Our experience at Nyamirambo Women's Center was the highlight of our trip to Rwanda. This incredible center teaches women a number of different skills in order to make a living and support themselves. It also offers several tours/experiences and sells beautiful handmade goods. We signed up for the cooking class and a cultural tour of Kigali. The cooking class was an incredible experience. We were able to learn how to make several delicious vegetarian dishes by Aminatta, an incredible chef and woman who was part of the center. After enjoying the meal we took a tour with Jocelyn. She, friendly and knowledgable, and she shared her experience living in Kigali and working at the women's center. This is a must-visit if you are in Kigali. The shop has beautiful products - we bought a hand woven basket - and the tours are informative and very entertaining. Thank you!

Absolutely an amazing experience! Together with my mother we started of the day with the cooking class. After lunch we did the walking tour and finished the day with the weaving class. This took almost the whole day which was great. Everything was well organized and structured. Everyone that works at the center are truly wonderful, helpful and kind people. I would recommend everyone, all ages, to visit Nyamirambo Women's Center. I will come back and do the other courses that they offer! Thank you for the experience!

We went on the walking tour this morning at 10am and it was well worth the winding motto ride! This is a really interesting area of Kigali and great to walk around—the tour guides are really informative and add color to what you see, hear, and smell that you would otherwise be unaware of. I would highly recommend supporting the Women’s Center through this tour, the gift shop, and their other classes.

Attention visitor to Kigali, before going anywhere else for souvenirs, stop by this awesome place. The quality of the finishings is amazing, you'll find that they pay attention to details. The stitching is amazing and the ideas for different items are original. Price wise it is cheaper than some of the tourist traps in town where they sell for almost double some things that are not as well mafñde as the ones you find here, take it from someone who regrets a couple buys now. They take cards and even the paper bags they give for your purchase are nice. Luvd it, will come back if ever again on Rwanda.

Words cant describe how honored I was to meet the wonderful women at NWC, their Kitenge crafts, walking tour, and lunch was a unique experience, enjoyed learning alot about the Umutima community with Erine (who is incredibly knowledgeable and answered every question I had - and taught me some words in Kinyarwanda) - Thank you NWC team for your prompt communication (especially Mary), your kind hospitable spirit and for sharing your culture, I am forever grateful and will someday come back for more! *Heart*

So refreshing compared to the stress and pressure of the larger markets. Great local goods on offer. The seamstresses can make garments in one working day. I bought a beautiful kimono off the rack, a beach bag, hand bag, and luggage tags. There are children's clothes and beautiful soft toys and home furnishings. No pressure to buy anything. Very fair prices. They take card payments, too. A must visit.

We walked from Kigali city center to Nyamirambo and enjoyed the tour through the women‘s center, the neighborhood and enjoyed a delicious, traditional lunch. Just go there and support this great community - they put so much effort and love into this project and do grat stuff. You also could do cooking or weaving classes. We loved it.

We absolutely loved the walking tour, our guide Mary answered all our questions and introduced us to various aspects of life in Rwanda and the mission and history of the women center. We didn‘t feel pressured into buying anything, though we happily supported the center’s noble mission. The tour was worth every penny, we‘ve learned to much in those couple of hours. Thank you so much!

I absolutely love this place, it is an amazing community project, the women who work there are very friendly and also knowledgeable guides, who will answer all your questions. The lunch was awesome and the products they sell are very high quality. If you want to learn about everyday Rwanda and also support a community project I highly recommend it!

Get the lunch. I engage in a lot of experiences around the world but this by far has been the single most meaningful event. The connection that I felt and received was incomparable to anything that I have ever experienced. I felt alive. I was able to connect with what felt like me. Caroline was dope af and Mary was so understanding. Thank yall. Do work.

This is a small shop selling quality hand-made crafts, made on-site. I went on a Saturday so the sewing machines were not manned. They also offer workshops there (pre book). The items are expensive for Rwanda, but the quality is high and the cause worthwhile. Get your Rwanda gift shopping done in one place on one visit. Yes! They accept credit cards

I took a cooking class offered by the center, which was a lot of fun. We first went to the local market to get some vegetables and then we spent three hours cooking away! The best part was eating the food for lunch afterwards. Highly recommended. They also sell very nice clothing and house items. More expensive than what you would find in a market but great quality.

I really wanted to like this place, and it has a big potential but my visit to the centre was such a disappointment. First of all, I booked a walking tour by phone and they didn’t tell me that it would be in French. Luckily, they found someone to do the tour with me in English, but it was such a “muzungu” experience. It almost felt like they were making fun of me being a foreigner by showing me absolutely boring places, like a car repair shop and a shop that sells milk. Compared to community-based tours I did in Tanzania and Kenya, this was underwhelming. They didn’t provide any information about the neighbourhood, except that it’s Muslim. As for their women empowerment mission, only 20% of women, who complete their courses, find employment opportunities. Women in a workshop were painting each other’s nails, while the instructor was doing something on her phone. That’s quite sad, really. EDIT: after I left the review, the owner called me and yelled at me for leaving an honest review. Unbelievable .

A women’s cooperative run by women and by women . It stores all hand made good . The prices are a bit on the higher end but the love, intention and the quality makes it worth it . Each item is handmade /hand sewn/ hand embroidered and you can see the ladies at work in the room adjoining .

The cause that this center was established was a very good one, to empower the uneducated women and the poor family in the neighborhood with the skill development and generating income with this to support the family. We did the cooking local food class and that was fun! A time spent well!!!

We went to the women center to have the walking tour and the weaving experience. The tour was lovely done by our guide and we learned a lot about the area and people. After that the weaving started and we all did some earrings with the help of the guide and a women who is doing there handcraft items. The items to buy change by availability and the quality of the products are very good.

Some cute bags. Zero customer service. I went and wanted some clothes made, shirt and some dresses. No one even talked to me, asked to help or anything. I bought one backpack and left. I didn’t return.

An incredible organisation! I heard about them in a YT video and immediately went to check their website and booked the walking tour. Its such an educational experience listening to these strong women and their stories, and walk around such a cosy neighbourhood. The walking tour included a homecooked lunch at a local house, amazing!

This is a nice place to buy traditional clothes made in Rwanda. It is not far from the University of Rwanda, nyarugenge campus. Near this center, there is a car free zone where you can get good coffee, green tea and fast food.

We did the Nyamirambo Women's Center's cooking class and spent a morning making delicious food with Aminatha. Every single one of the dishes were very tasty, and thanks for the great instruction from our chef, we will be able to recreate them in the future. Kevin, our guide, was wonderful. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone that visits Kigali.

Beautiful stuff. Some of the nicest things we have seen in Rwanda. Really worth a visit the women who work there are very talented so if you are looking for something that is well made it is definitely worth a visit. We ended up buying all our presents from there
