The location is very central in Kiel, right on the main shopping street. Room was clean and tidy, but the decor is somewhat outdated and worn. Staff was polite. Breakfast had a fine selection and tasted good, although some items like yoghurt were not cooled properly. There are nicer hotels in Kiel at the same or lower price, but the location wins it.

My friend made a reservation for a 4 night stay. When we arrived they told us that due to a „water leak“ there where no rooms available for us ( and other people also waiting for a room in the lobby). Every other hotel in Kiel was booked. When we asked why they didn’t call to let us know in advance the poor woman at the reception almost started crying. She was clearly overwhelmed and didn’t know what to do. When she found us a room at another hotel ( it had a lower rate than Astor) she made us pay the the higher amount for our reservation at Astor or loose the room at the other hotel. I never experienced something like this. Fortunately we liked the other hotel and stayed there for the rest of our trip. We will NEVER book at Astor again!

I did visit this hotel two times first i stayed in a normal room but is small, the second time i stayed in suite ,is very nice room big with very nice view. The best of this hotel is the breakfast hall is on the top of the building with very beautiful views also the bar is next hall on top for the fun nights. I have uploaded photos.

Dirty, rundown and unhygienic Arrived on Sunday 12th June with 27 guests. Every single room had a problem from BLOOD on beds and bedding to broken toilet seats, a shower that did not function at all and a sink that had no pipe whatsoever. The whole hotel needs renovation. My room also had bed bugs and we will be writing to the Gesundheitamt. Should a Lawyer for the hotel try to bully me to remove my review, I have several photographs to back up my review and I will not be bullied. Absolutely appalling experience and all my passengers are now in other hotels across Kiel

We arrived at 11pm on a saturday and when we went out for dinner we forgot our only room key inside the room, we only received 1. The receptionist told us he doesn't have a second key and we had to wait until 7am to get into our room. I travel a lot for work and sleep in hotels at least twice a week but that was a first. I have never seen a hotel that doesn't have a spare key for a room and keeps their clients wait for multiple hours at night in the lobby (until 6:44). I had to give it 1 star although I have never given 1 star before. Please be aware of this hotel. You better spend 20€ more per night to be treated like a human being!

Rooms are great if you get one on the upper floors facing the harbor. The place is clean but would benefit from a renovation.

Used to stay at Astor hotel each year, last time was in 2017, and now back in 2023. But must say that unfortunately the standard they used to have, has really gone down. Old furnitures which should have been replaced long time ago. Lack of staff, only two really young girls at the breakfast restaurant (no bacon). The beautiful Astor bar has been closed for 3 years, what a shame. The location is so great, but really a shame that the hotel hasn’t been keep up in regard to furniture quality, staff etc.

Very central located and cheap-priced hotel in downtown Kiel. The rooms are partially very old and not modern. But clean and everything fits for a short stay. Partially a very lovely view over Kiel.

It's a hotel in the centre of Kiel. It's close to shopping and restaurants. I had a room at the top of the hotel and it was a nice view. The room was clean, but the walls could certainly get a renovation. Therefore 4 stars. It was a nice stay for a attractive price. I will be back

Nice hotel in city-center, friendly staff. We had a late arrival and all instructions were vey clear. We didn't try breakfast, because there are so many food-possibilities in the city-center. For instance, there is a Subway ( an American multi-national fast food restaurant franchise) at 5 metres from this hotel! I will come back.

Great hotel but no toilet in reception. You can only book in at 15.00 ,so if you arrive from a boat at 09.30 from Sweden you have a problem

location is good- everything else is terrible. Bar was closed, hotel beds in single room are terribly small and there are very uncomfortable pillows- i could not sleep at all. Can not recommend this hotel

Ok hotel, not more, not less. Central location, very spacious rooms. A bit dated, but clean and over all ok.

Friendly staff, great location, adequate single rooms. However, cleaners start moving furniture each morning for hours which made it impossible to sleep. Simple solution would be to cover the legs of the furniture with felt. No noise plus protects the floor too. A win win situation.

Absolutely filthy room, cracked toilet porcelain seat, black curly hair in bed linen, stained mattress, human stains on toilet... Never going to visit this hotel again. Only positive experience was the breakfast.

For three people there is a huge room. We love it. Breakfast very very good.

We where overbooked at the hotel.. it can happen. However I cannot recommend the service desk, we arrived at 14.30 and asked if we could check-in and they told us we have to wait until 15. I then asked for parking and they recommended the parking in Karstadt for 6€ good deal, so we unloaded the car and I left my wife in the lobby with all suitcases, as I returned 10 minutes later they told us we where overbooked and had to check-in in a different hotel.. why weren't we told this before we unloaded the car and asked the service desk... anyway the fun doesn't end here we where given as "cash card" and told to take this as a gift.. okey I guess with no further instructions I went to get the car thinking that I could leave the car park using this card.. but sadly it did not work so I had to walk all the way back to ask for further instructions.. the silver lining was that we where booked into the Steigenberg Hotel and wow that was something.. I would recommend to start here instead I know the pricediffrences might be high but trust me it's worth it. So no hard feelings to the other Hotel but please try your best to give better instructions next time 🙂
