Kimberley Hospital

Hospital

😠 This is my first visit at this Hospital and my heart is very sore to the state this health facility is in. The bathrooms are disgusting with no toilet paper or proper working facilities. Patients sleeping on ice cold beds without a mattress and even some laying on the cold floor with only a sheet..... People often mention patients, hospital, waiting,

This is my first visit at this Hospital and my heart is very sore to the state this health facility is in. The bathrooms are disgusting with no toilet paper or proper working facilities. Patients sleeping on ice cold beds without a mattress and even some laying on the cold floor with only a sheet.. Service is incredibly slow and waiting periods are crazy. A plus is that very few staff members are friendly and attend to patients with dignity other staff just float by. I pray and trust that this facility picks up and becames a better health facility.

I am utterly disgusted in Kimberley Hospital. How do they keep ill old age patients overnight waiting for a bed and having to sleep in a wheelchair, my grandfather is still currently at the hospital since yesterday morning and now it is almost 7am the following morning, no bed to sleep in, they had to make a bed on the floor for him, a family member had to remove his empty drip this morning because the staff on duty just could not care anymore and all the patients that were waiting overnight must probably just follow the queue again as they are busy assisting today's patients. Does the well being of the patients no longer matter. Why not let the patients go home and at least get a good nights REST!!! NO, they must stay at the hospital and sleep on cold floors all because they cannot afford private medical care. Some-one, somewhere needs to do something about this!!!!!!! This is sickening.

My grandfather suffered a massive stroke and the staff will not allow any family to see him. My aunt is a nurse and snuck in under the pretense of being a patient. She found my grandfather naked without a blanket or sheet on his bed. He remains unresponsive. The staff are rude and won't even provide updates via telephone. Security only allows access to people who offer bribes. This is for Robert Mangaliso hospital.

Very bad. Infrastructure is pathetic, diagnosis and prognosis is suspect. I will gladly pay tax to see that our vulnerable are cared for. Sadly, the shambolic state of these hospitals is laughable. Mismanaged is an understatement. State hospitals have turned into mortuaries.

I understand the notices all over the place warning not to take photos or video- it is because they do not want the horrible situation the place is in to be evidenced on social media. To get accepted in the system you have to go through what they call Triage( filthy to say the least!) and Gate Way. We sat for more than 5 hours just to get a number to be seen by a dr and then we sat a further 5 hours in front of the Emergency Centre. I and my 15 year old daugther, waiting to be accepted to get help. I have a hospital plan so I'll be charged even though my child did not get anything to eat or drink while lying in the ER until I asked them for something when I got to her again the next morning 9h30. The drs were however eating and drinking in front of all the patients lying there. The following meal was that night. What a traumatic experience of the wonderful free medical services in South Africa! It is a blatant lie and most of the patients are the most vulnerable without the will or knowledge of how to fend for themselves.

You only get the help when you have the money. How can a state hospital refuse the surgery of a cancerous patient in desperate need. I hate this place. I can't believe they did this. I will not change my mind about this place any time soon if they do not step up their game and get the place fixed up. It is literally unbelievable..

Only Tertiary hospital in Northern Cape. Excellent service. Overcrowding and prolonged waiting time in casualty is mainly caused by the public not utilising primary healthcare services in town, and arriving in casualty for non-emergency problems. As a Tertiary hospital, it should receive and treat only referred patients. Still majority of patients attending casualty arrive without any referral letter.
