the way this museum is designed is essentially made to replicate the past 👌 you cross the bridge over the fake 'river nile' that has temples alongside it, as it would have been centuries ago in these kingdoms 🏛️

The museum has artifacts laid out over two floors with some tombs and statues outside covered for rain protection. The museum is quite stuffy - when I went, the fans were not turned on. It’s however a good introduction to the archaeological wonders of Sudan.

Staff can speak English very well. We were there in January, the weather was okay not too hot even in the sun. The main hall of this museum is airconditioned and other buidlings spread out in the area are not but not a problem at all. I've learned a lot about the root of this country and other African nations. Highly recommended, a lot of interesting information and remaining artifacts.

Amazing place to learn about Sudan. One of the underrated countries, living in the shadow of Egypt. They have almost as amazing culture and history as Egypt but little do people know about it. The only issue is with infrastructure and a bit of the airport drama here and there.

Archaeological museum - Sudanese antiquities of the Nile Valley. Big collection of artefacts of pre-history, of the ancient Kushite kingdoms starting from XXX BC, and frescos of the Christian times. One of the "must to see" items in Khartoum. Historically, the Museum was founded during famous Nubian Campaign in early 70-ties, making available collection of found artefacts for public. The Kushite / Nubian collection complements the similar collections of British Museum, Boston Museum, Munich Museum, Louvre, and Cairo's Museum.

This place is a must if you have or plan to visit the pyramids, plus there is a well done exhibition upstairs of Sudan's Christian period. It was 10 SDG to get in and I had the place to myself, be sure to walk to the other buildings to the right of the entrance ( as you walk in) to see more ruins that have been relocated to the museum. Outside in the parking lot there are artists selling oil, watercolour, and coffee paintings...pretty cool and always good to support a local artist.

(Translated by Google) It is considered one of the largest Sudanese museums located on Nile Street, next to the Friendship Hall building, where its main entrance is heading towards the Blue Nile and just before the two Nile met. Preparation was underway to open this building since the sixties and the museum was opened in 1971 AD and contains all periods of Sudanese civilization from the stone ages to the Islamic period through the Nubian and Christian monuments (Original)

Like everything in Khartoum the Museum is totally run down. They have some construction going on. But you can clearly see that the museum is in a quite poor condition anyways. Opening hours on google (like for everything in Sudan) are not correct. Status September 2021: don't go there.

A good place to learn about Sudan. Visitors are allowed to take photos using smartphone, but limited to the ground floor only. For the first floor, no camera allowed. What interesting about the 1st floor is they displayed some historical items and old manuscripts from sudanese Christian's period.

(Translated by Google) I love the National Museum because it is like a time capsule where I travel between different eras to meet civilizations that lived in Sudan and learn about their customs, inventions and way of life. It is a Sudanese historical imprint that smells between the temples of the Pharaohs, the pots of the Kushites, the decorations of the plant and the statues of Meroe.

(Translated by Google) The Sudan National Museum in Khartoum is one of the largest Sudanese museums, and the museum, which is located on Nile Street, was inaugurated in 1971 AD and contains the holdings of the Sudanese civilization periods from the stone ages through the Nubian and Christian antiquities and up to the Islamic period. The museum includes many temples, cemeteries, memorials and statues of different sizes. Exhibitions held by the National Authority for Museums in the countries of the world contributed to introducing Sudanese civilizations and correcting the negative image drawn by the Western media about Sudan, as well as promoting tourism and attracting many tourists who visited Sudan. . Throughout the year, the museum witnesses the influx of visitors from inside and outside the country, as a large number of VIPs from different parts of the world visited and expressed their admiration for it. The museum is considered a destination for recreational trips for students of schools, universities and kindergartens, and we find that many organizations specialized in heritage have expressed their willingness to rehabilitate and promote the museum and its valuable collections, as the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) confirmed its support for the museum and its promotion, and the organization launched in cooperation with the Italian Development Agency and the Authority The General Authority of Antiquities and Museums recently launched a project to promote the Sudanese National Museum as an international cultural center, in the presence and honor of the Italian ambassador in Khartoum and a number of diplomatic missions in the country. The Italian ambassador in Khartoum renewed his country's support for Sudan. He said that Sudan is a diverse country with culture, environment and climate, which resulted in a diverse cultural and heritage reality, adding that despite the diversity, there is a substance that connects the Sudanese in terms of shape and general characteristics, which is what distinguished the Sudanese personality, stressing that the Italian government's support for the museum has no specific ceiling and that it will continue to support this project To reach his goals. Dr. Pavel Crookin, UNESCO official in Sudan, appreciated the cooperation and support of the Italian government for the project of rehabilitation and restoration of the Sudanese heritage, stressing the continuation of UNESCO in its programs aimed at upgrading the Sudanese culture, preserving the heritage and enhancing national capabilities to carry out its tasks in highlighting the rich Sudanese heritage that blends Arab and African and preserving it as a symbol of Sudanese identity. Professor Abdel Qader Abdeen, head of the science and culture sector at UNESCO, said that the rehabilitation project of the Sudan National Museum includes the renewal of the exhibition hall, the inventory of artifacts and antiquities in an electronic system, in addition to the renewal of the museum building and restoration to become the best museum in Africa and truly reflects the ancient Sudanese history and culture. He praised the efforts of the Italian Agency for its great support, praising the role of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums and their cooperation in the implementation of the project, appreciating the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and its implementation of the project, explaining that the coming period will witness development in the culture sector in Sudan and the promotion of antiquities and rare artifacts and tourism and historical areas in Sudan as well as a boom in the field of heritage preservation and antiquities preservation Tourism to build the comprehensive peace process. Laid out logically from pre-historic. There is very little mention of 20th Century which would have been extremely interesting. Many of the exhibits don't have labels so it is hard to know what you are looking at.

The National Museum of Sudan in Khartoum is under renovation and it is closed. Most of its collections are back to storerooms. Only the three temples (Buhen, Senna, and Kumma) saved from the waters of the high dam and rebuilt in the garden are visible. It is really to hope that the works will bring back to Khartoum one of its major attractions. It was so pleasant to visit it and then to go drinking the exquisite lemonade of the Grand Hotel...
