Tourist attraction Museum

👍👍 This is one of those places you have to see at least once in your life. A very clean, well run museum. The big hole is something you have to see to believe and the exhibits are impressive and very informative. My kids weren't sure what to expect but we're really glad we made the stop. People often mention tour, history, experience, guide, great, museum, Kimberley, nice, amazing, hole,

What a wonderful outing for the kids. We learnt lots about diamond and had a wonderful experience walking around the village. The tram ride was also fun and I really enjoyable experience.

This is a must visit place to explore the history of the diamond rush and the diamond mining industry in Kimberly. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. The historic village was in great condition with interesting displays.

The museum offers a spectacular tour of the underground mining shafts, along with a score/sound that resembles what was experienced back when it was operational. There’s a wall of history, showing how diamonds are formed till to the point where they are cut and shaped for various usages. There’s replica’s of some of the world’s most important diamonds, a history of how the mine was developed along with miniatures of the mine itself on display. There’s a video session as well, playing a reenactment of the diamond rush from ages ago. It’s truly a great place to learn the history of the diamond rush.

We luckily arrived just in time for the next guided tour, which I highly recommend. David, the guide, is truly great at his job and enjoys it a great deal, which makes it both educational and fun.

Historically Iconic Full of history and really beautifully maintained. This is the big Kimberley Diamond Mine. It’s beautiful. You can walk into the installation of how the mine was functioning.

Awesome place.. Must visit with family to explore the under ground world of the diamonds. Take tram. Ride and have a beer in occidental bar.. One of oldest of Africa. Take the tour with the guide and you will be lost if history for next 3 hours... You won't feel. Like leaving this place. Plz don't visit in Sundays.. Rest all days r good to go and everything is operational. N working.

A nice place where is quite a lot of things to do. The short movie was nice and explained to me more about the mining history in the area of Kimberley. There are also some of the exhibitions inside about the diamonds and with the guide is everything easy to get and understand 🚀

Absolutely amazing experience! Experienced the wine tasting and dinner under the stars. The place is beautiful and the people will go out of their way to accommodate you. I have not experienced such great hospitality in a while. Definitely a place to visit if you are in the area.

It has to be one of my most favorite experiences at a Private Game Reserve. The staff were so hospitable, friendly and full of life. The game drive was amazing, did the sundowner and man would I suggest it for anyone that asks. The lodge is stunning and gives you instant relaxation. The food was absolutely delicious. If I could give it more stars I would.

It's a very nice place to visit for a family outting especially learning about the history of the development of mining in the area. It's right in the middle of town and has good parking areas with shades and stores to buy food and drinks and some nice jewellery.

(Translated by Google) Since we arrived, all the staff made us feel welcome. It was an amazing day we spent there. The service was unbeatable, the atmosphere was very cozy and the food was top notch. The breakfast with porridge was of course a very unexpected surprise. We had such a great time there. You can be proud of everything you do there. Will definitely see you again soon. Ons het so so so lekker daar gekuier. Julle kan trots wees op als wat jul daar doen. Sien definitief binnekort weer.

We had an excellent guide and found the tour of the museum, followed by the historic buildings of old Kimberley most worthwhile. The exhibits in the museum are done very well. Well done and thank you. Also friendly and helpful car guard in the dedicated car park.

Poor customer service, and experience visiting the Kimberley Mine Museum. I would give it zero-stars if I could. The male ticket person - I went with a group on November 27, 2023 at 1:42PM - has the worst ticket selling, ushering and customer service than most airport security personnel. Do better Kimberley Mine Museum!

The tour is approximately and hour, and very informative. The view of the big hole is breathtaking. A must see if you're passing through Kimberley. Also, the mine simulation is great, as well.

We did the big tour with the movie and underground tour . It was good . It was a basic overview of the history of the big hole . Money well spent and if you passing by, it will be well worth your time to stop in and have a look

We had an awesome time at the museum Was lucky enough to come across a tour that was lead by Dave If you decide to go on a tour with a guide make sure you go with him! Well spoken, extremely funny and excellent with the children.

We had a fantastic tour guide, David, who made the experience so memorable! Be sure to get a tour guide when you are there. I did it once without a guide, and it was still great, and then now again with a guide, but it was just so much more intriguing and educational. Well done on a good tourist attraction managed well!

Very professionell and interesting. You can do a guided tour or go by your own, both is 120R for adults. There is also a movie shown about the history of Kimberley and the big hole, which is quite interesting.

The world's first diamond mine from a Kimberlite pipe (so named for the city of Kimberly). Really fascinating.

Beautiful service from staff, place wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon. Tickets for an adult were R120. The lil cafe that served us food and beverages was great! Their service was amazing, especially from the gentleman who runs it. He was super funny and very accommodating. Best fresh chips we had!

The museum building is a theme in itself - really impressive and imposing and it matches and complements the enormous hand dug Kimberley hole. A well placed viewing structure helps the visitor appreciate the engineering feat of the early diggers against a backdrop of modern Kimberley. The surrounding historical town has been relocated from its original site to be incorporated into museum grounds. I loved the tram ride. The window shopping experience and visits to the doctor and bank is fascinating if you have any interest in the artefacts of past at all. The underground mine experience is really rattling if you have never been underground before. The museum exhibits related to the mining activities of Kimberley are super. This De Beers set up smacks of generous funding. Now whoever has those monstrous diamonds, can we have them back please.

What an amazing experience .Outstanding tour.plus underground tour with effects and the outstanding museum. The cherry on the top was the amazing tour guide David who made it into an interactive experience with much humour and audience participation. Outside is a whole mining town to explore. With stores if the area and a transport museum.,All I can say that it’s worth flying here for this experience if the drive is too long..Wow!
