Update: I got food poisoning from breakfast. I have been to dozens of hotels and this has never happened before. The room is OK (18th floor. I think we got an upgrade). View is nice. Bathroom is very small and uncomfortable. The balcony window is not soundproof and you can hear the traffic noise. Dinner was bad, no variety, salads and vegetables not fresh, Desserts are way too sweet. Very disappointing because most reviews about dinner /breakfast were very positive. Breakfast was better than dinner, although vegetables and watermelon were not fresh. Pool opens late and closes early (9 am - 5 pm). Overall in my opinion it's bad value for money.

The hotel was extremely dirty, hallways smelled like urine, the pluming was clogged so water didn't go down the drain in the sink or shower. The room wasn't cleaned, there were pieces of hair on the bed sheets and pillow cases. The furniture and carpeting is very old fashioned and old, but they claim it's on purpose for a Tel Aviv 1930's design so that they don't have to replace them. Horrible stay, average breakfast, we won't be returning. The staff didn't care and were very unhelpful.

I can say clearly that the staff is untrained and even rude and not willing to help the customers, especially on the night shift from Wednesday to Thursday 08/06/2022 to 09/06/2022, the guy at the reception was very rude and the lady wasn't helpful at all, I asked for an iron board and after a long time of waiting a broken iron board was brought to my room when I rang the reception to report that the iron board was broken for my surprise and disappointment the lady who answered the phone said she couldn't do any better. It was frustrating because it is such a good hotel, well located but the staff spoils everything....I do NOT recommend it at all.

It's an older hotel with lots of rooms and a nice beach front area and private pool. The rooms have seen better days so don't expect modern furnishings. Was here on business and the breakfast and dinner buffets were over the top with selections and what you could have. Really was impressed. The lobby / bar areas was a bit small if the hotel was busy, but the location was good for access to the beach and the overall area. Only compliant was access to outlets in the room were limited for charging electronics. Complimentary wine was nice and service was good.

First of all the location is great! Jake, the head of housekeeping on our floor, was truly superb. He made the stay feel like home. Thanks Jake! When checking in, there were several minor issues when getting us situated into the room. It required a few hours and several trips to the front desk. Boils down to a lack of detail and organization. The room was large and comfortable by European standards, but somewhat dated with its furniture. It needs upgrades to be more modern I have to say that the service was excellent. From the bellhop that was very helpful, pool staff, and housekeeping. Overall a great place to stay in Tel Aviv.

We stayed here after arriving in Tel Aviv and prior to commencing a tour of the Holy Land. The hotel is a little tired but it was clean and more than adequate. We immediately hit the beach and a swim in the Mediterranean was amazing. The hotel sits right on the beach with a vibrant and busy bike/run path, beach volleyball and surfing. The surprise was the wonderful dinner buffet. The selection was great and the quality very good. It exceeded all of my expectationsā€”would highly recommend it.

Honestly can't decide between 2 or 3 stars. I've been to many hotels in Israel and most of them have the same problem - absolutely no upkeep. I've visited just because I've had a very good deal, otherwise it wouldn't have been my choice. Pros - the location and overall holiday vibe with sea view. Service is also OK (but not when you try to reach them by phone because they don't answer). Cons - everything is so old. There's no way the hotel doesn't have money to upgrade at least some things. It looks like there haven't been any renovations in at least 30 years. The pool is tiny (better go to the beach). The hotel offers breakfast/dinner for pay so on Fridays the dinner is full of people that are not guests of the hotel and it's absolutely terrible & loud. You can get a better experience in other hotels on the beachfront or better just get a boutique hotel 15 minutes from the beach. Also the bathroom is tiny and dark and the mattress is too soft. And the parking is almost 100$ for 2 nights (but they don't have enough space for you anyway).

The hotel looks very old and used. For the price of the rooms, I was disappointed. The reception staff is very rude. I had a very simple request (change the address on the bill) and it took a full hour of discussions for them to do it and they tried to ignore me several times. The cleaning staff had much better manners than the receptionists. I expect better in such a high class hotel. The food in the restaurant was excellent though. But I still would not recommend to stay there.

Herodā€™s is an historic hotel right on the beach in Tel Aviv. It was big in the 1930s. It shows its age but was a warm and welcoming stay. You can walk right out to the beach or sit in the lobby in front of giant picture windows. The sunsets are not to be missed. They remind me of LaHina in Hawaii.

Went to the spa for a birthday massage. Positives: the room was clean and we were 10 minutes late because of traffic but they gave us the full time and the lady at the desk was polite about it. Negatives: the couple room is very basic. There is a small stool behind the door to put both sets of clothing and bags. The room itself is really small and has no decoration at all. The overall feeling is of a doctor's office. The massage itself felt like a checkup with a chiropractor. The masseuse was very talkative and even giggled when the table made squeaking sounds. While the massage itself was fine, the environment was not relaxing and we both walked out feeling like we had been to a sports therapist for physio. If that is what you are looking for, the physical feeling was fine and nothing hurt afterwards. But I would not recommend for a special occasion or for a couple. There are more romantic locations close by for the same prices.

The warm and happy welcome given to us as soon as we entered this fabulous hotel was a delight! We're well travelled and the reception staff handled all our requests and demands even when they were under a busy pressure at Shabbat. We stayed for 4 nights. Such great service and professionalism with a smile. After reading several critical reviews here I can confirm firsthand that the rooms are very clean and well maintained daily by helpfull happy staff. Towels are fluffy; all bathroom products are changed daily; floors are hoovered, windows wiped and bed linen changed daily; good room coffee machine and tea and water were all replenished daily; When the wind really blows which isn't often in Israel there can be a slight howling, but up on the 18th floor of a big hotel thats acceptable! It was lovely to have a safe sea view balcony!; Wifi was free, strong and excellent; enough to stream video and whats app video calls; The pool only opens from April to October; the Spa facilty and sauna were excellent; The food was very extensive for all cuisines; Egg station, pastries, salads, cheeses; Juice was good and fresh; Coffee excellent; We popped in for quick dinner once and the sizzling griddled lamb chops and glorious Middle eastern rice dishes were all we needed!; concierge facilties very helpful and accomodating; The main bar was excellent and professional and drinks were enjoyed whilst looking at an incredible panoramic sea view through ceiling high glass windows! Special thanks to Daniel, Albert and their teams! See you again. Gary & Carolien Manchester UK

We just had a breakfast in the hotel, we did not stay in the hotel. The hotel network has a great reputation in Israel and thus it was an interesting experience. The breakfast area requires rennovation since it is pretty old. The food selection for the breakfast was pretty standard for Israel hotels. There's a sitting area on a balcony with the nice view to the sea and marina.

We came as a couple for my wifes birthday and we had a great time. The location is superb, on the beach, very easy access, the vew is fantastic, both to the beach and the historic "Gordon pool" complex. Food wss fresh and very good and the best feature is the view to the beach and boardwalk. Only minus is the pool, a bit small, but it's irrelevant since the beach is a few seconds walk

The room was nice, nothing too special. Great sea view. Elevators were crowded as the hotel was fully booked but the staff managed to service everyone. Breakfast was very nice, a lot of choices for everyone. A few feet away from the promenade and the beach. Wonderful stay all and all.

I am so appreciative that there exists a place that still values customer service throughout the hotel. The staff were phenomenal specially Karen and Motiya ( Reception) . In my 18 years of hotel travel all around the world , the warmth and welcome of Herods staff has never failed to surprise us. The hospitality in this hotel has been nothing short of ā€œService Excellenceā€ The rooms are spacious, clean and super comfortable. Thank you once again .

Worst hotel experience. The rooms are used for drug consume and excessive parties till early mornings. Room booked for 3 people with 2 beds (one for the child) but only one bed was prepared. When asking the stuff to please prepare and being stuff for the second bed they get unfriendly. That's not a hotel that should have the name Herods. Awful experience.

Advertised as a luxury beach side hotel the only thing that was as advertised was the location. I was a guest with my wife and baby. The rooms were dated, nothing worked as it should (air con, phone in the room, kettle was filthy) the service was terrible (room wasnā€™t cleaned, crib for the baby wasnā€™t put in the room when we arrived and when it was finally brought at 10pm they left us to set it up ourselves and make the bed)ā€¦Iā€™ve had better service in youth hostels. The staff were poorly trained, always on their mobile phones and not paying attention to the guests. The female manager I spoke to was one of the rudest people Iā€™ve ever had the displeasure of speaking to. The only person who bothered to listen to my complaints and issues was the guest relations manager called Daniel who actually helped me after 3 days of suffering in this horrible hotel. Avoid this place its not worth a quarter of what they charge per night.

It was pleasant stay at one of the top rated hotels located on the scintillating beach of Tel Aviv. The hotel staff have been more than courteous and kind to meet any kind of the guests requests. The view of the beaches and the city skyscrapers from the floor where I stayed ie 14th floor was awesome. There is always a positive vibe at the reception, thanks to the smiling management. The food served is also of a very high standard in accordance to the Kosher Parve and being on the HaYarkon street, there is good connectivity to the various happening places in and around Tel Aviv and JaffašŸ˜ƒ To sum it up, great stay at a great place with amazing view of the city.šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘šŸ½

Let me start by saying the location was absolutely divine. Literally footsteps from the Mediterranean Sea. The lobby is a very nice and always stocked nice goodies. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. The food in the dining room is plentiful and delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive. Special shout outs to Yardena at the front desk and to managers Daniel and Keren who went beyond the norm to accommodate our every wish. Highly recommended spot to totally ā€œfeel ā€œ Tel Aviv!

Worst hotel I've even been to. The service was awful. Waited 2 hours for a simple burger and fries at the pool which were awful and overpriced. Chicken salad contained less than 70g of chicken. We had a big family vacation to celebrate and booked it so many months in advance - we got nothing special even though we told them specially. The life guard was angry and ruined the experience for the kids. We will never come back again! And will spread the word. Be aware. BTW we're vip of Fattal company hotel and never got such an awful experience. What a shame.

This hotel has a very convenient location and nice staff. It does appear to be fairly old and could use some renovation, but my room was nice and clean. My primary points of feedback are to have stronger WiFi and increase the staff support for the restaurant. My breakfast meals were very good, but they clearly did not have sufficient staff for keeping tables clean, utensils updated and the coffee machine properly filled. This caused me to spend a lot more time than planned on breakfast each morning. The WiFi worked at times, but at times that I needed it most, it was very inconsistent. Would not mind staying here again, but will probably check around for my next business trip.

Difficult to get any help on call. Location is awesome, room size and amenities are good. Room can be very very noisy if the wind blowing at high speed ( which is common) as balcony are not installed with sound proof seal to minimize. Can really ruin one's night.

  • 1/5 Ralph B. 1 year ago on Google
Not acceptable at all. The hotel desperately needs renovation. Rooms are worn out. Carpets does look dirty. Cables behind tv are hanging around (does not look really safe). Rust in the bathroom. In addition to that my room was not clean. Dust on desk and sideboard. Stains on surfaces. Staff is not friendly ā€¦ this seem to be the atmosphere in the whole hotel. The breakfast is a disaster. It is called Israeli breakfast and for Europeans a bit strange. However hygienic standards are not given. E.g. the bread where everybody is cutting a slide by himself ā€¦ everybody is also touching it, there is no towel to protect the bread. This is only one sample from a lot of topics letting you skip breakfast. You have to cue for a cappuccino and from time to time the guy doing it disappears. Despite of that the personal is smoking in the breakfast area ā€¦ which is a non-smoking area. I had problems with the internet connection. Connection was weak, slow with a lot of cuts. So, never again.

An old and well known hotel in tel aviv. Rooms are ok. Service is good. Breakfast has a lot of choices. Nearby you can find the beach, surfing, beach volleyball, restaurants and some 10 minutes walk away you can stroll alongside pretty cafĆØs, cool bars and fashion shops.

Anna at front desk welcomed us wonderfully even at 3 am. The club lounge was beyond our expectations and Rina was a most gracious and knowledgeable host. The drink and food choices were lovely. Except for the small bath room it was very nice accommodations.

I hesitated between 2-3 stars. The location of the hotels is fine, but it pushes the "30s" concept too far, as in the hotel really need some modernisations given the high price it makes you pay. Check-in was extremely slow as there was not enough staff, and some of them were unprepared. Staff members at the entrance of breakfast couldn't speak English, which is odd for a such a place. There first room we were given in was worn of, while the second was better. It is likely the higher floors have been renovated. There are plenty of hotels on the beach in that area of Tel Aviv. If you can afford it, pick another one.

The entire hotel is beautiful! After a long flight from the US, it was wonderful to get into our room. The room was excellent. It gave the feelings of the 30ā€™s, but with modern day amenities. The room gets loud (14th floor) when traffic is bad, you can hear everything. Location is wonderful, beach is wonderful. Overall, we highly recommend! Food was some of the best buffet style food Iā€™ve ever seen. We were blown away!

The location is amazing. We made an upgrade and got an amazing lounge access. They serve all day food and drinks which is not common in general. The lounge management was very friendly and we got some great food. Specially thanks to Rina for her great hospitality.

The great, prime location of the hotel overlooking the beach, right at the front! One of the great highlights is the business lounge, also overlooking the beach with balconies, light and very very friendly, where you feel at home thanks to Rina, who is there for you! It goes without saying that the food is superb (just ask my scales), fresh and the choice is so wide! Special thanks to Dennis at the reception! The room was comfortable, spacious, light and also with a balcony, overlooking the beach. All promissed amenities available.

Hotel is getting old and it shows. It has an undeserved 5-star classification and requires innovation asap. Outside of that, the hotel's location is perfect, and the "old Tel-Aviv" theme is kinda cool, even if a bit corny. Service was courteous (they sent me a toothbrush, which I forgot to bring) but the room service coffee was of the cheapest kind! :-(

I worked here for one year and i can say, with no hesitation, that everyone who can stay here will comeback in future, because everyone who work here like to make their job good. And if the staff like to do their job, the guests will like their rest. I hope, in future i'll have opportunity to visit Herods as a tourist.

With this being my first trip to Israel, I was full of optimism and curiosity. Arriving at Herod Tel Aviv Hotel led me to an accessible(not requested by the way) but decent(I assumed) room that had a wondrous view of the Mediterranean beachfront. The hotel obviously was antiquated but that view made up for it. The outside temp has reached 95 degrees and we were feeling that along with the humidity in the room. The A/C was not working properly. We called the front desk who responded they would send maintenance soon to correct the problem. That did not happen as said. It was an uncomfortable night. The next morning around 6am, we told the front desk about the lack of working A/C. We proceeded to meet our tour group and returned to the hotel about 10 hours later and was greeted with cool air. The comfort was appreciated. We had ordered room service for an evening meal and was pleasantly surprised at the expedient and friendly service. Iā€™d made note of little counter space in the bathroom which was taken up by the hotelā€™s complimentary soap, body lotion and tissues and in my humble opinion an insensitive photographic mural featuring a couple playing leapfrog in an ADA bathroom. Really? The night prior to our checkout we had an unexpected guest in the room. A quite large Cockroach. We immediately called the front desk informing them of the intrusion. They responded by saying someone would be sent to our room immediately. What happened? After no response from maintenance we used one of the hotelā€™s ceramic cups to contain the creature until we checked out the next morning. Our stay at Herod Tel Aviv was for three days before we transferred to a hotel in Jerusalem which was a great change by comparison. This hotel has a great location and needs to update Its interior design and retrain its customer service staff at the front desk and the outside greeters or hire younger personnel who seem to be more appreciative of their hotel guests.

  • 3/5 Lukas B. 8 months ago on Google
The hotel is extremely old and outdated. But this is generally a problem in Tel Aviv, unless you go to the downright most expensive hotels. So it's not so much a problem of this hotel, but a general problem and you can't help it in other hotels either. The breakfasts are very good and plentiful, I would recommend buying one. The rooms are very old but clean. Bathroom very small. Internet quite slow.

  • 5/5 David B. 2 years ago on Google
the entire weekend was excellent, although the hotel was a little full, the entire experience was overall excellent. the food and rooms were excellent, however the pool was a little small and in the shade most of the day. to top it all off I forgot my tablet and the housekeeper for room 1811 returned the tablet to security and I picked it up a few days later.

All in all ok good friendly staff and atmosphere, occasionally crowded. Location is awesome. A bit old fashioned and need modernization.

  • 2/5 Pin-Yu K. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel is not great. There are so many terrible designs. For example, the bathroom is not very clean. The sink in the room is so shallow that the water will easily come off. They donā€™t even have a shower curtain, so the water splits everywhere during shower. The room is very loud because the window becomes the windā€™s tunnel, so we hear the noise all the time at night. When I called the front desk, they couldnā€™t solve my problem and transferred me to room service that was already closed. When I asked the front desk to give me an empty bowl and utensils, they surprisingly donā€™t have it. The SPA area is very small, and the bathroom is dirty and torn. For the price, this hotel is so disappointing. I canā€™t believe that I have another three nights here :(

The hotel is at an amazing spot. The view from the lobby is truly mesmerizing. I checked in on 25th of January 2022. We had plans to visit the dead sea , bethlehem and Jerusalem but there was a storm forecast for the next 3 days so we had to cancel our plans. The staff at Herods is so great that I never felt my trip to Tel Aviv being incomplete. All my requests were catered with a smile the staff even surprised me with a greeting note " happy republic day" ( 26th Jan celebrated as India's republic day) and some desert and tea the next morning . My stay at Herods Tel-Aviv was amazing and I'm looking forward to coming back again. If at any time of the day you are feeling low staying at this place go down to the lobby bar. There you will find Mr. DOCTOR, the man can surely cheer you up. Great hotel Great staff 5ā from my side.

I ordered a room for birthday. First of all, we didn't get the room we ordered. Instead we got the smallest room the hotel can offer and the TV said welcome to another person. I had to argue with the front desk guy to transfer me to the ordered room. On the phone (ordering time) O've been told that I will get wine and something nice for the celebration - guess if i got it :/ . Breakfast - where to start ? I was 15 minutes in line ro get a coffee. We didb't get eggs because the line was more terrible there. The house-keeping guy was really nice, also the crew in the front desk (bellboy got himself bad reputation).

We have stayed at the hotel instead of Leonardo beach Tel-Aviv, because it was close to COVID-19, for 1 night only. The experience was poor and we gut disappointed. For start, the room facilities were poor - the room's parquet floor was broken, the window was not soundproof and we could hear everything that happened on the street. In the restroom, the plumbing was bad (I will save descriptions), and there was no shower curtain, which was mandatory because of the דhower head placement. I brought a fan with me and when I plugged it in there were sparks and I almost got electrocuted. In addition to that, the mattress was old and uncomfortable. We must say the service and gym were very good, and the food was ok too. We will not come back and we are very disappointed that Leonardo Beach Tel-Aviv send us to this hotel.

1st there is no parking with the room including the want extra 50 $ a night . Me and my wife after we celebrate our 1st night getting room with 2 beds after we order more then 30 days before ! We ask the lady in the lobby to change our bed in the earlier noon but we came in night and the said the donā€™t have how to help us . The only thing that is ok in this hotel is the sea ! Worst hotel in Tel Aviv you can get Beater take a tent and sleep on the beach. Shame of you . Donā€™t order a room in this hotel the need to make really big change for service and basic staff .take Airbnb or something the money will pay more on what you get !

The hotel is located at a perfect location on Tel Aviv Gordon beach. A perfect location near amazing beaches and the shlomo lahat promenade. You must not miss it. We stayed on the 16 floor with amazing view of the sea and the city. The hotel claims that the design inspired by Tel Aviv in the 1930's. Actually the room felt a little bit old fashioned and not so well maintained. Also the rooms are pretty small but OK for us because we didn't stay there a lot. The lounge at 17 floor is great. It offers free alcohol and great snacks and of course the view I've mentioned. The food at the dining room is good. It's not anything special but it is simple and tasty. Just what we wanted. It was clean most of the time, although they were not always quick enough with changing the tableware. For example they served steak and lamb chops at Thursday night and make your costume omelet at Friday morning. The spa is nice - dry sauna only. And we didn't like the massage very much. The pool is relatively small and have sea water, but the proximity to the beach makes it irrelevant. The hotel is clean and the staff is nice and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The restaurant staff is very friendly and helpful. Though the language is a bit of an issue with many but not anymore when mr shaul, the manager is around. Mr Shaul just goes that extra mile to comfort his guest. Loved to see him around.

Best hotel in Tel Aviv with a superb view. I had a great time during the stay. Room was so spacious. The bed was so comfy, bathroom was clean. Everything was great. A great place to have a staycation with your family and friends. Special thanks to Mr Shaul the Restraunt manager for his nice & courteous behaviour. I must say itā€™s not only the property which makes the hotel best , itā€™s the staff which makes cherry on Top šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š Thanku Mr Shaul šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

One of those hotels that have a great lobby but horrible roomsā€¦they didnā€™t clean our room (we had to call and ask when we came back in the afternoon) when they came to clean they didnā€™t replace the sheets so we had to call them again, they donā€™t refill toilet paper(had to call in middle of night for refill) on top of that rooms are not the cleanest from the Beginning (bed sheets with stains and dirty bathroom). Stay away! I wonā€™t be coming back on my next visit.

This hotel realllly frustrated me. I was told that breakfast was included and then went to breakfast thinking it was included and turns out they were charging my room. I got one day returned but had to pay for two meals I didnā€™t know I would be paying for, even when I asked! I stayed two weeks, and probably 8 of those days I had to call the front desk to have fresh water or coffee pods sent. The coffee pods werenā€™t routinely filled and room cleaning didnā€™t occur until 4pm. The hotel informational paper said that room service started at 6:30am. I called at 7:15 and they said it wasnā€™t available, I asked why and they said itā€™s not 24/7. I said then donā€™t market it as available at 6:30am. They were frustrated and then said maybe someone would call me back. They called me back 20 minutes later. Sheets werenā€™t routinely changed, only towels. Elevators were always busy, smelled. Genuinely just wasnā€™t a fan of this hotel.

The rooms are very small & old designed. The staff is very rude. No Hospitality at all. Housekeeping staff are not trained. Food is good. Superb location. The decor is very nice.
