Good hotel, nice breakfast and well kept. Reason for my 3 stars is that I don't think its worth the price. My room was normal size, shower felt a bit dated and there wasn't a fridge in the room. There are much more options available in the area.

Hi guys. Nice stay thank you for one night. Great location. Dinner needs work. Our room based at an exit door with fan noises. Makes me wonder!! And you do not have to be so obvious that we are a multiracial couple. It's 2023. I feel our room was based on the opinion of the Receptionist. However Siphiwe and his breakfast team with morning receptionist was on point. Highly expensive alcohol and even bottled water. Consider that please. If you ask will we be back? Probably a no from us.

We started our experience with a reservation issue. But the staff at the reception desk was friendly, and they sorted the issue out fairly quickly. We requested assistance with our luggage because our rooms were on the 1st floor and they don't have an elevator. No one came. Later we went down for dinner, the food was very sad and the service was terrible. Back at the room we learned that there was no water. The water come back after 22h00 with no hot water. The next morning, again no water. So unfortunately our experience was not nice.

Beautiful hotel. Food is good but slow service. We waited almost an hour and 20 minutes for our food. The waiters forget to check in on you to keep you up to date with your order.

I haven’t stayed at the hotel but I have frequented the restaurant and conference centre. It’s so lovely, clean, friendly and helpful staff. And the view by the pool side is amazing. What a gem!

Got more that I expected for a small town like Kimberly, the hotel was busy, nice view, neat facility and dinner on my first night was divine, I almost didn't want to leave after 2 night, not forgetting, the staffs were so friendly and warm towards the guests

Can do better food. Menu is not very good. Some kitchen staff rude. We were twice told we were early at the dining room and in both instances they were behind time. And we had to rush as we had commitments. One morning we requested take-away breakfast and the did not want to give it to us the morning as they had no paper bags to put it in. We then insisted and they brought it out one without a bag.

This is a must visit if you ever in the area, right next to the big while is this gem of a hotel. Its old school yet homely decor makes you instantly relax when you walk though the door, the food and variety since I am a vegetarian was acceptable since most places forget about offering a vegetarian option, the rooms are big and homely and the views instantly re-energises you...do yourself a favor and go spend a night or two there..

Beautiful venue right opposite Kimbereley's Big hole. Lovely rooms. Was very disappointed when I ordered from room service. Very expensive and you don't get what they advertised on the menu. Buffet breakfast was great.

Great ambiance and fantastic people. Front desk are amazing F&B needs a little work. None of the heaters under soup or hot dessert working and cold custard as well...

Ordered ice for my room at 18:00, it arrived at 23:38. Ordered food before after 21:00, they came knocking on the door 23:38 AFTER we had to call them to remind them of our order. 4-star rating is extremely generous, when such service lacks. In addition, reception gives out guest information to third parties without checking on guests. I stayed in a suite, imagine the service to guests in the most basic rooms. Also educate your room service staff; they have no idea on your wine selection, and when the room service personnel attend physically, HOW to open a bottle of wine! I have been patronising Marriott for almost 2 decades. I can state that service here is seriously lacking! Room 122, Denrick Moos.

Really good service and very nice rooms. BUT the food is terrible. Both dinner buffet and ala carte was way below par for a 4 star hotel . When enquiring about the soup on the buffet, not even the chefs seem to know what ot was. Very unappetizing, so ordered steak and linefish. The steak was overdone and the chips a strange rubbery texture with yhe sause being glue - . The fish was unappetizing and looked strange. Left the food on the table.Would recommend staying here, but steer clear of the dining room.

The Hotel is at a busy attraction centre. It is very clean and so attractive. The service I received recently from the stuff is so professional and hear warming. Their food menu is top and I had many to choose from. I am also highly impressed that they catered for my halaal food preference and food I got there was hearty and delicious. The rooms were clean, with TV, WiFi connectivity, DStv and there was coffee, tea, sugar and milk . There was 3 white towels, white sheets with extra blankets... The bathroom and shower was clean to the core and smelling very pleasant. I stayed there for 3 days and I could just over a phone arrange for breakfast room service with easy.

Spent the night with my siblings. Best experience. Hotel stuff friendly. Beautiful place. We then went to The Big Hole the next morning. Loved the experience and would return again if I can.

I paid for a 4 star facility and got the poorest service one can imagine. The towels for one look and feel like "vloerlappe". My booking was for myself, my husband and our 13 year old. However, they only made provision for 2 people in the room even though I paid for 3.. The bath had stains in it. I will never ever again in my life stay there again and will spread the word where ever I go.

I stayed there on 22July for one night only with my sickly parents. I requested early check in around 12:00 , if it was possible and a ground floor unit, 2days ahead of arrival. I know and understand early check in is not guaranteed, but no response from the hotel. I delayed check in till the correct time, as it wasn't a problem. Upon check in at 14:20 , I'm told the room is not ready, they're still cleaning, at 14:20 in the afternoon! I expressed my unhappiness and asked if the hotel was full and if they can perhaps change it to another room that was ready. I was told to wait, and to take a seat, then she called someone. Another lady at the reception said, but you requested a ground floor unit. So clearly they did get my request. I asked if there was a lift if the room was to change, as my dad struggles to walk. My point is, the lady at reception was just not friendly. Patience should learn how to be friendly towards paying customers, she wasn't doing me a favour. Eventually, our room was changed. I ended up not even booking for dinner or breakfast. Dirty cutlery on the floor by our room door. I've stayed in many hotels before, but the service here was really poor. The gentleman at reception the next morning , was smiling at least.

First night here and it’s been bad. The in-room dining experience is horrible. We ordered at 19h00, had to call several times to request our order again and again (repeating it again and again to several people too) only to have it arrive at 21h45. And they’ve yet again misses an item. We have a nine year old with us who is starving and needs to get to sleep. Then they have the audacity to charge us nearly the full price. How is that okay Protea hotel Kimberley?!? I must say I have stayed at other Protea hotels and I only have good words for them, but restaurant experience here has tainted my entire experience with protea hotel Kimberley.

Good positioning away from the hustle and bustle. An added bonus is that the hotel is right next to The Big Hole tourist attraction. Some rooms are away from the main building but this added to the peaceful stay. Staff are very friendly and very responsive to the needs to guests.

A perfect place to be. Location is perfect. Next to the Big hole. Very relaxing. Educational especially with the big hole history. Will definitely visit again

We had our year end function at the hotel restaurant. We booked a table for 11 people weeks in advance. We experienced the worst service. Our drinks took forever to arrive. The incorrect drinks arrived. They replaced drinks unavailable with alternative drinks without consultation. When the food arrived well over an hour after we ordered 1 person was informed they didn’t have the ingredients to prep their order - while others already had their food! The food was delivered in drips and drabs. The last dish delivered after some in the group finished eating. The food quality was poor. The manager was unavailable to assist with our concerns. We were informed they had trainee chefs as the reason for the poor food delivery. Incredibly poor service. Would NEVER recommend.

Great hotel, friendly staff. The pool is just a large tub thats not heated so not kid friendly. Next to the big hole but not walking distance from any stores.

Very nice stay, beautiful and unique rooms. Food is okay but it's not the best. Staff are really friendly and attentive to your needs. The room walls are a little thin cause I could hear my neighbors have a real good time, very loudly.

The venue is excellent. Provides world class conference facilities. Has a generator to counter loadshedding. Provides for people with disabilities. Friendly staff very helpful they greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome. Today the food was not as good as previous visits. It's usually restaurant quality.

Super great service and customer care. The food is lovely and they have a nice view towards the Kimberly Big Hole.

Can be stuffy.... not consistent. I arrived an was not ask if I may be assisted with my baggage, yet just when I was about to leave the white man was asked if he can be assisted with his luggage an mind you not that I needed assistance but if I was asked atleast. So it tells me I don't need assistance but the white man does. Be consistent in your approach as an establishedment.

We as a family had such a lovely stay at the Protea Hotel in Kimberley. It is a beautiful place and the staff was SO friendly and accomodating! The beds was very comfortable and the breakfast awesome! Each and every staff member was very professional and we had a great stay! Thank you so much

Friendly staff, but my experience is not favouring the management of the establishment. During my visit of 3 days it was raining for 2 nights. There was and still is a water leakage from the roof in Room 422, it was reported, maintenance visited but could not repair it. The leak was just above the toilet which made it awkward and uncomfortable. Management did not even take the time to apologise for the inconvenience caused. This hotel gave me all the motivation to use alternative accommodation when visiting Kimberley again.

🤦🏽‍♂️It's 2022 people but we're calling room service for an iron, why? When it arrived it was black like it was dipped in tar. Change👏🏽 your 👏🏽pixelated 👏🏽TVs 👏🏽! Put smart TVs so we can watch whatever we want.

Absolutely terrible. The food was disgusting (conferencing). They burnt the rice, and the dessert cake was also burnt.

The rooms were good. We were greeted by very pleasant staff. That's where the good experiencing ended. The food from dinner to breakfast was below substandard for roast us expected from a Protea group of hotels. What was ordered from the a la carte menu is not necessity what is brought to the table whether it is mains or desserts. There are insufficient vegetarian options on the menu and/or items appearing on the menu are not available. Starters ordered arrived with the main course. We ordered lunch packs for the day. The veg option was shredded cooked cabbage in a wrap (horrible, bland), the meat option was beef burgers (patties that were not cooked through and had to be thrown away). Very disappointing.

Poor booking experience, not the cleanest place and service in the restaurant has been so disappointing…sadly it seems this their version of normal operations! It is a shame to the Big Hole location. The duty manager wasn’t well equipped to manage the operation. General management should better support their operations towards improvements…

On our stopp from east to the northwest we stayed in the Protea Kimberly, located directly beside the Big Hole! The hotel clean, staff very welcoming but the rooms are poorly soundproofed - so one could hear everything from the neighbourhood. Breakfast was delicious and waiters very attentive.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. When we arrived during lunch time we went to the restaurant to eat something. The preparation of one salad and a burger took close to an hour. This is way too long considering there were only two other tables occupied. Also the service during the meals was not good. Unfortunately this also impacts the over all service rating, but the service at the reception was fine. So if you avoid the restaurant the hotel experience becomes much more enjoyable.

The loaction is not far from airport( less then 7km). The staff is friendly, especially Colin at the front desk with assistance with my suitcases..lol in the rain.. A big thank you to Shaun part of maintance when the bath tab was a problem in my room and he see to it that ive been relocated to another room as quickly as possible(as it has been done within 10min) . And lastly, the breakfast was devine as usual, big thumbs up to Lucy who ask about my stay at the hotel and how they can improve . This hotel is definitely a place to stay..Thank you all.

This hotel does not deserve 4 stars. The breakfast was literally disgusting and inedible. Old nasty boiled eggs, half raw pastries, ancient pastries… everything done by evidently apathetic lazy staff. We hardly touched it. Dinner at 250 per head was not good enough to compete with a cheap roadside dive - its THAT bad. Booking was done wrong. The rooms are shoddy and tiny. The clientele are made up of barbaric party animals who the hotel allows to drink and sit and block the front entrance and make drunken noise in the rooms. This is a place that needs a 1 star rating so that decent people know its meant for lower types.

The hotel looked nice and I loved the vintage style and the service was great for the first few days. The housekeeping is not good because they do not sweep the rooms and only change bedding and sheets every after 4 days which is very unhygienic. The breakfast buffet was very boring. They always serve the same thing everyday day and their omelet is horrible. Some of the food that was left from dinner, I’ve noticed was part of the breakfast buffets dishes like roasted chicken breasts and steak&kidney pie. Their drinks are expensive, a red bull is R45! This is worst hotel that I’ve spent my money on and I definitely DO NOT recommend.

Extremely friendly personnel, always willing to assist. Rooms are very good, bed and cushions are very comfortable. Breakfast was also great 😃. Happy hour in the bar from 6 - 7 pm was very welcome cause the drinks are quite expensive. Cappuccino was delicious....
