One of the most fascinating museums I have visited. The Ancients Greeks were amazing inventors and scholars — scientists, mathematicians, astronomers, and so much more. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with interesting write ups, interactive features, and some videos to explain concepts. Who knew they invented the first laptop in 3rd century BC?! Staff was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the ancient technology. Don’t miss it when in Athens.

I never thought museum can be so fun and interractive. This museum is just amazing especially compared to more traditional museums laying around Acropolis. It has several big rooms there you can enjoy some ancient technology which you can not believe people could have more than two thousands years ago. Museum is very modern. For example every exhibit has a monitor there you can see technology in action! Also every exhibit has interesting and friendly written explanation or story near it. Personnel were so great and so friendly! You can ask and they will show you how some of the exhibits works in front of your eyes. Also museum have room with ancient greek armors and exhibit of ancient greek music instruments, some of them you can even touch and play on them yourself. This is my favourite museum in all Athens and I can strongly recommend everyone to visit it.

This is a must see for anyone interested in ancient and recent technology and in anyone interested in ancient Greece. Definitely recommend. There is even an interactive tour with an explanation of how the things worked. The staff is very welcoming, kind and professional. There are some famous and some less known inventions. It doesn't cover everything but it's definitely worth the time and money. I sincerely hope the museum will grow over time. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

An absolutely amazing experience. This is exactly how a science/engineering museum should be run. The staff were enthusiastic to demonstrate how the devices work and were able to answer all the questions asked. There were exhibits that you could interacted with, which really showed how they worked. This is the perfect place to visit for anyone scientifically/engineering/mathematically inclined. It is great for children of all ages too.

This is a super cool, interactive style museum that should not be missed! A bit further out to get to, but worth it. This museum covers musical instruments, ancient board games which are precursors to those still played today, weaponry, scientific achievements with hydraulics, medical equipment still in use today etc. It’s a really fascinating glimpse into an ancient culture that valued scientific discovery and laid the foundations (in the West) for future developments and discoveries.

Museums like this are amazing and give you a real insight in to Ancient Greece and it’s incredible technology. This is a must do when in Athens as sometimes certain tours don’t go into detail about each bit of advancement and technology. Loads of hands on activities and video representations and staff are very friendly and willing to answer questions!

Totally worth €10 for all three exhibits and I learned a lot. Because it was a weekday, one of the employees led us through the entire museum as a guided tour. So cool!

I just left this wonderful museum and if you have a couple hours to spare you should definitely check it out. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to explain to me everything about each and every exhibit. As for the exhibit some selves they were amazing. I am not surprised whatsoever that this museum got nominated as one of the best in Europe. Interactive museums such as these are really fun, interesting, and informative.

Very interesting museum. Spent well over an hour here. Irene was my guide and showed me the really cool technologies the ancient Greeks had. They had stuff that would be lost to history for 1000s of years. Museum was €9 for all the sections.

Amazing museum. It is small but you can find lots of really interesting ancient mechanisms. Best of all is you can interact with them. We spent more than 2 hours touching and playing with all the artifacts all fascinating. Special mention to Dimitri. Although it wasn't a guided tour, he showed and explained us many of the devices. He is really an expert, he knows perfectly all the mechanisms and its history. I highly recommend to visit this museum.

Probably the best museum in Athens, you pay 10 euros, but it's worth it. You can explore with interactive models and with the help of guides the ancient Greek technologies and the incredible advancement of that society. I loved the armour exhibition.

Very friendly staff, rich exhibition, a lot of interesting scientific engineering examples from Ancient Greek times. Some exhibits have interactive demonstrations. Museum is small enough but it’s definitely worth visiting.

Interesting exibitions of ancient Greek technologies such as robotics, measurements, telegram and astronomy, etc. while a size of facility is limited. I believe you'll be surprised to know a lot of technologies were invented more than 2000 years ago.

I am glad that I visited this very exciting museum at the heart of Athens. It was a great experience and worth every penny (€12 euros for full entry). I was lucky enough to attend their morning tour of the Ancient Greek Technologies found in the museum (including their musical instruments). The tour guides were great: one of them was the son of the owner of the museum who had great knowledge of the exhibitions and was very good and the other one was a very friendly and lovely young woman who was very passionate about the musical instruments and the exhibitions. Also, you could tell the owner did a lifetime's work to bring that museum into life. Here, you can learn a lot about how the ancient Greeks applied engineering, mathematics etc in order to create tools such as alarms, door bells, tools for lifting heavy stones etc. Although it is a bit small/cosy, the amount of things exhibited and explained is great! They explain next to each creation what it is and how it works and also have screens which do the same. In addition, they have some "board" games which ancient Greeks used to play. Finally, at the top of the floor there was an (honorary, I guess) exhibition of Nikola Tesla's works which was very informative about his inventions (was stunned to learn he even invented wireless transfer of electricity and radio signals). The staff in this section were also very friendly and helpful! One of the most exciting museums I have been to despite its small size! Definitely recommended.

This museum contains several inventions by the ancient Greeks who helped create all these magnificent temples. Even in the museum we can see some representations to get an idea of the exhibits. So those who want to admire these unique inventions should definitely visit it

Museum of Ancient Greek Technology Kotsanas - The photos are taken on September 2022. It is pretty good museum to visit and enjoy your time to see how technology developed and give some ideas to your personal projects. We almost spent 2-3 hours in the museum even though it looks small. There are many things to look at and learn. There are museum members who explains everything with small shows and presentations. It makes more attractive to first time visitors. At the end of the visit, they give you a small game as a gift.

It was a really nice experience. In my opinion, go only for the ground floor €5. There are 3 sections €5/each and if you combine them all is €12 and if you take a ticket for two the price is €8. Music instruments are on the top floor, technological inventions are on the ground floor and armours are on the lower ground. You can see some interesting inventions like the first alarm and how they work back then.

You can also see the oldest musical instruments, inventions used in army and daily life and be surprised by different facts 🤩 Also you can purchase books in different languages so the knowledge you obtained will stay with you.

This time my trip to Athens left the impression on me the museum of Ancient Greek Technology. May be some people think that museums are not very interesting, but I think quite the opposite. When you visit a museum, the gates to the temple of ancient times and art open for you. I was impressed by the unique creations of the human mind and their hands. I advise everyone to visit this museum for both adults and children (the children will discover where the origin of computers and other games came from), because it intellectually enriches your inner world, broadens your horizons, introduces you to the beautiful, allows you to experience involvement in the world and time. To my l pleasant surprise, the guides are very young. They did their work (especially Dimitris) with such love and enthusiasm, that they left a huge impression on me.

Absolute gem of a museum for science and engineering enthusiasts. Followed an Ad on the metro system to visit this fascinating museum. Entry was 10 Euros (winter) for all 3 exhibitions (main exhibition, music and armour). The exhibits are recreations from historical texts. Some may scoff at this but it brings the ancient inventions to life in a way that is rare to find in other museums. For people lacking in a heavy science background or whose first language isn't English it can be difficult to follow and imagine how the inventions work based on the display and descriptions alone. However, there are multiple interactive exhibitions. Benoit was very helpful in showing us how a number of the inventions worked and explaining the background! The staff are very warm and open to questions. The exhibitions are very heavy in information and you can easily spend 3hrs+ if you go through the majority of exhibitions. Highlights include: the Automaton, Pythagoras' cup, Plato's alarm clock, the door alarm and message/signal systems

Small but brilliant technological museum. If you are an engineer of any description this is a "must see" museum. Ancient Greek technology was amazing, including many astronomical, mechanical, signalling and encryption inventions. All the exhibits are beautifully illustrated and explained in Greek and English.

Very happy we went there. Exceeded our expectations. Not too big, but most of the artifacts are interactive. The young people working at the desk were very happy to guide us and explain the various artifacts. Going through this museum you realize how close the ancient Greeks came to discovering the steam engine and how close we were to having the industrial revolution two millennia before it actually happened.

It's a guided tour for 3,50 for students per exhibition. All ancient technologys and how it's implemented today. It takes up to 30-45 minutes with proper explanation. It was really cool. I'd say a must do/see when visiting Athens for culture.

A small and pretty museum in the center of the city. The entrance ticket is pretty expensive but it will definitely be worth every penny! The best thing is that most of the exhibits are interactive and, be assured that they will blow your mind! I tried this museum after our tour guide at the Athens Free Walking Tour recommended it to us. And I sure did not get disappointed! What made the visit to the museum so wonderful are the museum guides. I think with the explanations about the technology alone, I might have felt a bit lost, but thanks to their explanations it was great. Also, I was guided through the armory exhibition, for which the same applied: thanks to all the explanations, the exhibits were filled with life and I can't wait to dive deeper into the history of Agamemnon or Alexander the Great. Many thanks for this great experience on my last day in Athens!

Although placed in building with limited space and small rooms, the museum is still interesting place for visit. With small ammount of entrance fee, you will able to see quite a number of ancient Greece inventions, from more simple ones, to more complex invention, like world first computer piece (the Antikythera mechanisem), which is still on certain level incredible for modern science, as at that time it should not exist for another 1.500 years. The museum is present in two levels, with stairs on more spots as only option, so its secrets are unfortunately not accessible for people with disabilities. In general, quite interesting visit, but must see place only for those who otherwise love technology, and for those who wish to find more about ancient Greeks inventions.

This is a great place, probably the thing I liked the most in Athens. Lots of very interesting information and displays about technology—clocks, weapons, gadgets, and more. In addition, there are guides who show you around, I'm pretty sure free and optional, who were very very helpful and nice and make the experience much more informative and fun than a normal museum. One of the best museums I've ever been to.

It is a perfect museum for those who learn in an interactive way and don't like long visits. Staff is amazing and keen to explain what the exhibition is about. You can read all the info on the cards adjacent to the item, but it's somehow more interesting when it's presented by a person. If Maria happens to be there when you visit, ask her to show you around. Our experience would be great anw, but because of her- it was awesome! The Museum of Ancient Greek Technology was really an eye-opener to me. When I was young, I learnt a lot about the great Greek scientists, engineers and mathematicians such as Archimedes and Pythagoras. I really admire their ingenuity and what they achieved more than 2000 years ago. But this museum told me what I knew before is just the tip of an iceberg. You can easily spend a whole day here because they built a lot of workable models, illustrative videos, comprehensive diagrams and interesting games that you can hardly find in other prestigious museums such as the Archaeological Museum and Acropolis Museum. You can also try and touch most of the exhibits there but you cannot do this in those big museums. The staff there are very friendly and helpful, especially Dimitris. He is very knowledgeable and is always ready to explain the technology in detail. He let me understand much more about various ancient Greek technology. When compared to the famous museums, the staff there just watch you for disallowed behaviour but not be there to help you understand the displays. If you are in Athens, especially when you are near Lycabettus Hill, don't miss this wonderful museum!!

A museum dedicated to ancient greek technology. Robots, automatic machines, surgery tools, communication codes, solar clocks, military and naval prototypes, etc.. There's also a temporary exhibition with greek armory from the ages of Agamemnon until the late Byzantine era.

Private museum of ancient technology. Replicas of different innovations, musical instruments and armour. Some tech items and armour rather speculative and based on guesswork. Basic explanatory texts. Recordings of ancient musical instrument replicas. Rather limited in size. No cafeteria, small souvenier desk. Guides giving basic explanations.

This is the smallest museum we've been to in Athens but its our favourite one yet! If you are interested in ancient greek technology, this place is a must-visit! The staff also took the initiative to introduce the different inventions. It was such a delightful, interactive and fun museum experience. Nerds like me will like this place more than the Acropolis museum.

This museum was fantastic. We spent 1-2 hours. There are many guides (free!) who walk you though the displays of the Ancient Greek technologies, and then you can read about them on the walls (very detailed) and watch provided videos or live demonstrations of early security systems, doorbells, magically opening doors, Archimedes screw, etc. There are also Ancient Greek games to play. I purchased the Ostomachion of Archimedes (the first puzzle and tangram) - the hard plastic version, and it went through airport security at 4 different airports in carry-on luggage, with no issues. I’m not sure the same would be true for the gorgeous metal version of the game!

Amazing museum to learn about ancient greek technology. Really interactive where you can touch and try the equipment for yourself. There is a lot to read but do not fret as the staff are more than happy to show and explain the exhibits and there are many videos and diagrams showing how things worked. We also really enjoyed the music exhibit even though it was much smaller.

interesting site about Greek technogy. There are many places where you can try inventions yourself. However, some objects cannot be touched, which confuses children and causes stress for parents. It is best to enclose untouchable objects with a fence or under glass, rather than following children around and telling them what not to touch.

The best museum I have ever visited! If you come to Athens you must come to this museum! The staff is very nice and I like the way they display the objects inside. It is interactive so it’s about learning and having fun.

The museum is not so big, and in summer time it’s quite hot inside. Inside you’ll see many greek inventions, but the girls who are there can present you the story behind each invention, really cool.

Excellent museum! A hidden gem. Well worth the 5€. Their guides demonstrate old Greek technology. Learn where doorbells, alarm clocks, gears and cranes came from. It is fascinating!

A wonderful museum with very friendly people, who will explain you the equipment, if you want. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." A.C. Clarke's 3rd law. This museum is magic.

Small, but very interesting. Book a guided tour, as they give great explanations and show various demonstrations. It's amazing the technology the Greeks had thousands of years ago, and you can recognise how it's been carried forward into modern life. Armoury and music exhibitions are ok additions, but not sure if they are worth the extra price.

The museum has great inventions from ancient Greece, as well as ancient musical instruments. Except for the visual explanations at each exhibit, there are free guides that explain everything in detail. Some of the inventions are also interactive. You leave with a free gift at the end.
