Planet Chill Ice-Skating Rink

Tourist attraction Ice skating rink

😠 Hands down worst ice skating experience ever. The ice is super lumpy, chipped and covered in debris and dirt. Skates are old and not cared for. Helmets too big to be worn by my 10yo daughter. The rink is approximately half the size of a tennis court. But the worst is customer experience. After 30... People often mention rink, skate, kids, small, daughter, skates, good,

Our family visited Planet Chill during our trip to Surfers Paradise and had a FUNTASTIC time! We arrived an hour before they were due to open but they very kindly opened for us and we had the whole rink to ourselves! It is a small ice rink but was perfect to have lots of fun with lights and music and the ice hockey gear coming out once everyone had their balance. A big thank you to the incredibly helpful and friendly staff, I highly recommend to all and can't wait to come back again :)

Hands down worst ice skating experience ever. The ice is super lumpy, chipped and covered in debris and dirt. Skates are old and not cared for. Helmets too big to be worn by my 10yo daughter. The rink is approximately half the size of a tennis court. But the worst is customer experience. After 30 seconds on the ice, my daughter said it was terrible and unskatable (She skates often so knows what it is supposed to be like). We told the staff that the ice was terrible but we were met with "sorry there is a no refund policy" and "the ice is good, I was just out there" (my photos of the ice say otherwise!)... Management were also argumentative but eventually agreed to give a refund. However, in order for a refund to occur we would need to complete a form to be submitted to the finance department. And having paid with ApplePay I did not have my card details to complete the form and was told I could not use another card which I had handy. Although given the opportunity to send my card details in by email, the time and energy to do this is not worth the $20 refund. However I hope this review helps those considering going here. Save your money. Don't bother.

Did Learn to skate plus 2 other sessions during our stay. Kady was amazing and really made our experience extra special. The kids loved her and she encouraged them to skate. Will be back.

Small rink which is perfect for young kids and those learning to skate. Staff are lovely. Highly recommend for things to do on the Gold Coast.

Honestly really unhappy, booked for today’s 3pm sessions for 3 of us, arrived and was shocked at how small the rink was. Couldn’t believe the limit is 50 for this place. My partner and I tried to skate for 5 minutes and was appalled at how bad the ice was, we are usually really good skaters, same with his daughter and we could barely stand. His daughter and her friend stayed on an extra 10 minutes before wanting off due to crowding and not being able to skate either (this is a child who can skate backwards) Asked what was wrong with the ice and the attendant had no clue, so we left after 15 minutes because of it and how packed it was. Really really dissatisfied, and upset on this outcome. $60 for 5-15 mins of skating for 3 people. Saw the email stating absolutely no refunds so won’t even bother. Just feel like it needs to be amplified how truely small this place is, hard to skate and WAY to crowded. Couldn’t even imagine there being the limit of 50 there.

Very disappointed, the ice skates are so blunt so it was very difficult to skate on the extremely slippery ice which made it dangerous, every one was just falling over. My son was in tears and had to get off in 5 minutes. We asked for a refund and were refused. I made the best of it so as to not spoil our day for my daughter who struggled on but I would not recommend wasting your money.

It definitely is probably better for much younger kids between 5-9 maybe, also the skates are super blunt so hard to move on them. The helmets really annoyed our ASD children. Bit expensive for what it is.

Don’t waste your time. Tiny ice rink in a dated old conference-type room in a trashy hotel. Has definitely seen better days. Skates old with broken straps. Very crowded, no room to skate. Stayed 15 minutes and left.

The rink is very small and the ice was melting which made the surface wet and very slippery. The shoes for my son were broken. No games were played during the session. Overall, very poor experience.

Rink too small for 60 skaters max. Session opening had two staff then reduced to 1. Especially since it is a children's resort rink. Positive's are good staff; although one on the ice at all times is required due to such small size and the only rink in Gold coast with child skating aids that I have been to. Tween daughter liked the computer dj system.

Very small ice skating rink, maybe good for kids but once you get a few bigger people on there i as well as a few kids, it gets very dangerous and not fun. Pay a bit more and go to a bigger skating rink

nice place, but the ice was a bit melted and the skates were quite bad. Came with a group of 4 and we all found it extremely hard. Normally we find it a lot easier. As soon as I stepped on the ice my feet started to ache. I gave this a 3 but it wasn’t the best place in my opinion.

Definitely should have read the reviews beforehand. I’ve given a 3 because my 4yr old honestly still had a good time. Probably because he’s never ice skates before so had nothing better to compare it to. I can skate. On this rink, I could not skate without a penguin as every step your foot slides straight out from under you. Ridiculously slippery, but given how many reviews have said the same thing, it’s obviously not a priority for remedy. Captive customer base with the resort probably keeps it ticking over. Couple of laps with a penguin support added a star, the lovely attendant who was super helpful was worth another star and my son having a bit of fun was the third star. If I wasn’t staying at the hotel I absolutely would not waste the money.

Kayla and Kady really made our kids day. They were both super helpful & friendly - teaching our kids to skate until they felt confident on their own. Amazing customer service. Small rink but good to come to if you have younger kids because they have penguins to help & play games.
