The food is great! The banana bread is so fresh and light! I must highlight the service. The staff are amazing! I’d definitely be back soon.

Really fun place for a weekend brunch. We came without a reservation on a Sunday morning. Said it would be 20 minutes, but had us seated in 6. Staff was friendly. Menu was diverse and had plenty of options, vegan gluten free etc. We sat out on the patio, which was closed and heated, and even on a cold day was very comfortable. The food was all delicious and it had a very good atmosphere/vibe. We would definitely recommend, and will be coming back!

This is a cute neighborhood restaurant, with great service and delicious food. 😋 we wished we ordered the French toast (so if you have sweet tooth, you should consider it). I ordered extra cheese on my omelet and it was just the right amount of cheese! The menu has several appealing food options that you won't regret the visit

This place reminds me of the joy one has eating at a neighborhood restaurant who loves, and are loved by the community. The staff and servers know almost everyone and are quick to gain your affection. The service matches the delicious food. How I wish I were able to eat for three. I would had tried the French toast, pancakes, omelettes, Benedict, pate, mussels, French onion soup, & array of salads. Honestly, way too many menu choices to list in one post. I ate brunch and decided on the chipped beef, angus ground beef with potato & scrambled soft eggs. It was served with a wonderful béarnaise sauce snd topped with a homemade croissant. The coffee was buttery and frequently topped off. I can’t say enough about the ambiance with both indoor & outdoor options. It felt like at a quaint cafe in Paris. A perfect summer brunch choice!

We stopped at Del Ray Cafe for brunch after shopping and were so pleased! We’ve lived in the DC/ NoVa area for over 6 years and haven’t tried this place but will absolutely be back. When we walked in it felt like grandmas house in the best way. Our service was phenomenal from Allen & the food was incredible. My husband got the Croque Monsieur and I got the Organic spinach and ricotta ravioli. Both incredible. Our server recommended we come back for dinner and that’s exactly what we will soon do!

Del Ray Cafe is an exceptional breakfast spot with a fantastic atmosphere and impeccable service. Their extensive menu offers a wide selection of breakfast dishes to suit any preference. We had the pleasure of trying the Croque Madame and Quiche Lorraine, both of which were absolutely delicious. The quiche was incredibly tender, and we especially loved its puff pastry crust. The coffee at Del Ray Cafe was also outstanding. I highly recommend visiting this place for an exceptional breakfast experience.

This restaurant is located in a lovely neighborhood. All the staff that works there are friendly and they check on you frequently. French Onion soup was tasty and had a good balance in terms of sweetness. Bread is already soaked inside which was interesting. Their Chicken Sandwich is also amazing. The pancakes were very cakey and melting in your mouth.

this is a french place but a big brunch place. i felt like my crep was very small, and the other ppl thought they vegie hash should be just called roasted veggies with an egg. if you are an egg place, I recommend it, but if you are not a big egg person, i could skip it. staff are very friendly and trying to overcomensate for mediocre food.

Slightly pricey but good food and service. Parking is very limited (a few spaces in the back; 1 or 2 in front), which tells me this great for the neighborhood locals to walk to. It's very comfortable inside, with most seating upstairs. This was my first time but liked what I got. My wife had the salmon, eggs, salad, and fruit and a croissant; she loved it. I had the open-faced chicken salad sandwich and soup of the day (potato and leek), which was slightly light on salt but that's a good thing.

Super rude waiter. My first interaction with this waiter was to be admonished for being seated before my party was full. Why? How am I responsible for your seating system? When I arrived the host pleasantly acknowledged that I was 1 of 2 and led me to the table and took a drink order straight away. My fellow diner arrived within 15 min. As soon as our waiter realized that we had come in for just coffee and conversation we were cut off and scoffed at. How dare we come in to a French cafe for coffee and conversation!! We were presented with the check immediately and asked if we were ready to go 4 times in 10 minutes. After several polite smiles and an acknowledgement, from us, that we saw the check, we realized we were not welcome and paid the bill and left. His intent was clear. We were simply a percentage of total sales and not actual people. Thanks

What are you waiting for? If you have not tried Del Ray Cafe, you are missing out! Our neighbors raved about this place and we never made it a point to try it… until now. We decided to take company there. What a hit! The menu has something for everyone. Farm to table. The food was incredible! Go! You will not be disappointed!

Parking was a little hard to fine but it wasn’t that bad. The menu is was formatted in a way that was very difficult to read. It took my friends and I a little longer than usual to figure out what we wanted. All the staff and servers were really friendly and helpful. I got their SOS chipped beef, presentation wise it was kinda ugly but it tasted really good so I don’t mind. Overall it was a good experience and my friends and I will come back.

Was greeted by a lovely young woman at the front door and seated right away. Ordered the Benedict and a latte and it was at my table within ten minutes. Beautifully plated and everything was delicious. Latte was piping hot. Waitstaff was busy but still was attentive and very kind. Had a manager stop by and ask how my food was as well which I always find to be a nice touch when they do the rounds and check in.

This a great breakfast/brunch place. The service and the food were great. The salmon and crab benedict were delicious and quite special with the croissant base. The chouquette dessert was the cherry on top of an amazing meal, fluffy fresh and delicious. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming.

While the people working here are lovely, the food (breakfast at least) is very overpriced and underwhelming. The crabcake in the benedict was brown , the veggies were undercooked, the fruit was all the straight from the can (10000% not fresh at all). The granola parfait was covered in syrup and super sugary. We had a piece of glass we bit into when eating pancakes and showed it to the waiter who goes "oh it's not glass, just plastic". However they were incredibly apologetic and comped the meal and brought us free dessert on the house. The dessert was the best part of the meal by far.

It is an excellent restaurant, the servers have a fabulous attitude but unfortunately the host people are too rude and do not think enough how they should serve customers, I think it was the last time I went to this place. I came in later, my usual server was letting me in, but the host didn’t allow me to seat until my party of another 2 persons arrived. It toke them 10 min until they came, and then didn’t allow to pass because the 3 person was not at the porch, was parking. I understand the covid restrictions but I don’t understand the rudeness of the host.

We visited DC and wanted to get out of the city on our way home and have brunch. Trip Advisor claims this cafe one of the best restaurants in VA. I am here to confirm this claim. Parking is very scarce but the appetizers alone make a mile long walk in three feet of snow worth it. #noexaggeration The excellent service starts before you walk in the door-seriously. Our server not only knows the food but very attentive without being a nuisance. He was very friendly and confident. The cafe uses a team effort to keep everyone content. Food presentation was beyond reproach. Food temperature was perfect. I won’t mention the food so you can enjoy the experience. If this isn’t enough they use local vendors for the best quality.

I had a really nice experience 2 weeks ago when I visited Del Ray Cafe for a catch up with my fellow Realtors. It was a bit surprising that what looked like a house was now a fully functioning quaint restaurant. The food was very delicious and the staff friendly. I ordered the egg and veggies hash and it was really nice! My colleagues also enjoyed their meals. I will definitely go back!

Wow! Absolutely delicious. Was looking for authentic french breakfast flavor and Del Ray Cafe nailed it. No wonder it’s ranked as one of the best breakfast spots in the area. Highly recommend. Salmon Benedict delivered. Service had a staff change-over when we visited and ordering took a bit long— maybe said another way, it was authentically French in the ordering process too. 😂

What a nice place! Great atmosphere in a converted old house. Very friendly and competent staff. Most of all we enjoyed the food. They have limited off-street parking but being that it's in a residential area parking on the street should be easy most of the time. I got a spot less than a block away. We tried Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. The only negative was that there were so many menu choices that it was tough to decide. I ended up going with the amazing yogurt parfait and the eggs Benedict croissant. My wife got a "lunchier" chicken salad sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Everything was great. Even though it was busy we didn't have to wait for a table and the service was outstanding. We plan on trying this place for dinner in the very near future.

I am never disappointed with a meal from Del Ray Cafe. They are consistently among my very favorite restaurants. Someday, I look forward to "dining in" once again, but for now, being able to pick up a delicious meal from Del Ray Cafe is such a treat.

Outstanding! I had the Lobster Benedict. It was to die for! The service was very attentive, yet not intrusive. Everyone was polite, cheerful and friendly. It's definitely on our list to revisit when we are back in the area.

I love this place... it reminds me of a place in La Jolla, CA called The Cottage. The food is just as good and the people who work there are nice like Californias. That is saying alot that somewhere in VA reminds me of San Diego. They also have the best coffee.

  • 5/5 Kristina V. 3 years ago on Google
The latte was surprisingly delicious. It's a super cute house-restaurant that feels homey and sweet. The french toast was yummy for sure, and my husband's omelet looked amazing. Fresh fruit was legit *fresh* fruit, and the crossaints were buttery flakey, as they should be. Pricey for sure, but honestly not outrageous for this area.

I really liked this café! It has a very fresh and organic feel to it! We chose this place based on the reviews and the food photos! Anyways, get the beignets as a starter, so fluffy and delightful. If your looking for something a little more hearty, I’d definitely recommend the Duck Leg Confit & Wild Mushroom Shepards Pie!

Came here for a quick brunch/breakfast on a Wednesday and it was fantastic! A very cool spot nestled into a residential street in Alexandria. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the food was very tasty! I got the lobster eggs benedict which was the special for that day, and it was very tasty. Only downside is that meal was actually pretty cold (at least, the lobster was). But the flavors were great and I was very hungry, so I didn't worry about mentioning it.

Just tried this place for the first time and it was fantastic. So excited to find a new good neighborhood joint. We ordered mushroom soup, a pasta, lamb shank and beignets from their restaurant week menu. The lamb shank was delicious! The beignets came with an amazing orange creme anglaise which I could drink by the vatfull. Definitely recommend!

Best brunch stop of our whole trip. It’s hard to pick a favorite item because everything was top notch! Don’t skip on the croissants for a starter (you can also get them to go). I ordered the crab eggs benedict; it was all superb; from the flakes croissant to the plentiful quantity of crab, and the eggs were cooked perfectly with a decadent hollandaise sauce. The chocolate moose with homemade whipped cream was very flavorful and a pleasant texture. The atmosphere was cozy and clean. The ceiling in the upstairs was pretty and there was lots of natural light which is great for a breakfast stop.

What a great place for breakfast/brunch. Very nice staff and the food is VERY well prepared. I've been here several times now, and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the service is always a bit slow; not terribly slow, but you will wait on coffee refills and follow-up checks.

The service is good. However, if you don’t have a car and are staying in Olde Town Alexandria you can’t walk and must take an Uber or a cab as it’s near mount Vernon Avenue.I only wish I went there at the beginning of my trip as I believe their quality surpasses most of the restaurants in Old Town Alexandria.Oh well, next trip!

This is an amazing place!! We had breakfast, it was simply amazing. Coffee is amazing, its atmosphere is cozy and people is so friendly! I will totally recommend you to visit them. I for sure will come back if I visit Alexandria again :)

Brunch was fantastic, service was great & the cafe was beautiful. We didn’t have a reservation but they put us on the waiting list and had us seated within 20 minutes. One thing to note: They will not seat you until your whole party is present, so highly recommend taking one car and all arriving together. Only knock was the price of mimosas—I believe they were $10/mimosa, which is about $3-$5 more than other brunch places in Del Ray.

  • 5/5 Rebecca R. 5 years ago on Google
WOW! What a charming and authentic French treat. We were immediately greeted by the host when we walked in. Cute location with organic, flavorful food. Friendly staff and vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. Varied and healthy kids menu. I will definitely stop by here again!

Not impressed. I'd rename this spot Disappointment Breakfast on Del Ray instead. First time ordering from here, I called at 8:30am they told me they don’t open until 9am. I asked if I should call back, they said no that my order will be ready at 9:10. I get there to pick up my food and I'm not even greeted at the door. Two employees even walked by me and they weren't swamped by any means. I had to wave a person down to be spoken to. Anyways, it takes until 9:34am to receive my food. I paid $34 for 2 Egg's Benedict (1 vegetarian) my husband’s Egg's Benedict is tiny, barely any sauce, no potatoes, comes with a salad. My meal was also equally unimpressive (it came with 2 little slices of potato and veggies ) and lacked flavor. Literally one of the most disappointing breakfasts I've ever had and somehow this place has great reviews. I’d skip this spot to be honest, don't be fooled by their good star rating like we were. There are so many others on Del Ray where you actually get fed and the food doesn't taste like sadness in your mouth.

We ordered ultra-fresh oysters, escargot, steak, the halibut special, imaginative desserts....everything was fresh and tasty. What a wonderful surprise. My family just moved to Alexandria. We'll be back often, with any luck. I highly recommended this restaurant. Must try.

This is an excellent place, to be honest, The waiters and the food are awesome, but unfortunately, the hosting service was the worst I have to seem. I have been visiting this place for a while and this is the first time I was treated rudely, my first reaction was deciding to go to a different place. I understand the policies in place in regards to COVID-19, but there are many kind ways to treat customers... I definitely would think it twice before come back there, my suggestions to the owner are revising the public attention crew.

Very disappointed. Came here a few weeks ago with my dog, got seated outside without issue. Specifically took time out of my day to return here, and asked for a seat outside and was told that they don’t allow dogs all of a sudden. After taking time out of my day to come to this establishment and knowing from previous experience that dogs were allowed outside I had to leave this time, they need to figure out their policies and communicate them effectively because this was not acceptable.

There is only handicap parking in the rear which is limited to only one space due to the lot being used for outdoor seating. There is ample street parking up and down the block. All in all highly recommended to try out the brunch menu. I hope to come baxknand try the dinner menu.

My friend and I weren't planning to go out today, but when I forwarded the DRC Alexandria Restaurant Week menu to her, we just had to go and get curbside pick-up. My DRC salad was delicious and there was no problem getting my duck breast cooked well done. Too bad the camera couldn't capture the delicious aroma in the car on the way home.
