DON’T EAT HERE…. …If you don’t want to eat amazing German food, laugh with the servers, enjoy a delicious meal with your friends/family, and appreciate the history of the building. Enjoy this place while you can as it may not be here for long. Thank you to the whole team for making our night!

My friend (and MC Hammer) said it best.. “Too legit to quit”. Hands down the best place to eat in Kimberley. The front of the house staff was awesome, friendly and quick. If you can’t decide on what to order get the Bavarian Feast (2 or more people). It comes with a large sample of their menu and is a fantastic value. For desert, get anything with their homemade ice cream. You can tell it was made with real cream and the flavours are to die for. I would recommend making reservations if you are in town and parking at the front is a little small but you can park on the street.

Honestly, I wish I took more pictures, to show how wonderful the food looked. While the presentation was wonderful, the taste was absolutely amazing. There's a reason that several locals recommended this restaurant. This is the kind of place where you must sit down, be patient, and enjoy your food, without a server pushing you along to get out. (They have a sign that says "plan on your dining experience lasting 2-hours, our reservation system requires it" The staff was fantastic, and helpful, as we had someone in the group that hadn't eaten Good German food before. We ordered alot of food for 3-people, after a long day of skiing without stopping for lunch, and every bite was Enjoyable. Our favorites (in order): 1. Puréed Chanterelle Mushroom Soup (Seasonal Special) - Garnished with Olive Oil & Sour Cream (Made with housemade chicken stock-not vegetarian) - nobody else wanted soup but my friends ended up cleaning the bowl with the fresh housemade breads 1.1. Housemade Sausages - THE Spicy Pork-seared pork sausage was truly amazing and had flavor that lingered and questions the palette in ways food never does. Our table ordered all 3 housemade sausages and liked this the best. 2. Elk Geschnetzeltes (Seasonal Special) - Seared Medallions of Elk Green Peppercorn & Dried Blueberry Sauce Spätzle Vegetables 3. Veal Wienerschnitzel Thinly pounded & breaded schnitzel, cooked in butter Pan-fried potatoes & vegetables Add the side of mushroom sauce 4. Schnitzel Munich - 5 oz unbreaded pork schnitzel, floured & seared Poached pear, brie cheese & pear jus Potato Rosti & Vegetables 5. Housemade Sausages 5.1 - Weisswurst-poached veal sausage 5.2 - Bratwurst-seared pork sausage 6. Vanilla Bean Pot de Creme Served with berry compote Garnished with whipped cream Choice was between This and Apple Streudel, would have gotten the Streudel but it had raisins in it. The Vanilla Bean Pot de Creme (like a pudding but better) was the perfect way to finish a wonderful meal, without being a heavy dessert. Will definitely be back next winter, when we visit Kimberley, BC. Wonderful

Sinfully good! My girl and I enjoy touring around and trying new menus and different restaurants. The Old Baurenhaus is a gorgeous historic building (1640) brought over and carefully assembled in the quaint alpine town of Kimberley. With its charm, wonderful service and incredible German inspired menu-it truly is an amazing experience! We ALWAYS come here whenever we’re in the area because we love it so much! Even after venturing to Germany, Austria, as well German restaurants in North America the Old Baurenhaus is definitely in the top all time!!! This last visit was for my birthday and WOW what a perfect present. Our server Christine treated us so well, was very personable and suggested many of the delicious items for us to enjoy with fresh Hefeweizen and wine pairing. ***must visit if you love German cuisine***🍺🏆🇩🇪

Fantastic food. Authentic. Great service . The garden setting is awesome, flowers, trees, the miniature swiss village you walk thru on your way up has amazing attention to detail. Lunch is typically an open face sandwich with an amazing homemade soup. The desert cakes are to die for.

👍👍 The food here is some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant! My friends and I all got something different and everything was amazing! I ordered the Mucky Fries as an afterthought for the table as an appy and well... I STILL think about them. Portions are huge, staff are friendly and I love the a...

👍👍 This place feels like an Irish pub traveled in Eastern Europe and then had a baby with team Sweden women's hockey team. Or maybe Gordon Bombay finally ended up dating Iceland's conditioning coach? Nevertheless, it's the perfect place to watch the Olympics (or the Jays), and sip a beer after a day of...

👍👍 With a great selection of foods and drinks the star attraction of course is the pizza. The stonefire oven merrily ambles along at a cozy 900 degrees, with larch burning a preference. I asked the 2 in-house cooks what their fav on the menu was. They offered up "grape pizza". Yes you heard that right...

😠 Chicken tasted old and smelt weird. Didn't finish. It came out so quickly the only way it could've been done in that time is if it was microwaved. No quality check from the workers. The owner/host was more interested in having tacos with his wife then checking on customers. Will actively tell peop...
