I am a new dog mom and I was frantically searching for a vet in the area. I reached out to Grove Center Veterinary Hospital and the receptionist I spoke with was so knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and the ones she wasn't sure of she assured me that the doctor would be able to answer them. When I arrived for my appointment I met with Dr. Bender and he answered all of my questions and referred me to the library on the website as well. He was so calm with my puppy and made her feel at ease. He is definitely a breath of fresh air!

I just got my puppy spayed by Dr. Bender on Monday and I only have great things to say! I had full trust going into the surgery, as Dr. Bender already spayed my parents dog years ago. My biggest worry was my puppy being lonely and in her crate while I wasn't there. However, the entire staff took amazing care of her and gave her more love and attention than I could have ever even asked for. I would absolutely recommend to anyone in the area who is looking for a new vet!

I've been meaning to post this review for a while. I took my German shepherd ZEN in 2020 to Dr Bender because he had a swollen leg. His blood tests came back abnormal but they were able to treat his leg. We were referred to an internal medicine vet, and unfortunately, my dog was diagnosed with final stage of hemangiosercoma and had to be put to sleep. We were only at Dr Bender' s a couple of times, but he and his team were nothing but professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate each time. When they found out my dog passed away, they sent me a beautiful card. I would recommend Grove Hospital to anyone looking for wonderful compassionate care for their pets.

Dr. Bender and the entire staff at Grove is amazing. They are kind, patient, thorough, and loving to my pets and to me! I highly recommend this practice. I am so happy to have found them.

Our dog Riggs was adopted from a D.C. shelter. He was the last dog selected. No one wanted him. He was 30 pounds under weight, just skin and bones. His tail was mutilated and he suffered from a bacterial infection of the skin, but my daughter loved him and wanted him. Riggs made a huge difference in her life. After several vets failed to relieve Riggs of the constant bleeding Dr. Bender took over and nursed Riggs back to health. He prescribed antibiotics, probiotics, anti itch medication and Omega 3 fish oil. He also recommended a sensitive skin and digestive food which Riggs loves. Dr. Benders staff includes two of the greatest Kierstin and Angelina. They are my hero's. They are truly two individuals who go above and beyond the normal level of care for your pet. Mere words cannot do justice for the great appreciation I have for the Grove Center Veterinary Hospital.

After adopting an.adult cat from the shelter, I brought her here on the advice of a friend and was not disappointed. The staff was wonderful and kind. The place was clean and even took the time to give me suggestions for food. I will be back and would suggest anyone looking for a new doctor to try here.

Great Vet! Have been taking my cat here for over a year, all the vet assistant and Dr. Bender are very nice and professional. They called me to check in on a stray cat that I was fostering because they care! I highly recommend them. Thank you all for being great!

We took our 11 week old golden here and are happy to say we have found our designated Vet. The staff greeted us warmly, took great care of Luna, and took the time to answer all our questions (even though they had to stand in the rain outside our car, Covid). We will be back in a few weeks for her final round of shots. AMAZING PEOPLE! LOOK NO FURTHER THAN GROVE CENTER. -J

Dr Bender and Staff are amazing. They were so kind and accommodating to my 11 year old St. Bernard. The care and kindness shown Tank was very much appreciated, down to cutting Tank's nails. It is clear Dr Bender and staff are invested in giving top notch care to each patient. Dr Bender is extremely smart and strategic with the care plan for animals. My Saint was on a medication that I thought was giving him pain relief for his arthritic condition. It wasn't even appropriate for his condition. Dr Bender corrected that immediately and was committed to making Tank more comfortable. If you want high quality care for your pet Grove Center is the place to go.

Best vet ever! I was frantic when my Leo had blood in his stool! Grove Center was the closest vet ER and I called them and explained my situation and they got me in with in 30 Minutes they were so understanding, professional, and super kind! Seeing them really made me feel at ease with Leo! The team was so knowledgeable on everything!

Great service and caring staff! Dr. Bender clearly has immense experience and can make well-informed decisions in critical situations. Highly recommend this veterinary hospital.

The staff is great but they charge you unnecessarily. I got charged about $60 extra for “office visit” in addition to the $80+ I spent on the booster shots I brought my dog in for. I should’ve just stayed in my car & asked them to bring the shots out then.

We have 2 kittens that we take to Grove Center. We had also taken our previous cats there too before they passed. Dr. Bender and his staff are wonderful. They make sure you make well informed decisions and are great with our pets. I feel very safe in our decision to bring our cats there. They have an answering service and unfortunately we've had to use the them a few times when our very old cats were ill. I knew that when we had an emergency Dr. Bender was just a phone call away. I hope he gets some sleep, I know we had to get a hold of him several times in the span of a couple months there at the end but I can only imagine how many people need to as well. Another great thing about them is they don't overcharge. Pets can be EXPENSIVE and usually unexpected bills occur from having them but I am happy to say that Grove Center is very fair in their pricing.

The staff and Dr. Bender were very helpful, they explained everything we needed to know to take care of our new puppy. I asked many dog owners for recommendations for a veterinarian and feel fortunate to have found Dr. Bender.

I have officially found our new family vet. And I couldn’t be anymore happier! My request for my cat (Grace) to be seen on the same day was very impressive. The entire staff from front desk to Dr Bender were incredibly supportive, so kind and professional. Thank you, we can’t wait to come back ☺️!!

Dr. Bender and his staff are extraordinary in every way -- the thoroughness of a 'regular' exam to investigative work when there are issues that initially appear to be unknown -- and not giving up -- finding answers and solutions with thoughtfulness, empathy, and genuine care. They always follow-up in the days, weeks, and months with calls when there is long-term care needed and answer every question and concern. When we have said 'goodbye' to a pet, they made every resource known to us (pet bereavement groups, etc.) as we healed after the loss -- but mostly, they offered their care and support. We have been so blessed to have Dr. Bender and his staff look after our furry rescue family for many years now and have recommended them over and over again. Grove Center Veterinary Hospital is a special place.

I am absolutely floored by Dr. Bender’s compassion and empathy and dedication as well the professionalism of his team and the entire set up of the practice. I called the after hours line because of an emergency on thanksgiving day when my pet was throwing up and had rectal bleeding with diarrhea . The answering service listened to me patiently and asked if my pet was an existing patient. Despite the fact that we said that she wasn’t he was compassionate and said that he would relay our message . I was not expecting a call back thinking that it was a holiday and that since we weren’t an existing patient. To my surprise Dr. Bender called me back within 5 minutes and patiently heard me out patiently and assessed the situation and provided his expert advice and directed us to the Vet ER. The next morning I got a call from his office at 8.30 AM to follow up on Zambi and I was speechless. Never have I ever experienced so much compassion and empathy from a vet office and that too we aren’t an existing patient. Needless to say I am transferring my pets care to Dr. Bender . My deepest gratitude to him and his staff. I cannot thank you enough.

Dr. Bender and the Grove Center team have been my vet of choice for nearly 20 years. They have helped me and my family through new puppies, kittens, health emergencies and well check-ups. I have always felt 100% confident in Dr. Bender's diagnostic skills and providing me appropriate and cost-effective options for my pets. The staff is always friendly and helpful and it feels great when they remember my pets. I would highly recommend Dr. Bender to anyone looking for a caring, thoughtful and responsive vet. Did I mention he does housecalls?! Do beware of his dry sense of humor. I've always been a fan, but it may take getting used to for some.
