Chandrapur
city
is
suoounded
on
three
sides
by
two
rivers
namely
Irai
and
Zarpat.
While
Irai
is
west
side,
Zarpat
flows
on
East
and
South
side
of
the
city.
Anchaleshwara
temple
is
located
on
east
side
of
city
on
the
banks
of
Zarpat
river.
The
temple
was
by
built
by
Gond
King
'Khandkya
Ballalshah"
who
was
ruler
of
Chandrapur.
Anecdote
is
that
the
king
was
suffering
from
a
horrible
skin
disease
hence
was
named
as
Khandkya.
The
king
got
cured
from
the
skin
disease
the
holy
water
from
the
small
kund
and
then
built
a
temple
in
which
kund
was
developed
as
abode
of
Shiva
and
named
as
Anchaleshwara.
Its
old
hindu
architecture
and
holy
beautifully
place.
The
tomb
of
the
king
built
by
Hirai,
his
queen
is
just
besides
the
temple
and
worth
to
visit
for
it
s
beautiful
architecture.
As
its
very
near
to
city,
we
can
easily
reach
there
by
hiring
auto
from
Bus
stand/
railway
station
or
your
hotel.
Chandrapur
being
a
small
city
maximum
distance
will
be
around
ten
km
and
auto
charges
may
be
around
Rs100.
