With
this
being
my
first
trip
to
Israel,
I
was
full
of
optimism
and
curiosity.
Arriving
at
Herod
Tel
Aviv
Hotel
led
me
to
an
accessible(not
requested
by
the
way)
but
decent(I
assumed)
room
that
had
a
wondrous
view
of
the
Mediterranean
beachfront.
The
hotel
obviously
was
antiquated
but
that
view
made
up
for
it.
The
outside
temp
has
reached
95
degrees
and
we
were
feeling
that
along
with
the
humidity
in
the
room.
The
A/C
was
not
working
properly.
We
called
the
front
desk
who
responded
they
would
send
maintenance
soon
to
correct
the
problem.
That
did
not
happen
as
said.
It
was
an
uncomfortable
night.
The
next
morning
around
6am,
we
told
the
front
desk
about
the
lack
of
working
A/C.
We
proceeded
to
meet
our
tour
group
and
returned
to
the
hotel
about
10
hours
later
and
was
greeted
with
cool
air.
The
comfort
was
appreciated.
We
had
ordered
room
service
for
an
evening
meal
and
was
pleasantly
surprised
at
the
expedient
and
friendly
service.
Iād
made
note
of
little
counter
space
in
the
bathroom
which
was
taken
up
by
the
hotelās
complimentary
soap,
body
lotion
and
tissues
and
in
my
humble
opinion
an
insensitive
photographic
mural
featuring
a
couple
playing
leapfrog
in
an
ADA
bathroom.
Really?
The
night
prior
to
our
checkout
we
had
an
unexpected
guest
in
the
room.
A
quite
large
Cockroach.
We
immediately
called
the
front
desk
informing
them
of
the
intrusion.
They
responded
by
saying
someone
would
be
sent
to
our
room
immediately.
What
happened?
After
no
response
from
maintenance
we
used
one
of
the
hotelās
ceramic
cups
to
contain
the
creature
until
we
checked
out
the
next
morning.
Our
stay
at
Herod
Tel
Aviv
was
for
three
days
before
we
transferred
to
a
hotel
in
Jerusalem
which
was
a
great
change
by
comparison.
This
hotel
has
a
great
location
and
needs
to
update
Its
interior
design
and
retrain
its
customer
service
staff
at
the
front
desk
and
the
outside
greeters
or
hire
younger
personnel
who
seem
to
be
more
appreciative
of
their
hotel
guests.
