It takes up major events in the Iraqi jewish peoples lives post formation of the Iraqi republic in 1921 and discusses major tragedies such as the Farhud and expulsion but these per definition are not heritage set pieces, the jewish population had major contribution to the art and governance and even architecture(Homes were built with a central fountain, used for washing), it neglects the contributions of Sasson Heskel(the first finance minister of Iraq), the great artists and thier spouses have a tiny corner and is only detailed in Hebrew, It gives the impression that jews had to adjust to fit into the iraqi society in the mean while they were an essential part of the society(My grandmother still recall her jewish teacher who taught her Arabic classes and made her choose pedagogic studies to major in later on) ... Just read "The last jews of Baghdad" it gives a more vivid description of Iraqi jewish life and a more detailed testimony of expulsion.

It was an exciting and educational visit. For years I've been walking past it without knowing what it holds. I was happy to discover and have an empowering experience.

A hidden gem. A very well organized museum with many artifacts that were rescued after the fall of Sadam Hussein. Our museum guide knew her history inside out. We learnt so much even though this is part of our own history.

The best place to visit if you would like to learn more about the history and civilizations of Jewry. There are a lot of artifacts inside. What I like as an international tourist is they have english audio translation available. There weren't any problems even when I visited alone and could not understand hebrew. The staffs inside are very accommodating and welcoming to tourists. Highly recommended museum in Israel.

The Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center in Or Yehuda is a museum that tells the story of the Jewish community in Babylonia, from its ancient roots to its present-day revival in Israel. The museum is home to a large collection of artifacts, including Torah scrolls, manuscripts, and archaeological finds. There are also exhibits on Jewish life in Babylonia, including its culture, religion, and traditions. The museum is a great place to learn about the history and culture of the Babylonian Jews. It is also a great place to connect with your own Jewish roots, if you have any. The museum is open to the public and admission is free. Here are some of the things you can do at the Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center: Learn about the history of the Babylonian Jews See a collection of artifacts from Babylonia Explore exhibits on Jewish life in Babylonia Connect with your own Jewish roots The Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center is a great place to spend a few hours learning about an important part of Jewish history. I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are in the area.

Perhaps the only place in Israel that has preserved the lifestyles of Iraqi Jews. The museum also tells and shows the entire process of the Jews' migration in ancient times from the Land of Israel to Babylon, which is today's Iraq. Very interesting and recommended.

The museum is in itself a great building which features architectural elements of Jewish houses in Bagdad, with well displayed exhibits, both temporary and permanent

Wonderful experience!!! Reserved an English speaking guide that made the whole experience for our group amazing. We highly suggest Issac Amit who also speaks, hebrew, French and Arabic. He is highly knowledgeable and provided us with a true picture of how Babylonian Jews lived.

Loved the experience! My boyfriend found some of his heritage there, and books that his great, grandfather had notes in. The staff there were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, kind and truly interested in the people visiting the museum.
