I
arrived
here
at
1000
in
the
morning.
There
was
no
one
to
greet
me
at
the
front.
I
waited
2
to
3
minutes
and
then
walked
in.
I
made
my
way
to
the
register
where
4
employees
were;
1
behind
the
register,
2
behind
the
counter,
and
1
at
the
register
leaning
on
the
counter.
I
stood
and
waited
to
be
addressed
and
Bonheur
(
the
lady
behind
the
register)
says
“WHAT”
with
a
nasty
voice.
I
was
shocked.
I
asked
for
a
table
for
1
and
there
was
no
response.
She
and
the
other
employees
just
stared
at
me.
I
then
asked
if
I
could
sit
anywhere
and
she
said
yes
with
the
same
bad
attitude
and
tone
of
voice.
As
I
sat
and
waited
for
my
food,
a
male
employee
named
Yassin
wearing
the
Camellia
uniform
sat
two
tables
away
from
me
in
the
main
dining
room.(
I
was
sitting
at
the
table
with
the
only
live
fish
in
the
tank).
He
faced
me
for
some
time
and
stared
at
me
for
a
while
with
his
leg
over
the
arm
of
the
chair
and
playing
loud
music
on
his
phone.
I
was
the
only
customer
in
the
main
dining
room.
When
my
food
arrived,
delivered
by
my
waitress,
I
saw
him
staring
at
me
with
his
legs
wide
open,
with
one
leg
over
the
arm
of
the
dining
chair.
I
asked
him
‘do
you
work
here
-
are
you
working?’
He
said
“no”
and
went
back
to
playing
his
loud
music.
I
thought
to
myself
that
perhaps
it
was
a
language
barrier.
I
realized
I
was
very
uncomfortable
with
the
attitudes
from
the
employees
at
Camellia
cafe
and
decided
to
pay
for
my
food
and
leave.
I
went
back
to
the
register
with
my
credit
card
in
hand.
The
woman,
Bonheur,
never
addressed
me
and
so
I
stood
there
and
waited
quietly.
The
male
employee,
Yassin,
came
up
to
the
register.
Still,
no
one
spoke
to
me
so
I
stayed
quiet
with
my
card
in
hand.
I
used
my
translator
on
my
phone
to
ask
for
a
manager
in
Swahili-
I
played
the
translator
on
the
speaker
on
my
phone
to
both
of
them
at
the
register.
(To
my
surprise)
Bonheur
spoke
English-
she
had
no
trouble
articulating
that
the
manager
is
not
around.
I
asked
for
the
name
of
the
manager.
She
told
me
and
added
that
there
are
2
managers
(all
in
English
with
no
problem.)
I
asked
her
to
spell
the
manager’s
name
‘Salim
Omar’
that
wasn’t
there
to
manage
the
restaurant
while
they
were
serving
customers
on
this
Tuesday
morning.
I
also
asked
her
to
spell
her
name
as
well
as
the
male
employee,
I
asked
him
to
spell
his
name.
Of
all
the
restaurants
I
visited
in
Kigali,
this
place
had
0/10
service.
I
was
disturbed
with
Yassin’s
choice
to
sit
at
a
dinner
table,
facing
me,
talking
loudly,
playing
music
on
his
phone,
and
staring
at
me
while
I
waited
for
my
food.
Even
worse
was
arriving
to
the
restaurant
and
never
being
greeted;
no
one
said
hello,
no
one
showed
me
to
a
table,
and
no
one
addressed
me
while
I
waited
to
pay.
I
did
not
finish
my
food
and
just
left
because
I
was
very
uncomfortable.
Many
people
in
Kigali
recommended
this
place
and
I
was
excited
to
eat
there
and
have
a
wonderful
and
relaxed
experience.
It
was
a
complete
waste
of
taxi
ride
and
money
to
eat
here.
I
was
most
certainly
not
welcomed
here.
I
do
not
recommend
other
tourists
to
eat
here.
