👍👍 Great price and location in the Old city. IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that due to the occupation and apartheid, the Palestinian native population are not allowed to build or renovate their places, and they face continuous eviction threats from the settler occupiers. Since this hostel is Palestinian-owne... People often mention location, stay, hostel, great, view,

Great price and location in the Old city. IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that due to the occupation and apartheid, the Palestinian native population are not allowed to build or renovate their places, and they face continuous eviction threats from the settler occupiers. Since this hostel is Palestinian-owned they are unfortunately forbidden to do anything with it, therefore everything is old and kind of run down, but remember you are on illegally occupied land; the staff put a great effort considering the situation and the volume of guests. I'd definitely stay there again. Amazing views from the rooftop!

stayed here for one night since our Jerusalem stay was shortened a bit. It seems the hostel has moved location and our expectations were very low based on other reviews. When we entered the owner gave us a private 3bedroom with bathroom and it was a pleasurable experience. No Ritz Carlton, but the nice thick blankets and friendly staff made up for it. wifi was working well, amazing view from the top floor (accessible for 10NIS for non-residents), and a balcony overlooking the citadel made for a great experience. the bathroom could be improved on design but otherwise was functional. Would stay here again.

I had a tremandous stay at The New Petra Hostel. The place is enormous. From every dorm you have a Balcony with the best view to the streets at Jaffa Gate. In Addition, the giant rooftop gives you perhaps the best view of the old city. The staff is super friendly and flexible with booking. They will give you good advice and can help you with airport transportation. I will never forget this place!

Worst place I ever stayed and I've seen alot of hostels over the years. Conditions of the rooms concerning cleanliness, etc. are as bad as described in most reviews but by far the worst was the pathetic behaviour of the host. To be fair we were arriving very late and I would have understood if he didn't let us in but instead he did and treated us in the worst possible way. Wouldn't put a foot inside again!!

Friendly personnel, great location and affordable prices but it is natural for a hostel to have less conditions than a hotel but I give this a 5 star rating. However, I have enjoyed my stay here very much and I recommend it to anyone who is traveling on a budget. You can hear muslim daily-prayers, there are great views which can be enjoyed from the top of this building and it is basically something from a different world. Great feelings and sights.

Great price and outstanding location. All one might ask from a backpacker hostel. The dormitory's facilities are makeshift and rather shabby but in fine working condition; plenty of hot water, good water pressure and very clean. Will come back

This hostel is horrible! I stayed there for one night and I couldn't have made another one. - The stuff is unhelpful, really unfriendly and cold. - The bed wasn't changed for sure, it was horrible dirty and seemed used since a longer time before. - The toilets and showers are dirty, you must be either really desperated or really careless about any hygiene standards if you use them. Only 2 good things are the location and the view from the rooftop. If you have the chance to go to another hostel, definitely do it!!

The roof is the best part about this place. Room I stayed in was shared, but nobody else showed up so I was the only one in the room. The room had a balcony with a view of the Jaffa gate which was awesome. Our toilet did not flush, the shower water pressure was sad, and there was no toilet paper to be found anywhere. But, the sheets were clean, and the view was great so, 3 stars. And if you are looking for how to get to it, go to the Jaffa gate and enter to the left of the Swedish Christian Center. It is a small sign that is not really visible, but then you walk up some stairs and you are there.

Location, without a doubt, is perfect. Everything else is awful. From a melted plug meant for the electric water heater, gross matresses, stains on the walls and floors, a hidden array of plugs and a recording device (no idea where the cameras were, whether outside the room or inside, but the proprietor was extremely strange when questioned). Also, more expensive than other hostels, wifi only works in the sparce "common area" with a few chairs, I heard there was no kitchen but do not have first hand experience of this. Booked for three nights, left as soon as the sun rose and will not be returning after the first night. Photos found online are misleading. I was in the Army for 6 years and this was one of the worst places I've ever stayed.

Paid 65 ILS for 1 night - cheaper than most places around maybe, but you get what you pay for - garbage. I would pay 108 ILS any day again to stay in The Post Hostel (with breakfast!) or others. No door key. Unmaintained walls and cold(!) room. Unbalanced bed frames. Unwashed and broken linen. No blanket cover. Broken shower. 3-4 hanging power sockets to 8 people. The location is great (inside the Old City), but you have plenty amazing alternatives within 5-10 minutes walk (outside the Old City). Overall, disgusting place with very low standards - will never go back!

Great location, but terrible facilities! Rooms are run down, in need of a complete clean and refurbishment. No soap, very little toilet roll provided and no mirror. Air conditioning only works in some of the rooms. We booked a double room with AC only to be provided with bunk beds instead. Walls are cracked, holes in plaster and paint is peeling. Bed sheets are dirty and scratchy. The mattress were stained and old with springs completely gone. No hot water in the shower, no shower rail, toilet cistern was falling off the wall. Windows are covered in strange stickers and the sound proofing is terrible. Service is poor, staff do little to make your stay more comfortable. However, price is low considering location is superb. We did survive but would not recommend for families or a romantic stay. Better for solo-travllers or those who don't mind a rough-and-ready place to sleep.
