about the size of a bathtub. It's cute as can be. Flying out has some good food and a nice shop. Some of the TSA can live down to their expected norm but all in all this airport is amazing. WAY BETTER THAN DRIVING TO KW!

Very accommodating & kind once you land! Everyone says hello with a smile! Lots of new renovations happening and exciting changes to better the airport’s efficiency! Grabbing our luggage was swift. The car rentals are conveniently located at the carousel. Checking in to leave was flawless as well. Very hospitable & courteous. Makes u wanna stay and live here!

For a small airport, TSA was astoundingly efficient & friendly. The airport bar is unique! Not quite enough seating at the gates. Boarding is ourdoor!

A unique way to visit.. The Conch Republic. Beautiful views flying in and out with a nice tropical feel to it. Simply airport that can be very busy with cramped sitting but all a part of that "Island Airport" feeling. There is a restaurant on site with airport prices..$13 for 6 "Conch Fritters"..

Hilarious group of folks. Got delayed here and it was a shitshow but well worth the people watching …and there’s a cute outdoor area and nearby bar you can sit at. I got a salted pretzel with cheese dip and a rum drink to wash it down. Key West is reminiscent of a love affair between Panama City and Charleston.

I live in KW and love coming home to KW Airport. There is something special about stepping off a plane onto the tarmac and walking into the terminal. Bags are off-loaded and available minutes after landing. Bathrooms are right in the arrivals area. Staff throughout are always friendly...even the Sheriff's Deputy, who keeps the traffic moving from in front of the exit. General parking is about 100 yards from the entrance to "Arrivals" and the first hour is free. Handicap Parking is directly across the street of the "Arrivals" exit door. It gets busy when 2 flights arrive close together...but everyone is swiftly accommodated and on their way home or to their hotels in about a half hour. Departures are on the upper level. Drop-off is easy for everyone. Security lines can get backed up just like any airport. There are bathrooms before and after security. The Conch Flyer Restaurant has everything you need for a delicious pre-flight meal or snack, and a full-service bar. There is food available in the waiting area and a gift shop for that person on your list that you forgot to pick a gift for. The staff at all the airlines are locals and some are friends after all these years. One very special one is a local performer and beloved in Key West. (Hi Mitch 😘)

They are very crowded because they are working on improvements. It was an experience that once the construction gets done, I will enjoy than, but now oh boy.

Airport it’s self is fine…. kinda small and not enough seating but the worst part is Allegiant Airline….. Do NOT fly with them if you want to make connecting flights or leave on time…. our flight was just delayed 8 hours because they are unorganized. Our only accommodation after that is a useless $8 meal voucher…. Will not be flying with them again.

Airport is very small and is underconstruction, all staff were super friendly. If you are super early for your flight hang out in the bar restaurant upstairs when you walk in before going through TSA, once you go through TSA there are very limited food and drink options, but they weren't bad.

This airport is small and in the midst of a renovation. The staff is fantastic. My wife lost a phone and the airport folks went out of their way to make her a priority. I appreciate that kind of service and thoughtfulness.

This airport is actually pretty easy to navigate. What’s unique about it is how each aircraft parks on the tarmac and you board/deplane via a ramp which is a lot different than walking down a jetway. The ladies at the Delta ticket counter were helpful when we were checking in our luggage. The gate agents were also helpful. I only wish that Southwest flew here, I heard they used to, but ended service here several years ago.

VERY small airport but it has a full bar which is fun. Little bit of a process to get to and off the plane. You can see from the video it’s a HIKE to get to the actually airport but it is a fun element to be able to walk off the plan onto the tarmac. Advice is to rent a golf cart for the day. You’ll save a fortune in Ubers!

Great little airport! Very convenient placement and not terribly busy for us. Clearly having some upgrades for space and services. Much better than dealing with the drive from Miami. Terminal seating can get a little tight at the moment. There is a great little gift shop, bar, and alligator waiting for you on the inside. If you have kids check out the bookshop before security for the Good Night Florida Keys and other similar books.

I’d give zero stars if I could. These people are not helpful at all. Our checked bag went to Key west but my kids got sick at the airport in Newark so we never flew. Our bag has been sitting at the Key West airport for over a week and they either 1. Don’t pick up the phone when called (>30 min wait time), 2. Say “that’s not my problem, contact the airline. But the airline can’t get a hold of key west to verify where our bag is. The woman in security who answered the phone on 11/30/23 was an awful, unhelpful, lazy human being. I can’t believe she has a job still if his is how she treats people.

For such a small airport it always seems to flow smooth for us, we use it for our Tampa- Key West flights and it sure beats driving.

Would leave a zero star review if I could. We had a trip planned to fly from Newark to Key West Airport, but our children got sick at the airport in Newark and unfortunately, we were not able to board the airplane. We had already checked a bag at this point and were unable to get it back before the flight went off. So, the bag went to Key West without us. We have now been working with United to get our bag back, but the Key west airport has had ZERO response. They have done NOTHING. And are UNREACHABLE. It is ridiculous that a business can be this unresponsive to customers.
