👍👍 An amazing place with a sad story :/ The most authentic sushi I’ve tasted in Israel. Or even it’s better to say - Everything was amazingly tasty! Yamatoya was established by Japanese Chef the late Aya Imatani. People often mention Japanese, tasty, sushi, good, restaurant, menu, great, Israel, dishes,

Indeed authentic. Real nice Japanese dishes. There is actually a section in the menu with hardcore Japanese dishes (eel!). No worries there is also more popular items and you even can have fries instead of rice. Fits for dinner for two but also the entire family. Pictures speak for themselves. Btw - order hot Sake and cold beer.

A friend told me about this place. Said the have great Japanese food and good sushi. I love sushi and ramen so I decided to give it a try although I doubted if I can find anything dissent in Hod-Hasharon. Well, can't say I was surprised. As a first impression this place looks like a warehouse, not a restaurant. And according to my wife not very clean either. We started with agadashi tofu which was very good and very generous. We then ordered buta ramen and kitsona udon. the Udon, based on fish stock was good and tasty. the ramen (and god, how many great ramens I ate when lived in NYC) was pale, thin and the stock had a strange taste. The noodles where over cooked and sticky. The pork was a bit too dry and the egg not cooked enough. Ramen is an art. From stock to all the ingredients and here they failed miserably. There is nothing much to say about the sushi but that it was bad. They put very little fish in their makis and too many vegetables, including carrots. We didnt enjoy the sushi at all. On the alcohol side they have a very interesting selection of sake and Japanese whisky. Bottom line - I am not going back anytime soon.

Nicely decorated giving an authentic feel this restaurant has an extensive menu giving you plenty of choices. They also have many types of sake and Japanese beer (not the token one of each as is the case in most Japanese restaurants in Israel). We found the food very tasty and the prices reasonable. Plenty of parking nearby.

Very ugly and dusty restaurant with a crazy owner yelling to the Japanese cook and employees, food is not tasty at all, not any real terrace, only few tables outsides on the parking areas front cars ! Owner is a old guy not respectful at all with customers, and very rude so we are not surprise to fin me this restaurant empty in 70% ! To go away absolutely ! Very expensive for nothing and for very bad experience with my family !! Go away for not spending your money for a crazy and irrespectul guy !!

We had a nice dinner at this place. The sushi was ok plus, the cold salad with rice noodles and other stuff was the star of the evening and the service was good. As always in Israel, overpriced. It’s a recommendable place for a quite town such as Hod HaSharon.

Best Sushi in Hod Hasharon and the area. Always fresh and always good. Also serves pregnancy Sushi. The fish and sea food sushi combination is our favorite.

Time and time again we return to Yamatoya, time and time again we enjoy it like it's our first visit. Located in a residential area, this hidden gem is a must for every sushi and Japanese culture lover in Israel. Can't recommend it enough :)

We came to celebrate a birthday Spend 600 nis and return home hungry Food was not tasty, and portions were small Service (the place was almost empty): 1. we all ordered at the same time, my dish (soup) was brought first, and I had to wait for 15 minutes to start eating (soup got cold) . 2. Two rolls of sushi we got one by one with a difference of 15 minutes Do not see us coming back

Nice looking place. We Ordered Ramen. We had to add alot of salt to the broth in order for it to be tasty and the noodles were overcooked.

So surprised to have traditional Japanese nuddles in Israel. It's delicious with special wet nuddles. Highly recommend.

Excellent food. I love their traditional Japanese menu along with the regular menu, which allows anyone I ever brought there finding something to eat (vegan, keto, celiac etc.). The service is great and always friendly and welcoming, attentive and patient. Only disadvantage imo is the hot food not working well as takeaway, so go for dine-in (unless you're craving sushi/other cold dishes).

I wouldn't rate this place as something too big. They do have a big menu with plenty of options but it's very pricey and doesn't really set any bar since every thing was avrage. I cannot say the ingredients we're more than that too. It does look nice though

Service is very nice and friendly. Japanese beer was awesome, fried calamari was amazing, noodle salad was very good. We took the traditional Japanese menu Katsudon which was very salty and fried chicken didn't look so inviting and crispy - to be fair we were notified by the waiter the traditional menu is not for everyones flavor- I would skip this dish. Sushi was tasty but I wouldn't say any better than other competitors in town. Lastly...a touch of romantic lighting, candles, etc. to the restaurant would change th entire atmosphere and change it from an open dinner feeling to a place couples really want to go out.

One of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in Israel (which is already very rare). The food is really delicuous, the atmosphere is nice and cozy and the staff is always very helpful and welcoming. I keep coming back and they never disappoint!

Very bad experience. Did not know that testing rules have changed. Ignored us at first. Then played stupid. I would not eat there if offered money.

😐 This was once a very good restaurant, the food quality was ok but did not have any special wow effect, that is expected from Chef Segev. The Burger quality was poor with hard pieces of bone in the meat . The menu is outdated and needs a major refresh. The value for money is not well justified.

😐 The food needs some major improvement in several dishes: the schnitzel coating gets separated from the chicken, the mujaddara is not seasoned enough and the lentils were somewhat under prepared, the tahini tasted very raw - no lemon, garlic or salt, the burik could also be seasoned better and contai...

👍 Decent food and nice atmosphere. We were two diners and our table was really small which made eating awkward. The table was situated between two big tables which felt crowded. We have been here before as a big group and the overall experience was better, especially as they have a few round tables.
