For
the
last
night
before
our
flight
back
home,
my
partner
and
I
decided
to
stay
in
a
"budget
place"
in
Tel
Aviv.
We
had
reasonable
expectations
regarding
the
indeed
competitive
price
per
night:
a
simple
but
clean
room
with
a
double
bed.
We
had
chosen
Momo's
Hostel
mainly
because
of
the
advertised
free
parking
for
our
rental
car
that
we
could
only
return
the
next
morning.
Entering
the
hostel,
the
splintered
glasses
at
the
front
door
gave
a
bad
first
impression.
The
smell
of
cigarettes
and
dusty
old
furniture
worsened
this
impression
further
in
the
hallway.
At
the
reception,
we
were
told
that
luckily
the
one
parking
spot
of
the
hostel
happened
to
be
free
that
night
--
located
in
a
completely
littered
backyard,
requiring
us
to
move
trash
bags
to
the
side
to
leave
our
car
there.
Given
the
very
late
hour
of
our
arrival,
and
after
some
discussion,
we
decided
to
stay
for
the
night
despite
the
nauseous
feeling
already
before
seeing
the
room.
We
decided
to
leave
our
luggage
in
the
car
and
only
took
the
bare
minimum
of
items
with
us
back
into
the
hostel.
The
room
had
an
adequate
size
but
must
have
been
renovated
the
last
time
many
decades
ago,
had
mold
in
the
bathroom
and
was
overall
just
not
clean
and
properly
maintained.
The
worst
thing
was,
however,
the
same
repellent
smell
that
apparently
permeates
every
corner
of
the
entire
building.
With
flip-flops,
we
dared
to
take
a
shower,
put
our
own
towels
over
the
pillows
and
eventually
managed
to
find
some
hours
of
sleep.
The
included
breakfast
seems
to
consist
of
some
toast
in
a
plastic
bag
and
old
fruit
next
to
it
--
but
even
before
seeing
this,
we
decided
to
leave
this
place
as
soon
and
fast
as
possible.
We
read
the
other
reviews
here
beforehand
and
still
thought:
it
will
be
okay
for
one
night
--
it
was
not.
