Had an appalling meal here during the bank holiday weekend. Booked a table ahead of time but when we arrived we stood for about 5 minutes being blanked by multiple members of staff who walked past with their heads down not making eye contact. We had to ask at the bar to be sat down and were eventually taken to our table. The place seemed dirty with stuff on the floor and tables not cleaned. The toilets were also dirty, some cubicles with no loo roll and no soap in one of the dispensers. The food menu was good and had plenty of options then we ordered on the app to save having to wait to get staff's attention again. 20 minutes later our drinks finally arrived. 50 minutes later from ordering, our food arrived (can't understand why it took so long as the place was half empty and we weren't told there would be a significant wait for food). My Mac n cheese was a disappointment to say the least, a tiny child's size portion, the side salad was just leaves, no tomato, cucumber or dressing, the best bit was the garlic bread! I finished it in about 5 minutes, completely unsatisfied. My husband ordered the enchiladas and they were stone cold in the middle, not lukewarm but actually cold! We were horrified and took it back to staff to complain. 10-15 minutes later and he's still without a meal, by which point myself and my father in law had finished ours so we had to go and ask again for his meal to be replaced which it eventually was. Staff member marched out without a smile and plonked it on the table saying "they you are", no apology whatsoever. Again, it wasn't piping hot, only just warm. Couldn't wait to get out the place. I'm not one to complain but having spent the weekend with our terminally ill grandfather, all we wanted was a quick and easy dinner and we got anything but. No apology, no refund, no nothing. Judging by the other reviews, we are not the only ones to be let down by this place, the management and chefs ought to sort it out before they make someone ill. Will certainly not be coming back and will be encouraging others to avoid it!

Pretty busy when I arrived with my partner for dinner. Staff seemed busy but still smiley and polite. Ordered drinks and was indecisive about which gin to have - Hollie was serving me and helped me pick! What a nice touch. Food was on offer, steak for Β£6 or something similar which is really good value. Will definitely be back - felt very welcome.

Was a bit disappointed that the Manager chose to chastise "Ryan" for something whilst mid serving me and I didn't get told that the Β£3.15 soft drinks weren't refillable, tad awkward, resulting in my drinks being slammed on the bar by a clearly embarrassed Ryan, who had been lovely to that point. Food was nice, delay wasn't long and portions were as you would expect. Would definitely go again if in Hull (hoping the Manager sees this and acknowledges he perhaps could've waited until after serving a customer to speak to his staff about another issue)

First time I'd been there. Very big place, very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. We were a group of 11. No problem. Quick service and food good and hot. Have to go to bar to order. Impressed and certainly will go back.

Brilliant service food absolutely delicious staff Brilliant. Only problem is didn't expect to see mice traps under where we was seated. Couldn't let child out of pram because of the traps. I had the bogoff burger absolutely πŸ˜‹

Very nice. Great mixed grill, but I didn't have chips I had mashed potato which they kindly did for me. Sorry to say the mash was like pollyfilla, there again it's usually like that at other places too. Otherwise great food.

Linda Hicks and I regularly go to this pub. We have never been disappointed. Wheelchair accessibility is excellent the staff are friendly and helpful. A special mention of Laura behind the bar who is the best. The food is always excel and the cleanliness is top notch. We look forward to our next visit and would like to recommend The Whistling Goose to everyone.

First time ever having xmas dinner not at home, and won't be the last. From walking through the door to leaving the service was impeccable. Despite being quite busy we were attended to really well. The four course xmas dinner was absolutely delicious and served really hot, the waiting staff were attentive and professionally, thank you for an excellent day

Saturday visit 29th. Well we did go back, the place was cleaner and looked fine. Sat down, checked the menu and went to the bar to order. Well rhere was one girl at a till with a queue of about 6 people so I moved along to another lady serving a guy. When he left she shot off and was working the glass washer. After another 5 minutes a guy came & waited 5 mins then left, so I ended up having to ask 3 people if I was going to get served.. I had been waiting 15 minutes whilst girls walked back n forth behind the bar. They didn't have all the ingredients to make pina coladas. The food I will say was very good indeed. Wife had cajun dry rub chicken and I had a beef rib skillet. Plus a portion of bone out wings for 2. Full of flavour, hot and mighty fine. Excellent food. We had no check back and two tables in our area had dirty glasses on and dirty plates. The place was busy with a fair number of children in. So, food is spot on. Service very lacking. Come on Green King, train your staff. Original first visit. Not a good experience. Wife & I popped in at 7pm ish Sunday. On first impression it seemed ok, then we saw the mess under tables and on the floor. Chips, napkins and bits of paper everywhere. So got in sat down selected food n drinks and off to the bar I went. There was just 2 behind the bar and around 8 adults trying as well as getting drinks. The problem was it took HALF an hour before I got seen. Ordered food ok then asked how much the gins were to a don't know. So I asked her to look up the price of a double, so a Bombay came in at 5.50. Now next to the till was a board that said choose gin, choose garnish (lime I said) and mixer. Didn't have fever tree light so schweps it was. Turned out she put lime cordial in and it was a cocktail that came in at nearly 8 quid. The food was okish, wife had a med rare rump which was overcooked but tasty. I had the big medium rib eye which was a bit chewy but cooked ok. It came with Mac cheese which was anemic. Not grated cheese grilled on top. Chips were Luke warm and rubbery. One guest beer on tap that was zingy, wife said pipes hadn't been cleaned but too late to do anything about it. Will we be back..... No

So I’m not one for leaving reviews to be honest but feel like I need to now I’ve been using the pub for pass 2 years and in the first 12-14months was two three times a week for tea or dinner with lads from work. Anyway the food always been good for what it is but they become low on and staff in the last 6 months and it started going down hill but been my local and so close to our house and work we still been giving it a chance. Anyway in last 2-3 months more new faces have been employed and New male Manger who seem quite helpful but the food has just been no good and has really gone the pan Anyway we’ve had busy day today and though we go again and hopefully it’s gone be better we’ll all I can say is it was just or bad or even worse the chefs need to try what there cooking and normally I’m not one for saying anything but when we did say something we was told to try some where eles by the manger and not to come back I feel sorry for the waiters as they are trying but the chefs and the manger are really letting the place go down hill big time looks like we will be finding new local to spend our money in Very very poor

First time I've been here in years my partner came a few weeks back and tried the chick 'n' mix meal, and has been waiting for me to go and try it as well. What can I say it was lovely really filling as well chicken tasted lovely as well as the chips, the drinks a standard coca cola was a little flat and rather expensive Β£3 each. Pub was not over busy but we used the app to order which makes it easier, the only gripe I had was the toilets. The main ones were out of order so had to go use the ones down far end, but 1 urinal was blocked filled with wee and the other 2 were dirty. Not the best situation to be in especially if it's busy at the evening times.

We had 2 meals off the classic menu and I had the spicy vegetable flatbread. We were all very happy with the food which was delicious. The vegetable flatbread was beautiful and I'd definitely come back for that again. Quite often vegan options at restaurants are light on the spiciness for some reason, but this had a really good level of heat. The staff were lovely and helpful, an all-round excellent experience. Many thanks to the chefs Josh and Becky.

The place wasn't busy so we ordered our food which took 50 minutes to arrive, the only thing that was warm were the plates, the meat was very tough and undercooked, the steak was very fatty and grisly. When ordering a pint of coke (Β£3.50) it wasn't even a full pint. The establishment wasn't the cleanest either... it wasn't very professional for the staff arguing in full view of customers.... certainly will not back. Complete waste of Β£60

This is a run of the mill green and king pub. The food is just what you'd expect from a place like this and so is the beer. Used to be a much better pub chain and in my opinion has gone down hill in recent years. Especially the selection of beers available is almost none existent.

First time I've been in years and it was a lovely couple of hours, the bar service was alittle slow due to only having two staff, it wasn't overly busy and but the food was great and really enjoyed my meal the only real bugbear was your Christmas tree looking like the Leaning Tower of Pisa πŸŽ„

Visited this pub with my wife, had a light bite and a beverage. The two bar staff, Stephanie and Laura were polite, courteous and professional in all respects. They were not just a credit to themselves but a great asset and ambassadors for the company. We were made to feel welcome and they supported by excellent meal.

We had a family gathering and can honestly say - it’s a fabulous venue. The actual pub is well laid out and spacious, the staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was all really good πŸ‘

Ordered food and was told 30 -40 minutes, it was busy so fully willing to accept that. After 1hr 10 minutes I go to the bar to find out what's going on to be told we were given wrong info. The server then comes to our table to complain about being given wrong info. 15 minutes later food arrives. I ordered rib eye steak rare with peppercorn sauce. Steak was chewing as hell and sauce was bland. Surprisingly no-one came to table to ask if meal was OK! Shan't bother again

Great food, but short-staffed. Still great service. Also a separate gluten free menu. Which I hadn't seen before

The whistling goose on the Sutton Fields industrial estate is a nice pub. A very large spacious pub. It has a children's play area, outside seating and plenty of parking. It's a nicely decorated comfortable pub. There is a pool table in a separate area. It serves good variety of pub food, plenty of choice for beers and cider but sadly no real ale ! Why? The other pub on the estate a few hundred yards away has three. The lack of a cask conditioned real ale for me is a deal breaker. However if you're not bothered by that it's a great place.

This place is good if you are just going to grab a beer. HOWEVER, the food is absolutely horrendous. There are flies everywhere (check the coffee machine) and one day I had a terrible night (vomiting, etc.) after eating there. Sometimes it can be very busy, and there are many loud drunks. The staff is friendly, but you can see they are really tired and understaffed. As I said, if you want to go there for a drink then it’s fine, but forget about ordering food (and they are not cheap for what they offer!!).

Never again. First time food wasn't great. But thought we would try again. Gets in finds somewhere to site buys our drinks. Husband goes pays for food a few minutes later a young girl comes to say they have to refund money for food. They can't cook it something to do with staff. There happy to refund but will take 3 to 5 days to go back in bank. Obviously didn't offer for the drinks we had litrally just bought to be refunded. Shocking place. Personally would avoid.

Long wait for food - told 45 minutes when I ordered but it was 75 - 90 minutes before it arrived. The chick-less sandwich was disappointing - consisted of meatless sausages on a bun and didn't taste particularly nice either. The staff were nice enough though.
