Really enjoyed this local place! I was walking around, looking for something good to eat. Saw the painting on the back of this building and had to try it. Nice place, laid back and slow paced which is exactly what you expect for the atmosphere. I had the oxtail, it was very good. Slow cooked and tender! Heat levels have been Americianized. If you like spicy, make sure to request a higher heat level. This is the perfect place to sit back, visit with friends, and enjoy an authentic meal. Dave (the owner) is a fantastic guy. Enjoyed talking with him. Hopefully I can book another trip through soon. Dave, thanks for your hospitality and don't forget about us in Tulsa!

The food was so tasty and the place was clean. The service was very kind but it was a little slower then we expected. It took just under 40 minutes to get our food so we did have to break out the hold fish for the kids. But once the food came it was super good! When you first start nothing is spicy but as you eat it builds and just ends up being a nice warm.

Ive had Jamaican food all over the world and in Jamaica several times. This was some of the best oxtails I’ve ever had. The grave should be bottled up and sold by itself. Definitely coming back tomorrow

This veteran owned establishment exceeded all my expectations. Their spin on jerk chicken was terrific. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly for a Saturday evening. The customer service was the highlight of my visit, everyone from the cooks and waiters were extraordinarily pleasant and welcoming. I will definitely visit again and recommend dining there.

3.12.23 -Happy Sunday! This review is so long over due but here we go. Firstly, I want to say congratulations- you guys are so incredible and I say that because I would’ve never imagined a Caribbean restaurant in this location and it looks to be so strong standing! On a visit to KS we googled Caribbean food and based off the reviews we drove the 40 minutes here. The ambiance was quite calm, we were greeted by the owner and seated. After a brief Q&A and some laughter we were brought our appetizer ( Jerk wings) I think this was my favorite part of the meal- the flavors did not hold back and the added bbq sauce went perfectly. My boyfriend had the curry chicken and the owner chose the curry goat for me as our entree. Both dishes were good, but being Caribbean I’m used to our dishes being a little more spiced- the owner did tell us and we totally understood based off the demographics, but again it lacked in that area for me.. The purple drink I’m sorry to say I wasn’t a fan of but it came recommended ( try it for yourself ) for me, I just didn’t like the purple syrup it was a bit strong. All in all this was a great venture, the place was lovely, the food is good, the staff was welcoming and it was a definitely a vibe. Definitely give this place a try! If I’m ever again in KS, I’ll definitely make the drive for those jerk wings! Island Spice BIG UP YUHSELF!

Food was excellent and service was outstanding. Food came out fresh and pretty fast. The flavor was on point!! Great atmosphere, clean environment, would recommend it to all that are here in Leavenworth, KS

The intended restaurant was closed so we went here instead. Totally excellent food, people were great, and the place was really interesting. We're going back.

This was our first visit to Island Spice to celebrate my birthday and we were so impressed! Dave was so friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions and working to make our night memorable. We opted for the curried goat and jerk chicken - both dishes were delicious and fresh. The beans and rice, cabbage, and plantains added so much to the dishes and we both finished every last bite as the food was so good. Dave helped us both pick mixed drinks that perfectly suited our tastes and helped set the tone. We will definitely be back!

Great restaurant good fresh food. Surprising for the location. I would definitely recommend for anyone to try. They have a full bar and karaoke, just a layed back atmosphere. The owner was awesome came to the table and made us feel welcome. I had the curry goat and I must say it was tender and flavorful. Highly recommend...

Came in with a party of 8 late in the day. They made special accommodations for us with what they had left available in the kitchen. Great food and Dave was fantastic and made IT Happen! 100% would recommend!

What a gem! Dave was the most amazing person! I have never had such a fun dining experience. The food was out of this world and the service was second to none! I can't wait to come back!

Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant provides a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service, and the food is out of this world! Should you decide to visit, my family and I highly recommend the Brown Stewed Chicken and Oxtail meals. Don't forget the coco bread. The food is fantastic!
