Let's
start
with
the
positive:
the
location
is
sublime.
High
enough
up
Mount
Lycabettus
that
you
have
a
sensational
view
over
all
of
Athens,
the
Acropolis,
even
the
sea
from
the
rooftop
restaurant.
Walk
down
the
road,
past
little
art
galleries
and
charming
shops,
and
in
10
minutes
you
are
on
Syntagma
Square,
with
shopping
and
museums
available.
And,
er,
that's
it,
because
the
hotel
itself
is
hugely
disappointing
considering
the
prices
it
charges:
âŹ250
for
a
smallish
room
giving
out
on
the
"courtyard"
(little
more
than
a
light
well),
âŹ350
a
night
for
a
not
much
bigger
room
on
the
side
of
the
hotel
that
gives
you
a
view
(Acropolis
to
your
left
when
you're
on
the
balcony;
mostly
Lycabettus
itself
from
inside
the
room).
The
furnishing
style
is
impersonal
and
banal,
not
unlike
a
Mercure
hotel.
The
bathrooms
are
dark
and
unpractical,
with
weak
water
pressure
that
makes
it
useless
to
try
and
take
a
full
shower.
The
unheated
swimming
pool
on
the
rooftop
is
small,
the
paint
around
it
is
cracked,
and
you
have
to
take
your
shower
in
your
room
afterwards
if
you
don't
want
to
be
charged
extra
by
the
spa
(which
I
did
not
use).
In
other
words,
this
is
neither
a
five-star,
nor
a
"lifestyle"
hotel
at
all.
The
staff
were
very
nice,
but
all
looked
overworked.
I
did
not
try
the
upstairs
restaurant,
which
is
not
cheap
(a
meal
Ă
la
carte
is
above
âŹ60
a
head
without
wine,
which
will
get
you
a
truly
glorious
dinner
in
town:
in
fact,
for
less
than
that
you
can
walk
5
minutes
from
the
hotel
to
the
Lycabettus
cable
car
and
have
an
excellent
meal
on
top
of
the
hill
at
the
Orizontes
Restaurant,
a
setting
worthy
of
a
James
Bond
movie,
which
has
a
fabulous
view
over
the
city,
the
Mediterranean
and
the
closest
islands.
