A magnificent place with 7 or more nations and cultures history Embedded in it's walls, a must visit place. The name "Tower of David" was first used for the Herodian tower in the 5th century CE by the Byzantine Christians, who believed the site to be the palace of King David. They borrowed the name "Tower of David" from the Song of Songs, attributed to Solomon, King David's son, who wrote: "Thy neck is like the Tower of David built with turrets, whereon there hang a thousand shields, all the armor of the mighty.

This is a very informative and scenic way to begin your journey into Jerusalem's Old City. Not only can you tour through ancient ruins - some of which date all the way back to the 11th century BCE! - but you can also learn more about why Jerusalem has played such a major role in world history. If you have the good fortune of doing a night show here, go for it! It's something that you truly have to see to believe.

What a magnificent place! Stunning ancient Architecture, with amazing history and views terrific gallery of the historic Tower of David throughout the Ages. They sell wonderful and educational timelines of the Area. A lot of walking but we’ll worth it! Views change along with the sun, which means great photo and scenic opportunities.

It is not only amazing structure and so much history around it, but it also done in such an interactive and amusing way. The whole tower is made into museum with different rooms. There are even things and games for the kids. Great view from the top. 50 shekels is single adult ticket but is totally worth it for the people who want to get a bit deeper in the history.

Fantastic, multicultural place. Huge castle that's supposed to be the home of King David cca. 3,000 years ago. Very well preserved, it's a true lifetime experience to visit. Great view from the walls. These days pretty touristy (even in the Covid pandemic era), you'd have to be fairly patient when visiting. Yet I'd say it's a must.

Love the new displays, great place to learn about the history of Jerusalem. Don't need a guided tour, plenty of detailed signs and interactive displays. Lots to see and many unique exhibits. AMAZING lookout.

Great tour. Mickey was very informative on the museum tour. The 8:30 PM Jerusalem light and sound show was very nice. It put the upcoming three weeks in perspective. I felt the history in my bones.

A must visit for first time visitors in Jerusalem as it is purported to be one of Israel’s oldest ancient historical sites with a well-curated museum. Unfortunately though, during the time of my visit in late January 2023, most indoor museum areas are closed or under renovation while some restoration works are being done on the upper areas (outdoor) of the ancient citadel walls. Nevertheless, this did not dissuade me from making my visit memorable as I have enjoyed roaming around this ancient citadel and have taken many great pictures. Touring every nook and cranny took me around 2.5 hours, and I did not even walked through the entire ancient city wall that spans thru Old Jerusalem which is an optional part of the tour. At the top of the tower, you will find stunning panoramic views of old and new city of Jerusalem including the gleaming Dome of the Rock shrine (Temple Mount) and a great view of the beautiful architecture of the city. The city’s buildings, both old and new, are mostly cladded with white stone façade that give that unique allure to the city’s architecture. Very beautiful city indeed. Please do get an audio guide as I think this is an integral part of the tour and without any, you will just be lost and nonchalant while moving around this breathtaking ancient site.

PHENOMENAL. BREATHTAKING. MESMERIZING. If you're in Jerusalem, go see it. That's all there is to say. It was the perfect finale to a three week trip which included travel all over Israel. Loved it!!!!

Brought the family for the light show. Great light effects against the walls of the tower. Small kids tend to bore after a while as it's based on the story of king David.

Can strongly recommend the Night Show about life of King David. Be aware that the entrance moved to opposite Jaffa gate for about a year ago...

Deserted on my visit, great to practically have the place to myself to roam around comfortably. Shame they've zip lines etc crossing over the courtyard as it detracts from the historical site and views.

We went there for omega gliding, it was well organized, felt safe and scary at the same time (which is good). It was nice to combine adventurous activity with historical site views.

We went for the evening light show on the history of Jerusalem which was done very well. We did not get a chance to see the rest of the Museum. There was a full house but we were able to get in and out with minimal issues. There was a nice breeze for the evening show.

Recommend is the tour, if you need to understand what faith you are. The tour explains the history of all religions. By the end you have more questions than answers but better understanding of what questions to ask. They also do tours for the deaf and people who can not be in loud places. Unsure how a wheelchair would cope. The views from the top tower are amazing, best view point I have found to date

Top most tourist place in Jerusalem . Streets are narrow. Shops sell all sorts of items, dates, spices, traditional clothes, modern dress, silver jewelleries. Better with a local guide, if not Certainly you miss the track.

The silhouette of jerusalem. Layer by layer, the history of mankind. Small but worth to visit. Have a nice panaromic view of the old town. We found chance to stay at night for the show “spectacular night”. The show was also very good. Well they told the story of jerusalem from the beginning. The story is doubtful and one sided but, you know, winners write the history.

Easy to spend a few hours here. The museum exhibits have been recently renovated and as such, everything feels brand new. 3D models, light shows, interactive displays, and movies all help convey information in an intriguing way. I'd recommend a stop here!

An absolutely spectacular light show in an archaeological wonder. The space transforms during the show to tell the history of Jerusalem through lights projected against the walls of the Tower. With pictures and music, the walls come to life. This is a must see!

Great museum in an accessible location. The observation deck is breathtaking. Take an audio guide and press #4 when you get up there. You can easily spend a couple hours there, but can go through much of it in 45 minutes so even if you are short on time, it's definitely worth it. This is a must see on a visit to Jerusalem's old city.

Had a recent trip to Jerusalem and took my family to The Tower of David. We had an informative history experience and witnessed in person with all of our senses the story of the beauty, the challenges, the architecture, the power, the strength, and all the connections with Jerusalem and other nations. Got tickets that included the tower of David's museum the 360 views and the ramparts walk. Take a good quality camera the views were breathtaking. I highly recommend this experience to anyone it was amazing! The price was $14.98 or 54 shekels per adult and $7.50 or 27 shekels per child.

Go HERE! The view is spectacular! This is an absolute must if you're in Jerusalem! You can see the golden tops of the churches that Russia (Putin) restored. You can see how far it is to Jordan and the Dead Sea! You can see across almost the entirety of the Old City!

Last stop on our Israeli road trip was Jerusalem. We didn't walk a full circuit of the walls although we did a section of it. We also visited the Tower of David Museum and Citadel, located in the Phasael Tower, one of the original towers built by Herod the Great to defend Jerusalem. The tower was incorporated into the citadel that held out against the Crusaders for 5 weeks before the capture of Jerusalem in 1099. It was then attacked, destroyed and rebuilt several times during the Crusades and the final structure now is largely a result of Mamluk and Ottoman rebuilding. It was great to wander around and look at the various layers and time periods incorporated in the buildings and ongoing excavations. The best part was the models of the city at various periods so you cold see both the size and layout but also the major buildings.

I booked tickets for the night show which was amazing, around 30mins it was good fun, although it was cold so come prepared. Earlier in the day I went around the museum, but note most of it is closed at the moment.

A site to see for sure it's incredible and I love castle's, the architecture is amazing and mind boggling to know people designed and built it, truly a destination to see and check of anyone's bucket list, the fee to walk through just about every inch of that with a few off limit places is reasonable and would definitely do it again will post pictures later!

This is a Jewish museum inside the old city with a nightly lasershow. The show is mostly based on videos and music, so, even if you don't know Hebrew, it will be a good experience. Please note that you need to book your tickets in advance and they typically prevent latecomers from entering. So, be on time. Tickes cost 62 NIS for adults (about $18).

Very interesting museum, recently renovated. The history of Jerusalem and of the three religions through new technologies, holograms, projections, interactive exhibits. The view from the Phasael tower is amazing. You need at least 1.5-2 hours to see and understand everything.

Kids really enjoyed it. It was very busy and not enough staff to take control. The family trampoline can be replaced by something more exciting 😜

Nice sights on the tower. Only ratedv3 stars as the entire inside displays were not available. It's a bit pricey for a walk on the tower. I would recommend waiting until renovations are completed if possible.

The Tower of David is an ancient citadel located near the Jaffa Gate entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. Nowdaye it is an archaeological site and a museum. It contains important archaeological finds dating back 2,700 years, and is a popular venue for benefit events, craft shows, concerts, and sound-and-light performances. The name "Tower of David" is due to Byzantine Christians who believed the site to be the palace of King David.

When you're there, book the show 'The Night Spectacular': it is a truly breathtaking multimedia light projection of the history of Jerusalem in a nutshell - highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Chen P. 8 months ago on Google
The show was lovely but not many explanations about what you see. You need to know your history before going there. The show is a video and sound illustrating the different events in the history of Jerusalem

Beautiful views, great self guided audio tours and so much history. I did find the layout a bit hard to follow and the audio guides could be difficult to use, but overall a do not miss site in Jerusalem

Beautiful and strong standing architecture that greets you once you enter the the old city through the Jaffa gate. This tower was not built by King David, despite the name.

A museum located just next to jaffa gate I would recommend to visit it if you are done with all the landmarks of the city and you have no plans than this is your place and not if your still visitng on your first day. The place have a very nice view looking over the old city and the mount of olives.

What impact do modern reviews have on such a magnificent piece of history? History speaks for itself here. Breathtaking history, structure. Beautiful. A must see. If you attend the light show (wild experience), read the pamphlet ahead of time and do a bit of research so it actually makes sense, otherwise much of its value is missed without context.

Stunning view upon (potentially) first entry into Old Jerusalem, representing some of the history that makes this region so fascinating. I would suggest that this is a location worth visiting - but would encourage some personal research (or booking a tour) to get a better sense of its historical significance.

Free tickets on Sabbath! Interesting archeological museum with good views of the old city. I also appreciated the artworks that complimented the site (including a copy of Verrochios David and some works by Dale Chihuly).

  • 4/5 Emilia M. 2 years ago on Google
We went for the night show. Very beautiful experience. Unfortunately very short. 30 minutes as it was written 45 on the website. In each case a must in jerusalem.

  • 5/5 Ettore B. 1 year ago on Google
Even if you're staying in Jerusalem for one day, it's a must see. You get one of the best lookouts of Jerusalem once you're up there in one of the towers. They got water dispensers all over the place, that was really nice. We decide not getting the guided tour, and that was a mistake since we couldn't understand what we were seeing.

  • 3/5 Virgil Ginjau - D. 10 months ago on Google
Good media exhibition presenting history of the old city of Jerusalem and its temple; some nice small scale models reproducing various states of the city. A few nice observation points, especially inwards the city. Other than that not much to see, honestly. Nothing spectacular in scale or restauration. Most walls are not very well kept.

  • 5/5 Noah L. 1 year ago on Google
Ancient fortress which is filled with signs explaining the history of the fortress and its use over the years. There is also ramparts attached to the fortress which you can walk and see beautiful views of the old city's surroundings.
