The decor creates a beautiful locally inspired ambience combined with the lighting and acoustics that’s perfect for an intimate dining experience. The owner was very attentive and truly cared about our experience. The menu offers diverse cuisine for all appetites and the pepper sauce was amazing.

Amazing! Absolutely delicious genuine local cuisine, everything we ordered was pure bliss. We were a huge group, and everybody left absolutely full and satisfied. Waiting was very long though, could be an hour for our group - we had maybe 16 bowls of food, various dishes. Starters came out after 45 minutes. Can recommend: - starter mashed potato balls - Fried anchovies Main: - coconut curry fish - spinach! -

We had the group platter and it was amazing. Come hungry and you still won't finish. Amazing food, great jazz, perfect vibe.

Chill spot to get some delicious food and good drinks. If your in a bigger group highly recommend getting the big platter its full of everything very similar to tapas but the portions are great. They have chill music and usually a band. For me my favorite was the the samosas and the chicken skewer. For the review I would give it a 8.1 on that 🔥 scale for the attentive staff and fast service especially for how big of a group we had. Plus the food did not disappoint. Service: Attentive and not intrusive. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they are always happy to make recommendations. Recommendation: A great place to go for a special occasion or a casual meal with friends. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is charming, and the service is excellent. I was looking forward to trying the complimentary garlic bread. However, I never received an off to give it a go.

Great ambience, loved the theme of the decor, classy and upscale place to eat local food. I had the urwagwa, which is a local wine made from honey and bananas with grilled tilapia and a side of roasted matoke(bananas/plantains)

Very chilled out vibe in the restaurant up in the balcony with the view of Kigali city center part. The food was great. We had grilled fish with eggplant and goat skewers They were all great!!!!. The staff are very professional. The boss lady 😁( I'm guessing the manager) was super friendly and professional. I had ordered the goat skewers but she asked in the kitchen to get me half a portion from the goat skewers and half from the grilled goat (it was grilled in the aluminium foils, so it was more soft)so I could taste both and both of them were amazing!!!. Plus they had live music during the evening!! Overall a pleasant evening spent there. Highly recommended!!

Very nice ambiance, the live music evenings are very special! The terrace has a great view (book ahead to get a table there)! It’s a little expensive but worth it.

So interesting music, best with friends group for leisure times. Juice kiwi highly recommended for ladies. Not making expectations and life will give you nice surprises in front of you!

This place has a great vibe. Beautiful decor and tasty food complimented by smooth afrobeats. I can recommend the garlic steak and the plantains. The honey banana wine has more of an acquired taste, but is worth trying if you have an adventurous palate.

Delicious food, fresh ingredients and flavorful. Cassava leaves with groundnuts, potatoes, Sambaza, and plantains were delicious. The dessert was less successful. Great outdoor seating and friendly service. Best meal I had in Kigali.

I had a good time. the food was really good, just that the plate was a bit small for the portions (i had a mushroom steak with rice and garlic chips). server was also really friendly and knew the products.

Great food. Goat stew was best I had in Kigali. Enjoyed fish, beans, spinach, roasted potatoes and other really liked the plantains and groundnut sauce. Nice upstairs space. Can get hot so avoid sitting in sun.

Delicious local food - ordered Sambaza (Small fried fish from Lake Kivu), Pondu ya Capitaine (Fish steamed in cassava leaves), Rwanda Choma (grilled goat meat) and peas with garlic. All are delicious.

Talk about a vibe! And the food😋😋😋 This is a MUST stop when in Kigali. We went twice because it was sooooo good. The owner is very welcoming and there's a boutique inside. Get the sambaza pictured. Live music at night. The view is🤩🤩🤩. You can make reservations as well.

Had an excellent dinner for 8 here, ending a week long conference at Kigali Convention Center. Wide variety of tasty dishes, lots of vegetable options. Walking distance from KCC.

Repub has completely lost its local flavor, and there are now several restaurants nearby to go to instead! We used to like this place, but it's changed character... Don't even bother coming here if you don't arrive in a fully equipped touristy green 4wd safari vehicle... and don't bother coming here unless you have made a reservation way ahead... Place seems to have become mandatory for gorilla-trekking tourists on their little Kigali tour... Hence, staff will be completely uninterested in helping you, even if you happen to be a regular and residing in Kigali or Kimihurura.

Found this on a top list of restaurants and it didn’t disappoint. First, food and service were top notch (recommend sitting upstairs though). We sat with all locals and staff and manager really made us feel comfortable and helped us find some classics on the menu If you are in Kigali and care to find a place that serves traditional food in a great setting - this is the place and the manager is exceptionally attentive and helpful to all guests PS live music on a Thursday (saxophone and piano) was great

Great atmosphere with live music :) The woman who seems to be the manager is the best ! She took her time to explain to us what the menu options are and gave us great recommendations , went above and beyond to get us a table on the terrace ; and when she noticed my friend didn’t eat much of her food (the food was great btw) , she offered to take it off the bill if for some reason we hadn’t liked it. I would absolutely recommend their “on the coal” menu , and the sides are awesome !!!

Excellent atmosphere and welcoming staff! We (a group of 12 people) loved our meal at Repub Lounge. It was a last-minute booking (we could have almost walked in) and we were well accommodated. The menu is extensive and well explained that we all sampled the local cuisine. We were staying at Mamba so it was an easy walk - definitely recommend!

Good service and food. Nice view if the tree from neighboring house was not blocking. Family sharing meal info wasn't that clear. You have limited options to choose from even though the menu says pick from the items in the menu. Waitress will tell you about the limited options so ask from the start before deciding on what you want. That was a bit annoying. Unlimited refill on the food for family meal sharing. Juices were good. For the price of 16000 RWF each person, we expected to be able to select the food we want in the menu as stated in the menu. Felt like bait and switch.

The exterior is bland and unassuming but the interior! Excellent. It has a homely feel, full of paintings and fancy seats and treasure chests(kind of). The food is awesome, I had Karanga rice and chicken, the fried plantain is very good. You have to arrive there early though as people become too many and the kitchen cannot handle the demand in good time. Overall a good place and nice experience.

Repub Lounge is one of my favourite restaurants in Kigali. They have nice live music, cozy interiors and a balcony with a beautiful view of the city. Their food has been consistently delicious and the staff provide excellent service. I usually order my favourites : Chicken Karanga and beef karanga. They have amazing brochettes too.

Lovely place, the food was delicious! Specially loved their honey, mustard chicken brochette (sublime). The service was quick & great, served with a smile. The African decor was beautiful & the view of Kigali was great, on the first floor. Highly recommend

My favorite local/east african food restaurant! Fancier and pricier than a normal local restaurant but definitely worth the price. The food is just excellent

They had very nice, spicy/soft nyamachoma.. with fried plantains😋😋😋😋 well cooked beans.
