I visited this place on 12-08-21. It's one among the must visit place. Well maintained. And close at 3:30 due to covid regulations and closed on Saturday and Sunday. So if you want to see all caves you should be here at least by 10am. Feels very bad to see sculptures destroyed by Muslims.

Masterpiece. It's hard to believe that this magnificent temple is carved out of single rock without the help of any modern civil engineering techniques available in today's era. One can feel oneself too tiny while observing the elephant carving on back side of temple.

The strongest, largest, and the most ravishing Sanatani Hindu temple I have ever seen. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This takes you back in time. Built in the 7th century, you will be out of words when you roam inside the temple cave complex. Marvellous, fabulous just fabulous. I wish the temples we build today are like these. Real Indian architecture/construction at its best. Ticket price - ₹40. I will wait when this temple will be refurbished carefully, and we can do Abhishek inside. The shiva linga is massive. Never ever seen anything like this before

This place shows how Indian architecture was in Ancient times. The whole temple campus is carved out of a single Rock from mountain. Around 7000 labourers estimated to be involved in this humongous task. This is Cave No 16 out of Total 34. This is the largest among all. One will be really amazed to see the huge size of this temple. Bring kids, students, history enthusiasts, in fact everyone to witness the Caves. It will take time to visit all the Caves separately. Main Caves are 16, 10, 12, jain Caves.

Spectacular rock cut caves and elaborate sculptures of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain faiths are over 10 centuries old. Ellora caves has been beautifully carved which depicts a blend of Jain, Hindu and Buddha mythologies. Ellora is being more visited due to its proximity to the main city of Aurangabad. It is a short distance from the city and the roads are good. One of the must visits here is Cave number 16 which is also known as Kailasa temple. One must definitely take out some time specially to visit this cave. All the carvings have been done so skilfully depicting even the minutest of all details. The rock is known to be around 6000 years old but when it was carved into a temple is still a mystery. According to historians and archeologists it is estimated that approximately 400,000 tons of rock was removed from the site in making of this temple that approximately 400,000 tons of rock was removed from the site in making of this temple. One of the most unimaginable and mysterious facts of Kailash Temple is its top to bottom carving. Even today, it is simply impossible to carve such a perfect construction from top to bottom so elaborately using just chisels and Hammers. We visited this place by own Car, travelled from Mumbai. Good parking space is available.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Main attraction of Ellora caves situated in the middle of park. It is an architectural marvel that took 200 years to build by multiple generations, cutting single stone from top to bottom. Shows the rich vision and craftsmanship of its architects. There is a good spot on hilltop at the right side to view top of the temple.

Man made wonder. Spectacular and amazing work. It is hard to believe that it is man made structure. It is single rock cut temple, somewhat destroyed by Muslim kings, but still it is wonderful experience to visit it. Must visit place at least once

Kailasa temple is part of Ellora caves lani no. 16, it's beautiful Hindu temple of Shiva. It also has cave painting around it, this temple craved from top to bottom. It has Shivleela, vishnu puran, mahabharat, Ramayan painting craved. I strongly recommend first timer to get a official guide as one can't imagine idea behind painting or meaning of them by themselves. Additional tip : official guide fees are Rs 1800 for all 3 Leni and RS 500-600 only for kailasa temple. No need to climb on side of temple as it won't give good view.

A miracle, 16th number cave out of 34 in Ellora, which you still don’t believe if you are standing in front of it. They took 200 years to convert a single piece of a rock into this cave/temple. An exceptionally carved mountain. A place is well surrounded with facilities like toilets, restaurants, parking, medical and transportation. The best thing is you can rent an EV cart to roam around all caves. So no worries about senior citizens. There is no option for stay, but it’s fine because no point to stay over there. You need a whole day to explore the caves Must visit once a life, it is worth going there. A small waterfall is there behind cave, only for monsoon planners. And the best season is also late monsoon and winter.

Tip - Do not get a guide from outside. They will charge you 800-1200 and they are not even allowed to go inside the temple because inside there are government approved guides only. They charge about Rs. 500-800 and will explain you everything in detail. Don’t get fooled by outside local guides. This temple will surely make you proud as an Indian.

UNESCO World Heritage Site, very beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is said to be carved from Upside-Down. They should take a little more care of the Gabhara, i have seen people going around Nandi with footwear on, it should be properly taken care as a Temple. Other monuments should be taken care of as the big statues are breaking apart, archeological team should look upon restoration so further damage doesn't happen. Must visit site.

The Kailash Temple in Ellora, a UNESCO Heritage Site, is a sublime masterpiece that leaves visitors awe-inspired. Carved out of a single massive rock, this architectural marvel seamlessly fuses spirituality with artistic prowess. The intricate detailing on every inch of its colossal structure showcases the skill and dedication of ancient craftsmen. As you stand before the majestic facade, the sheer scale and precision of the carvings depicting Hindu deities, mythological scenes, and celestial beings evoke a sense of reverence. The temple's monolithic design, mimicking Mount Kailash, is a testament to human ingenuity and devotion. The grandeur of its courtyards, intricately carved pillars, and majestic sculptures transport you to a realm where time seems to stand still. The Kailash Temple stands not just as a testament to architectural brilliance but as a living testament to the spiritual and artistic legacy of ancient civilizations, inviting all who visit to marvel at the divine fusion of stone and soul.

Please don't call it Cave No. 16; it's a legendary and oldest temple of Mahadev, lost in the barbaric history of Mughals. It should be restored and open to the public for worshipping.

The Kailasha temple, inspired by Mount Kailasha, is dedicated to Shiva. It is modeled along similar lines to other Hindu temples with a gateway, an assembly hall, a multi-storey main temple surrounded by numerous shrines laid out according to the square principle,an integrated space for circumambulation, a garbha-grihya (sanctum sanctorum) wherein resides the linga-yoni, and a spire-shaped like Mount Kailash – all carved from one rock.Other shrines carved from the same rock are dedicated to Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, the ten avatars of Vishnu, Vedic gods and goddesses including Indra, Agni, Vayu, Surya and Usha, as well as non-Vedic deities like Ganesha, Ardhanarishvara (half Shiva, half Parvati), Harihara (half Shiva, half Vishnu), Annapurna, Durga and others.

Cave no. 16 of Ellora Caves series is well known as the Kailasa temple dedicated to lord shiva. The temple is chiseled from a huge monolithic rock in top down approach. This temple is regarded as one of the finest creations of architecture in the world. You can see stories of Mahabharata and Ramayana on either sides of the temple. Also two stambhas on each side. The whole temple is built like elephants are holding the temple on them from all the sides.

Stunning. Amazed how faith can drive people to create, persevere and accomplish such beauty. Remember this temple is not built, but dug downwards, chiselled, and carved.

1800 years old single stone sculptured temple with pin point accuracy. One of the world's man made wonders. If you go through the details of architecture mind blowing. Tajmahal is just nothing compared to this temple. If government promote and maintain little more this heritage center is unbelievable. Buddhism and Hinduism ancient times God's carved out 1800 years ago . Don't know what tools they used .

100% worth a trip from Mumbai. The road was a little bit harsh but the caves itself repay the road. I would recommend this place to any other history freak as myself. The biggest monolithic structure carved in stone in the whole world won’t disappoint you!!

Verul is near Aurangabad. Verul - Kailasa temple is a UNESCO world heritage site. The most popular monument of all, the world-famous Kailasa Temple is a part of the Brahmanical group of caves (13-29). The Kailasa Temple is in Cave 16, and is one of the most beautiful temples in the world. The Ellora Caves not only bear witness to three great religions (Buddhism, Brahminism and Jainism) but they also illustrate the spirit of tolerance, characteristic of ancient India, which permitted these three religions to establish their sanctuaries and their communities in a single place, which thus served to.

It's the main attraction in the Ellora Caves park. It's a super impressive architecture which took 200 years to make, and they carved it out of a single rock from top to bottom. Lots of different people from different times worked on it, and it shows how talented they were. If you want a great view of the top of the temple, head to the right side of the hill, that's the perfect spot. I suggest going to Ellora in the morning or evening because it gets very hot at noon.
