I have stayed in one of the shared rooms in the main apartment, and even a couple nights on the roof, and have been back as a friend since then. No matter when I arrive, there is a friendly group of people that make it easy to connect to. Lively open discussions abound, and as a woman traveling on my own, it was great to have a non-threatening environment, where I can decide if I want to tag along with a group or go out on my own. At the heart of the hostel is Shahar, someone who is friendly, open, interested and educated, and manages to juggle the different personalities and interests. It is a hostel, of course - you will most likely spend the days in the common room or outside - the shared bedrooms are great for sleeping, but probably not ideal for lounging in bed all day, reading. Because it is a hostel, I also appreciated bringing my headphones, but always slept well either way. There are outlets/ sockets around the place, outstanding wifi, a clean kitchen and even the option to do laundry. The place is tidy and clean, even the bathroom, and it is so close to everything that you can just take an easy bus or WALK... I spent literally every morning walking down to the beach for a quick breakfast, and loved the vibe of that part of TLV. This is the ideal budget solution when looking to broaden your horizon and meet amazing people. It is more personal and authentic than the large hostel chains, and Shahar is truly a host.

Just back from Israel, and this is the 3rd time I stayed at RED. It's such a wonderful place, not at all like a regular hostel, it's more like a home! It's a beautifully furnished apartment with a lovely rooftop terrace. As soon as you arrive, you are introduced to the other guests, and seems you are part of a family, rather than a hostel! Shahar is the best host you could ever imagine. An altogether wonderful experience, and looking forward to stay again on my next trip to Tel Aviv!!

I absolutely loved staying here! As a solo female traveler in her early 50's I felt so comfortable and at home at Sharar's. He is a warm kind person who will insure you are happy with your stay. The location is fantastic, so close to the beach and also great restaurants and bars. I was a bit surprised at some of the reviews. I know for a fact that Shahar has someone there cleaning everyday and found the place to be spotless. If your are looking for a dorm type place I would highly recommend Shahar's Luxury Dorm, not only do you get a clean fantastic place but will make life long friends!

For somebody who likes her own space, staying with RED was incredible and better than I had expected! Shahar is so welcoming and has this way of making anybody who steps into his home feel the highest level of comfort. The whole atmosphere is “homey” from the minute you step through the door. The actual hostel is spotless and well maintained. I would recommend coming to RED any day, and when I’m in Israel again, this will always be my accommodation of choice!! Trust me, you don’t get better than this!

Red is really home! And people there become your family no matter how long they stay. Shahar is a wonderful host, available, precise, funny and generous and know how to link people and to create a lovely atmosphere! The place is clean and comfortable, perfect location, less then 5 minutes from beach and close to the center. Plus, it's a cheap place to stay. All this makes this place unique and a place I highly recommend!

In my opinion this place is not a hostel but rather a shared flat for travellers. Here it's not about the 5 Star luxury experience but more about the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people (of all ages) from all over the world and hear their stories. And all this in a very familiar atmosphere: you might cook together, celebrate one's birthday. Or just spend the evening on the couch watching a movie together. For me this counted very much. Thank you Shahar for being such a pleasant host.

We chose this place because it was cheaper than everything else, but since we had to check in late we had to pay €15 per person as a fee, even though it stated on booking that the fee was only €15 in total and not per person when we booked. Anyways, linens and towels are dirty, wet and smelly. The bed is extremely small, I’m 1.85 and it was way to short for me. The mattress and pillow was rock-hard and the room was extremely small for the 6 beds. No curtains for the windows so everyone can see inside the room and the sun hits you at 6am. Only one bathroom on the upper floor, so you will have to wait a long time for showers etc. The owner of the hostel almost obliges you to spend time with the other guests in the common room, and he made a very unprofessional remark when me and my girlfriend were sitting on the bed together: “Don’t move around to much because it’s only made for one person” with a creepy smile and laughter. This place is really two separate apartments where he threw some beds in and called it a hostel. It’s dirty, it smells, it doesn’t have enough bathrooms and the owner is a middle aged man that wants to have friends and obliges you to stay with everyone in the common room. Spend the extra € and go to another hostel. Good position with not to much noise from the traffic. Nice view from the terrace and cold water from the fridge. The bathroom and the shower is private.

The place is in a great location, the beach, restaurants, shops, bike rentals, art galleries, everything is at hand! Definitely the best option in Tel Aviv for a comfortable, friendly stay. Shahar is a great host also, always willing to help me out, even after I left his place I could count on him.

This is most likely the best hostel, especially for single travellers, I have ever stayed at. The atmosphere created by the manager and staff is amazing. They continually encourage conversation, and I made some great friends here as a result of it. The location is awesome. The kitchen is well equipped and even provides a variety of spices. The rooms have air conditioning. I really can't ask for more (except more bathrooms, though it hasn't been much of an issue for me ;) )

I have stayed at Shahar Luxury Dorm and it was a wonderful experience for me. First of all my meeting with Shahar, he is such a good hearted person, so honest and generous. Second, the location Is perfect right in the middle of Tel Aviv, 5 minutes walk to the beach, very good restaurants in the area especially for vegan, vegetarian and regular food which gave the opportunity to experience great Israeli food. I m surly going to come back to Shahar's Place every time in Tel Aviv. Can't recommend the place enough!

I have stayed at Red 2 times already and both were an excellent experience. The host - Shahar is very responsive, friendly and always happy to help. The other staff were lovely too. This is a hostel, so don’t expect a 5-star hotel, but everything was just as described, and everything was working (the kitchen equipment, the washing machine). The location is perfect, because you can walk to almost anywhere in Tel Aviv from here, there is a bus that goes straight to the airport and there is another one that will take you to the train station. I will be happy to recommend this place to anyone visiting Tel Aviv.

The best part of my six months tour is Israel. My stay in Tel Aviv is memorable because of the Red Home for Travelers. Aside from the good neighborhood, the affordable price, the air conditioning and clean room, the kitchen availability, the bus stop, and the beach, this place has an extremely friendly staff... and Shahar is the host by excellence. Being older and a solo traveler, I felt welcome from the start. With guests from all over the world, I made friends for life. Le Heim, Kiddush, Shabbat and Israel with Love! RED is a paradise. Shahar and his volunteers make it feel like a home away from home. The beds are comfortable and everything is always clean. The views of Tel Aviv are unmatched. For some reason, this place always attracts the most amazing travelers from around the world! I have met some of the best people in my life here - there is always someone to talk to and everyone is always smiling. Even if I have been traveling on my own for months, I always have a family to come back to at RED. I have been to Tel Aviv 5 times and have stayed at RED each time. I am so thankful a place like this exists. I would never consider staying anywhere else when I come back to Israel.
