Amaze even non-technical people with a guided tour in cabins of diesel, electric and even steam locomotives, and an 80-years old headquarters car. Almost everything you'll see you can fidget with. Make a mysterious photo in a starship-looking triangle corridor)

I would recommend visiting this gorgeous museum in kharkiv. It's really close to kharkiv railway station. There's no entry fee. The works are definitely a must-see and I’m sure it is worth a visit especially for children, who can have fun by learning about the history of trains.

A small, albeit nice and thorough museum about, as the name implies, the history of the railway in this part of the world. The inner part consists of three rooms with lots of curious memorabilia, and outside are several old engines and rail cars. It's only in Ukrainian, so English speakers beware, but altogether charming. The admission was free, the staff were pleasant, and next door are the bus and railway stations.

When I arrived, the museum was already closed, although according to the sign at the entrance, it still had to work 40 minutes. There is an interesting thematic railway cafe nearby.

Free admissions and outdoor full size models We stopped by for a quick tour to see outdoor exhibits. Indoor part features a lot of miniature models of trains and some historical materials from 1900s. If you get a guided tour, you can even have a look inside of some wagons. We found out about it as we were yelled by the tour guide to leave the exhibit. (Ukrainian hospitality )

The exhibition is impressive, especially we liked small trains which moved and of course real trains of Soviet period.

Small but informative museum. Signs are in ukrainian only. We loved the locomotives.
