I initially booked a single room at the Boutique Hotel and later upgraded to the Retreat when my wife and daughter arrived. From the pickup at the airport to check out at the end of our trip- everyone at Heaven was amazing and helpful. Alvin, Norbert, the ladies at reception and all the kitchen staff were helpful and went above and beyond their duties. As my daughter is 6 months, the Fusion restaurant staff were kind enough to boil specially requested food items and even took care of washing our blender and baby cutlery. The rooms were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The private balcony and outdoor area provided amble space for peace and quiet and did not at all give the impression that were in the middle of down. Overall, we gave Retreat a 10 out of 10.

I LOVED my trip to Rwanda this hotel was the icing on the cake! Amazing service and better rooms. Had a great time the hotel was very clean i don't think i could find a piece of dust on the floor there!

Beautiful place! I loved the massage and the food was really good. i had a good experience. Well it’s a bit expensive but i would say it’s worth it for a self care day.

Unbelievable service for a 5 star rating. This is my first 2 stars for hotels in my reviews. [summary] Pros : 1. Good facilities / 2. Delicious food / 3. Swimming pool and salt water cons : 1. The notice is constantly changing and any damage is entirely at the customer's expense. (Amount, restaurant information, menu) / 2. Lack of facility management (the wooden decks next to the private swimming pool are separated and nails are out) / 3. Insufficient check-in preparation (coffee marks on the coffee cup, hair, bedding, welcome cookie setting not finished) , the swimming pool was not ready) / 4. To finish the check-in preparations(cleaned and set it up) Staffs entered the guest room without permission during when we out for dinner. / 5. Lack of parking space (8 seats) Even if you park on the road outside, there is no person to move your luggage. / 6. Only one masseuse. It is difficult to make a reservation even with full board accommodation. / 7. There is not enough communication between employees, so you have to say the same thing multiple times. (Amount, menu, about the room) The facility is 5 stars, but the facility management and cleanliness are 2 stars, and the service is close to 1 star. I don't know how this place is a 5 star hotel. I've been to many countries and have been to many Hotels, but this is the first time I've been to a place like this. In mid-December, We went to the full board for 2 Pool Villas and heard the price and made a reservation. It was the first vacation our team had, and we wanted to rest in a good place. Arrived at 2:30 and there was no parking space (there were only 8 parking spaces on the site), so I parked in front of the Heaven restaurant 50 meters below. Although it is 5 star, neither the bellboy nor other helpers were on standby. I personally took my suitcase and kids up and checked in. When I checked in around 2:50 and went to the dorm, the cleaning was not finished yet. When they hurried out and checked the condition the first time, the two rooms booked under the same conditions were different. One room had a pool cover, and the other room had a pool cover stuck in the corner and bugs and leaves floating in the pool. One room had a sofa bed with bedding and the other room had a sofa bed. When I picked up the cup to use the coffee, one of the two cups left a coffee mark. Long, non-family hair in the bathtub fell on the sink and bathtub. Still, it was a vacation and I didn't want to complain, so I cleaned it myself and didn't change the room. The private swimming pool that we cleaned and used was good for our family to play together. The wooden decks right next to the pool were wet and warped, and the nail was little rising. There were things to be careful about when playing with babies, and I didn't send baby there. I went into the dorm to pick up my luggage during dinner, but there was a person in the bathroom. I was shocked. It was the person who came to finish the welcome snack, mosquito net setting, and cleaning. It literally led us to a room that wasn't ready for check-in. Whether the room have valuables or not, they opened the room with the master key while our team ate, and even prepared for check-in without asking us for permission to enter the room. In the process, we didn't say that You were not ready to check-in, and You did not ask the reception to enter the customer's room without asking here. Cause, It's been a good day. When I checked out, They told us to pay an additional $100 when I was about to pay the rest of the amount excluding the deposit. The conversation had already ended, and when they told me that the retreat had delivered the wrong information, I was only able to pay the reserved amount. It's a place I won't come back to again, and I don't know how the words will change a lot. By our standards, we paid a lot of money to make a reservation, but this place doesn't seem to think so. I never wanted to be treated like royalty, I just wanted to be normal. But they usually didn't. But they are 5 star rating hotel. it's hard to believe

I hosted a bridal spa day with 12 guests including lunch and spa services. I worked with Ruth for weeks leading up to the date and she was fantastic leading up to the event and the day of went off very smoothly. The food was delicious and accommodated our food restrictions, and the staff was attentive, kind and wonderful to the group. The massage and mani/pedi's were also very well done. Overall we had a great experience and want to extend our gratitude to Ruth and the team.

The Retreat is exactly as the name says - a total retreat! We stayed for only one night but it was perfect! Room was super clean and lots of really special touches, like cookies upon arrival! The outdoor shower was exceptional, the staff were super friendly, well equipped gym, beautiful pool and delicious food! Thanks!!

We stayed here with 2 of our colleagues for business but also wanted to be somewhere we could enjoy Rwanda when not working. We were blown away with Rwanda and maybe part of this was the wonderful way we were so well looked after by everyone at The Retreat, a little part of 'Heaven' in Africa! The owners humanitarians Josh and Alissa Ruxin have created an amazing hotel, spa, gym and world class restaurant resort with their well trained, ever smiling, friendly, professional and attentive team. The individual rooms and villas are well thought out, with everything provided one could need! They are immaculately clean with the hotels own brand of organic, wonderfully smelling products and a never ending supply of the hotels freshly filtered water. We stayed in one of the villas and were lucky to have our own small pool and outside showers to relax in after a hard day of meetings. (Josh Ruxins book available to buy in the hotel is well worth a read). Clemence, the amazingly kind hotels experience booking manager arranged a trip for me to see the incredible gorillas in their natural habitat. When she learnt I didnt have my walking boots or a coat with me she rushed home and brought me her own! Never have I experienced such thoughtfulness! Clemence always went above and beyond our expectations and was so helpful in arranging many things to make our stay so varied and successful! Gorilla experience - My hotel driver for the journey was Nathan and not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, not only about Rwanda and it's beautifully landscaped hills and agriculture but also it's history. He presented an honest and unbiased view and not just about the genocide but before and after. He was great company, intelligent, engaging and amusing and looked after my every need. Also he was a great driver, a good skill on the busy Rwandan roads :) the whole experience was unforgettable! Dinner and cocktails were a wonderful experience and it was great after a busy day of meetings to enjoy refreshing, original cocktails prepared by the attentive and friendly staff. Gatare, Divin and the rest of the professional and ever smiling team served us great food, well presented and delicious and made every evening we dined a wonderful personal, dining experience. The hotels small spa is next to the well equiped gym and we enjoyed wonderful massages with the best masseur in Rwanda!! The beautiful Janet. When the hotel found out that it was 'mens day' a celebration of men in our country's day they arranged a traditional dance and song as a surprise at breakfast for the 2 men in our party! At least 10 people joined in including Frank, the groundsman who was an amazing dancer. Don't think either of the 2 men will ever experience another celebration like this one! All of our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 'Heaven Retreat' and all felt when we left that we had had a life changing experience which had captured our hearts and we can't wait to return! One of the best facilities to stay at in Kilgali. Excellent service by staff, very clean and comfortable rooms. Very quiet.

Nice place. Good ambience. But the service is below par. Very slow service even on a rather slow Thursday night.

Luckily for us, we had an agent who knew. Knew this was "the place" to stay in Kigali, with it's serene surroundings, luxurious comfort, and excellent dining. Knew this was just what we needed after a long flight, and after a long gorilla trek. Knew that a solid night's sleep and a bountiful breakfast buffet would bolster us for the next part of our African adventure. The story, the service, the mixologist - All superb. The trampoline, the neighborhood (hello Mr President), the local ingredients - all part of the charm. The birds singing, the jacarandas, the beautiful artwork - icing This is one of the first hotels I've been to that I didn't want to leave. Afflicted with travel ADD, I almost always want to move on to the next thing, but not with Zuri. Zuri is a unique combination of natural and cultivated beauty, local and european influence, relaxation and activity. The spaciousness of the resort lends to a very private feel, and the dining is absolutely superb.

I'm writing this review specifically for their spa. I had one of the best 4 handed deep tissue massages with Teddy and Christine. They were amazing. I highly recommended them!

LOVELY BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN KIGALI! Review of The Retreat Pending review We recently stayed at The Retreat for 2 nights before and after going to see the Gorillas in Rwanda. We were greeted by many staff members welcoming us with singing and dancing. Frank the Front Office Manager was so kind to upgrade us to a Pool Villa for a very special occasion we were celebrating. The pool villa is very spacious with a huge bathroom and living area. The grounds of the hotel have lush landscaping. The atmosphere was lovely to eat outside at night by candle light near the swimming pool. They also have a great spa and my husband had a fabulous massage there. There were a few standouts of the staff while we were there. Kenneth, the porter was so caring with the best attitude. He is truly a very special person. Also Happiness our waitress in the Fusion Restaurant. She was kind and provided us with great service. Thank you also to Reuben (F & B Director), Diane (waitress), and Nina (guest relations). On our last day- twelve of the staff came to our Villa and presented to us a delicious cake and sang to us. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and very nice. Kiglai is a beautiful city with many things to see. Be sure to go to visit the Genocide Museum and the Nyamirambo Women’s Center- which was launched at the end of 2007 by 18 Rwandese women living in Nyamirambo, Kigali. Together they created a project which aimed to address gender-based violence, gender inequality and discrimination. Today, NWC’s mission is to provide education and vocational training to women who do not have the means to pay for such training on their own, so that they can gain better opportunities for employment. You will see all the women sewing the beautiful handmade items including women’s accessories, children’s clothing and home décor products. All are very reasonable priced and well made.

The service is very good. There was a front desk person named Kennedy who was very helpful and showed me around. The food is very good and the fish was fresh and tasty.

There are 2 sides of the establishment. Be sure to know which side you are being accommodated in. But generally a pleasant experience.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with a wonderful story. Read up "A thousand hills to heaven" - I'd got it finished within 4 hours of arriving.

I had the privilege of staying here in April of 2023 and I felt like royalty (recently King Charles and Camilla stayed there) and boy I felt like I received the same treatment! Just a beautifully designed place with a staff that genuinely seems happy to see you and to help out however necessary. I enjoyed a lovely massage and breakfast from Fusion. Everything was so clean and top-tier. The shampoo and conditioner provided did wonders for my hair. The hot tub is one of the few in Rwanda and was an absolute blessing. I felt safe and cared for as I traveled solo. 11/10! Thank you so much to the lovely staff and owners!

This is the place to stay in Kigali. Clean, relaxing and professional. The staff is happy and attentive. The food delicious. Beautiful pool areas. A real gem. Emma was a super cool host!

The Retrat is an amazing boutique hotel in Kigali. Very beautiful environment and immerse in the nature. Unfortunately I was not able to stay at the hotel, just had a dinner with a group of people. The service was amazing, the food,as we had a buffet was not bad however not fantastic. Looking forward to spend more time in this beautiful property next time I visit Kigali.

What an awesome first time stay, from our arrival to check out the service was absolutely splendid the villa was exceptional the most comfortable setting I experienced for a long while, food splendidly delightful .

Everything that I needed was in my room, I loved the fact that I got a mini sitting room space outside of my room to eat or to just chill there! It is also enclosed.

As our flight was canceled, we got to spend a wonderful day at the Retreat. The employees were extremely friendly and went out of their way to spontaneously arrange a villa at 3am in the morning, where we could stay for the whole day until the next flight. There was even a massage included in the room rate. Teddy, the massage therapist is a trained physiotherapist and gave us the best massage ever! She hit all the right spots perfectly and had a great flow. Thank you so much!

The Retreat provided a homely warmth from the personnel to the whole outlook and ambience. I observed the enthusiasm of each staff and the genuine interest in catering to my needs. Tastefully appointed spaces, beautiful landscaping, delicious food and drink options, warm and attentive staff, a fabulous spa, impeccably clean, peaceful. I cannot say enough about our stay at Heaven Boutique Hotel, The Retreat and enjoyment of Fusion bar and restaurant, Heaven restaurant and the Villa wine bar. This was my sixth stay at the lovely Heaven and I look forward to my next.

Wow! Amazing stay at Retreat. I was here for two nights before heading out touring the country. I wished that I'd booked the same place for my last night in Kigali at the end of my trip. I was upgraded to a pool villa and it was simply awesome. The service and staff were wonderful, friendly and so helpful. Special shout out to Emma with guest services who helped me out immensely with arranging for my delayed luggage to be picked up from the airport.

Overall beautiful setup and very good food but the service is lacking badly. We had several miscommunications with the staff and mistreatment over the last three visits, very unfortunate. I think we won't come back until we hear that service has improved.

They really fulfilled the promise in their name — The Retreat. My family and I left very satisfied of the service, calmness, and hospitality we received from everyone there. Keep up the good work!

Beautiful and serene hotel. Stayed in the villas with the pool and had the best and most comfortable experience. The breakfast and food at fusion restaurant are world class (it’s the only place where we had great food in Kigali). The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended

My visit wouldn’t be this amazing without Clemence who is in charge of the guestrelations…… called her late at night and I was a looking for a best place to celebrate my friend’s birthday and with no hesitation she happily said come at heaven! The breakfast & brunch was delicious with a variety of different items. The staff is really helpful and friendly, especially Joy reservation Agent! The grounds are beautiful. The room was comfortable and the view is incredible. I can not wait to come back! I highly recommend

Beautiful Serene Comfortable Hotel and with Great staff... Alvin, Clemence, etc💯🎉👏👏👏💖👌 I totally loved my accommodation with its outdoor shower💯💕, spacious room dimensions and the indoor shower was simply the best with excellent pressure and hot water. The food was delectable and I wanted more😊.

This is not a 5 star hotel! Actually its quite far from it. Should be a decent 4 star or a great 3 star hotel unfortunately it is now a bad 5 star hotel. Most reviews here are misleading.

Everything was almost perfect, but it was a bad experience because of some staff's misinformation. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was good.

Really enjoyed our stay. All the staff were eager to help and very happy. The energy of the campus and accommodations made it very easy to relax. ask for Jeanette and get the best massage ever! You can tell the owners take care of their employees and care about their investment. It operates very much like a small family owned business in the best way.
