An amazing park for a run, a walk, reading a book, a coffee, anything!!! Legitimately my favourite place in all of Athens!

The park was designed in 1934 and its purpose was to honour the heroes of the Greek revolution of 1821, 21 of whom are depicted in marble busts standing in the park. The initial plan included the construction of a "Pantheon" for the revolutionaries and also a major Christian Temple, dedicated to the Greek Independence.

Beautiful park, safe and clean! You can find people with kids having a picnic, people walking their dogs, events now and then and great for jogging, walking or riding bikes! It also has children play ground and a cinema in the summer as seen in the pics! A favorite place

A very large area park with many paths🚶‍♀️ both paved and rustic. There are many different sections. There is also a cathedral. There is a huge area of booths but I think is only open on the weekend. There are statues and monuments. There is a very large restaurant. And there are music 🎶 events

This park has kind of bad fame but I visited it first time few days ago for an Exhibition "You and AI" organized by Onassis Stegi Cultural Center and I was amazed.I don't think there could be better place for this event. After sunset it was really nice place to walk and relax. Im not sure if I love the place because of the exhibition mostly but still appreciate a really big park in the middle of the concrete city.

We visited to see the interactive art show at the park. Strong showing of digital and video art. It was packed until they kicked everyone out at 10:30.

Although i grew up in Athens, I had more than fifteen years to come in this park. And the reason? It was abandoned, dirty and full of dopers. It was one of the most seamy parks in town. But after my last visit i am very happy because nothing is the same. The park is clean with a lot of plants and trees, there are new pedestrian areas, police cycling or driving inside the park, a lot of people are running without fear and many are sitting on benches and enjoying the sun. Some disadvantages i noticed are: --a lot of dog poop around the park( doesn't somebody knows that in 2019 we pick them up in a plastic bag?) --many dogs free without leash and muzzle --there are lot of fountains without water --there isn't public wc( homeless people around the area relieve themselves in the park). --no parking available( it's better to use the public transport) It's great happiness to see this park alive again. Let's keep it clean!

Maybe it was because of the heavy rains but when I visited Athens, this park was full of garbage, unfinished pavements and destructed clay roads.

This park is for me a hidden Gem in Athen. Nice people, clean, safe. And there is a juicebar in the middle of it. Stay patient! Theyre slow🤣 But the freshly squezed juice you have in the park is yummy as fuuuc

It’s cleaned up nice recently, and has become a lot less sketchy than it used to be. You get some interesting happenings once in a while, like art exhibitions and concerts. Nothing special compared to its European counterparts, unsafe after hours.

This once was a beautiful park in the center but over time it has become more run down and not safe at night to be in as homeless and drug addicts can be there. During the day it makes for a quick walk and view the church found with in it.

Very nice and big park. A little too dark after 7pm in places, but still loads of people around until late evening, so pretty safe. Some upgrading and cleansing needed and some creepy guys hanging around always trying to bother women (happens everywhere here too), but not dangerous. Edit, not even main parts are safe as a solo female just trying to walk your dog. Lots of people around at 9pm main "roads", but still had a guy try to assault me on a dark spot of it, stay safe everyone and always have protection on you in this city! 💔 Be loud so everyone hear you and fight back

One of my favorite parks! It isn’t the cleanest or breath taking, but has a lot of positives to it. I love how it has a lot of species of trees and plants and gives a description on many of them along the path. There are also a lot of cool statues. The people mentioning homeless people I guess just aren’t used to cities… because that’s what any free park will have.

Since this is one of the few green spaces in Athens it's a clear 5*. There is not a lot of competition, so even though I wouldn't say it's a great park there are not that many others that bring you far away from the street to have some peace and quiet!
