We visited by boat and found a beautiful cove to anchor. The water was 4' deep to the beach. The entire area streched for about 600 yards along the coast. It was a little difficult to get their because of areas of very shallow water but it was worth it. We saw quite a few Great White Heron standing in the shallow water along the edge of the Key. We spent most of the day in the pristine water.

An incredibly diverse habitat. Not only the Great White Herons, but healthy seagrass, lots of sponges and mangrove islands. And sharks, rays and many other kinds of fish Make sure to study your chart before exploring this beautiful backcountry, lots of hard shallow water. Be careful.

Beautiful place to visit and explore if you have the right kind of boat. You can almost wade from island to island. Use recent aerial imagery to avoid the shoals.

I live on the border of the refuge. It is such a precious sliver of land and water. The number of birds and their diversity is incredible. I paddleboard and see dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish. It’s like a dream. I feel so lucky to live here. The refuge is proof that protecting wild places benefits all creatures.

Super beautiful, and peaceful. We went there on a sailing trip, and stayed a couple nights with Michael, Taya, and Tami.
