We had the most amazing, picturesque, innovative and tasteful dinner in this restaurant, owned by a young, charming and very successful chef. The atmosphere is amazing, service excellent and amazing African flavours from local ingredients. It is a must in Kigali and really made an impact on our journey across Rwanda

Amazing! Food. 11 course degustation. Entrees, mains, and deserts were all fantastic. Local ingredients. Beautifully plated. Fusion taste. We loved the food. Drinks. We had the wine pairing. The wines were ok. I don't think there was a sommelier. We would have been interested in a non-alcoholic drink pairing with local fruits or local drinks. Service. A large team. Led by Chef Malongo. Malongo and his team take turns to explain the ingredients and the dish. Some staff should be more confident and encouraged to engage with diners. The team overall are great. Atmosphere. The location is brilliant. Second floor, on top of a hill, overlooking the city lights. Open air seating with large open windows. Cool breeze. 6 tables for the whole floor. Large restaurant. Feels intimate yet spacious. When you walk-in, you can read about the aspiration of the chef. Casual dress, but fine dining. Journey. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with warm welcome. Malongo himself will greet you with most meals. Flavours of local and African cuisine. Through to dessert, everything was World Class Michelin Star Chef Hat quality. Price. USD$300 for 2 degustations with wine pairing. This is excellent value given the quality of the food and Malongo taking the time for each of his guests. Please give a descent tip, the team deserve something for this special moment. Where to sit? We sat by the window near the reception. It was great to people watch. Locals in Kigali love to walk around town. It's a hilly city but the roads are wide, with great walk paths everywhere, very green, and night lights along the roads. People watching at its finest. We highly recommend Meza Malongo if you are in Kigali. Actually, we recommend if you are in Africa that you make a special trip to dine here. I had an incredible dining experience at Meza Malonga. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted and presented beautifully. I loved getting to try different spices and ingredients from across the African continent, like sorghum and cassava. The atmosphere is wonderful, with a gorgeous view of the city. The staff is so kind and very attentive. They were also incredible with working with dietary restrictions, as I don’t eat meat. They provided meat-free substitutions expertly. It was 10 courses, 18 different dishes, and all were spectacular, especially the final dessert. You can tell how much thought, care, and love is put into every dish. It was a luxury experience. The timing between the dishes was also perfect. Each person at my table agreed that it was well worth it. I’m also inspired by how generous and kind the chef is. He is very committed to supporting young chefs in Africa and sharing his knowledge. I am so grateful and glad that I had the opportunity to dine here!

No doubt one of the ABSOLUTE BEST cuisine the continent has to offer. Everything is inspired and inspiring. From the energy and authenticity of the staff to world class food and drinks to go. Chef Malonga has really introduced one of life’s finest experiences in the head of Africa. HIGHLY recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes on the tasting menu, however I think each of them could have been a slightly bit bigger and served with less time in between to leave feeling completely satisfied. It was nice to have an explanation of each of the dishes from the owner, however he was tending to multiple other diners while also managing staff, we did have one dish that was not explained at all. So, as there is no menu, we didn’t know what we were eating. It would be good if some of the other staff members could provide the explanation too, or if each table was assigned a single server to make sure this didn’t happen. I would still recommend going for the creativity and quality of the dishes.

This was one of the best meals that I've ever eaten, anywhere in the world. The use of ingredients from around Africa made it not only sumptuous, but also enlightening into the possibilities of cuisine within the African continent. The service was spectacular, the design of the restaurant was beautiful and the overall experience was a highlight of the trip.

We came here for dinner to celebrate New Year’s Eve and were not disappointed. The food is amazing showcasing the best in ingredients from Rwanda and from the rest of Africa. Each dish was beautifully presented, full of wonderful and complementary flavours. The staff were a delight and the head chef added a personal touch by explaining a number of the dishes. I would recommend it to any foodies passing through Kigali.

A fantastic fine dining experience, with a chef (plus team) that is able to make a Afro-fusion dining experience on a international level. Duck confit with plantain ravioli was top-notch. Only two things: I wasn’t expecting a full meal, but a little more fleshed out mains would be nice, and perhaps some dessert wine for the last dishes. Full recommendation for anyone in Kigali.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and pleasant to be in. The food is exceptional with a lovely chef who is by no means haughty or arrogant but down to earth and with an amazing array of culinary skills. The food was so, so good. From perfect Umami to poignant notes that just hit the spots: we can highly recommend this.

An absolute must-try restaurant if you are passing through Kigali. The sober decor, the good customer service and the warmth of the chef made us have a good time. African products, sometimes revisited, are in the spotlight. It was a real treat!

Stunning dinner! Art on the plate and music to my mouth. This restaurant would be outstanding in any city of the world. Finding it in Kigali was an unexpected and wonderful surprise. My husband had to tell me I was mmmmming too loud.

A breathtaking experience! Beautifully curated menu, expertly prepared and served. Chef Malonga has perfected Afro-fusion. I especially loved how personal the experience was. With each course, Chef stopped by our table to explain where the ingredients came from. Absolutely worth it. I look forward to repeating the experience again- but expect that it will be different since the menu changes every month!
