To be honest nothing was good. We arrived and were left waiting at the door for 5 minutes, even though staff saw us and it was not busy. We weren't even politely told that they would be with us soon or anything, just looked at and ignored. Eventually someone came over and saw us to a table and took our drinks order. We went to get in queue for carvery and a couple were in the queue before us. They were not being served yet and there were no staff there to serve the food. We were all left waiting for several minutes before a waitress finally fetched someone out. I didn't have meat as I'm vegetarian but the veg did not look nice, it looked dried out, some of it was overcooked and presentation was pretty dire. We were hungry though and plated up, it wasn't awful but some of the veg was dry and bland. My friend had pigs in blanket but they were so overcooked she didn't eat them, and both my friends said the turkey was undercooked. Customer service in general was not great, staff seemed bored and ignorant and did not seem to care about delivering good customer service. Would never go back to this Toby Carvery again based on this experience. It's a shame as I live in Lincoln and the Lincoln branch is much better

The host greeted us with a friendly smile and showed us to our table. The place was very busy and a long queue had already formed for the roast dinner. I was waiting in the queue for at least ten minutes. At the counter the chef was very efficient as he was on his own with only backup by staff replenishing the veg etc. The pork had finished, they renewed the beef but the gammon was still missing. We chose the Turkey which was perfectly roasted, moist and tasty. The roasts were a little over cooked and the peas were a little dry. The cauliflower cheese was great and so was the gravy. In all we had a lovely, tasty meal at a very reasonable price. Next time we may book a slightly later time.

Very busy because of your 50% offer, the staff were all great. Drink service could be improved on. We finished our meal then the drinks arrived. But we received a refund on the drinks so happy days. The staff did an amazing job considering how busy it was

Very busy, it was Bank Holiday. The queue at the carvery was long, but staff were efficient and the man on carvery was cheerful & helpful. The choice of carvery was good and we all enjoyed our food. A special mention to JUDY our waitress. An elderly member of our group has disability. Judy was extremely helpful, giving advise & making sure everything was OK 👍 Will return.

We were unfortunately disappointed with this restaurant, we arrived 10 minutes earlier than our booking to be informed that there was only gammon and pork left which is poor for 19.30 and peak dining time, however the welcoming host informed us that we could have sausages as well at no extra charge as a compromise - once we had arrived at the serving deck , the chef had other ideas and would only allow sausages instead of the gammon or pork and not in addition. One of our party ordered the vegetarian melt but was actually served a spinach and mushroom dish by mistake and he had to wait for another dish to be cooked whilst the rest of the party were eating. Finally there is still an issue with flies in this restaurant which is off putting when eating your food .we had the 50% voucher which softens the experience but would not be happy to pay full price for this experience in the future !!

Had the family there tonight, food was really nice. but waitress asked if we wanted pigs in blankets, yes we ordered 8 portions which came after we nearly finnished our meals, also burnt and some under cooked. was not told about refilling soft drinks but got charged £23.70 for nothing. Also charged for a pint we never had, or ordered. Management NEED TO TELL THERE STAFF TO EXPLAIN THAT TO CUSTOMERS...

Amazing carvery here last night with a choice of 4 meats and loads of veg. Loved the parsnips and sprouts, the only slight disappointment was no cauliflower cheese, just plain cauliflower. Really enjoyed all the food which was piping hot and tasty. We booked our table a few hours in advance without any issue and were seated and served quickly when we arrived. All staff were friendly, with my son commenting that the man on the carvery was nice - high praise from a teenager! And both of them want to go back again soon!

Great experience. Food was lovely, fresh and warm. Very family friendly with lots of helpful staff. Judy our waitress was so friendly and was great with kids. Really helped us out. Pete the Carver was friendly and helpful too. We love toby carvery but this was the most friendly one we'd ever been to and the food was too quality. Strongly recommend a visit if you're local.

Always a lovely place for a carvery! Good value, lots of variety, and friendly staff. We had a lovely lunch date today! A special mention to Sean the chef who was serving the meat - service with a smile. Yasmin and Claire B were very friendly and funny servers too. We enjoyed the banter!

I brought my grandparents in for a birthday and their anniversary yesterday and they were so impressed with the food and the service. the staff (Izzy C, Victoria and Kasey) were so incredibly friendly and no task was too much for them. We really enjoyed our trip thank you.

We came for tea on a busy bank holiday monday, was swiftly greeted by a member of staff called Phil, he seated us took our drinks order and asked about allergies, there was next to no queue for the carvery which was great and our table was quickly cleared once we had finished, great service all round 5☆

Tried getting in for a meal some time ago but it was full. So tried again. On arrival, we noticed the venue needed some TLC on the outside. Staff were well presented, helpful and polite. The carvery, not much options in the veg. The meat on this occasion was perfect. ( I had the turkey, beef and Gammon) for pigs in blankets it's extra (£4+ for 4 tiny pigs) It was a clean venue, but we still had hygiene concerns after a bottle of J2O and the glass brought to the table were covered in mustard. Are they keeping their hands clean. Leaving the premises, you have to pass through a petrol station. The slip road out is a little after a roundabout which people are accelerating from. Take care exiting as they often have the foot hard on the accelerator. Poor visibility exiting beware! Overall scores out of 10 ME. 5/10 Wifey 5/10 Son 6/10

The vegetables were fine, the meat left a lot to be desired.. one again the John Smiths beer was not available and as this is the only bitter they have it’s just not acceptable.. There was no beef on the carvery only a fatty scrag end, The turkey was practically down to the carcass.. What was left of the pork was overcooked and dry.. The only fresh joint that came out was the gammon… and this was in the fatty side also

We went there for Sunday lunch. The carvery was absolutely delicious. Plenty of options on meat and vegetables. The roast potatoes are divine. Had a lovely honeycomb dream sundae. Would definitely order that again. Got refills on soft drinks. The place was large but very well managed. Very clean and warm. The staff were very helpful and polite. The gifting they are doing for the homeless is a very good idea. You can gift a meal to the homeless on Christmas Day for £5. Overall it's definitely a place I will go back to. The only downside is that the postcode in a satnav takes you to a wedding venue called the barn.

You know what, it's not half bad. The staff are usually really good and helpful. The food is the usual Toby Carvery affair, so it's not the Ritz, but it's fine. So overall a good experience and happy to go back 🤷‍♂️🙂

Went today haven't been for quite a while. Nobody at the desk so we walked into the restaurant and a waitress very coldly asked us if we were looking for someone I said no just a table. She said you had to wait at the front desk to be seated so I said oh I didn't see a sign to which she replied I'm sure if you look you will see it. I was gobsmacked how rude. I wanted to leave but my husband said stay. A nice man got us a table and we did see the sign eventually but it's not on the front desk. I got served by a nice young man at the bar and the lady chef was very friendly. Food was not as good as it used to be. This waitress spoilt it for me right from the off if you can't be civil don't get a job dealing with the public

Not a good first impression as we were totally ignored when we were waiting to check in , staff just walking past with no acknowledgement at all . Room was clean bed slightly hard . We ate here and were very impressed by a particular colleague I tried to catch her name I think it was Tia. Meal and service were very good . Huge concern about the fire door at the hotel being open every time we went in or out of the hotel . Literally anyone could get up to the rooms . It needs an alarm on it or something!!

Stopped here a couple of times a week for convenience. We had to attend hospital Mon-Fri for 7 weeks for my husband. This made a couple of days a week so much more easier for us. The carvery was great value for money and they certainly did not skimp on the tasty meat. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and pleasant. Although we could not book as never knew what time we would finish they always managed to accommodated us even when busy. Surprisingly although when busy there was never a queue for the food. It went very smoothly. Well done. Although we don’t live near enough to just pop in we will definitely be back when having hospital appointments.

I go here at least once a month (for the past year) and this Toby has always been consistently good. I would always recommend to book your table rather than turn up but the App makes it to book/amend your booking. The staff has always been nice and attentive and the food has always been hot and everything you'd expect from a Carvery. My only issue is that I always fill my plate too much and never have room for dessert 😂

Normal Toby. Not as good as some I've been in. The inside looked a bit tired. Mould in some parts of the corners. The location was good and a good sized car park. The veg and meat were cooked well. But I had two roast potatoes that were not cooked in the middle. Fortunately I had plenty of others. Good value. Staff just ok. The chap serving the meat was very good . Happy and having a laugh with us. The table was clean . Wouldn't go out my way to go again but maybe pop in if driving past.

A very good place where you can eat well at a low price. Food quality is very good. The staff is sometimes too busy and you have to wait but they are smiling and friendly. As a recommendation it is not necessary to have 3 times repeated potatoes on the table, think fresh salads will be a great addition.

Christmas lunch --- delicious food & very friendly atmosphere. Our main course from the Carvery was laden with choice & everything looked very tempting. The waiting staff were excellent & there were no hold ups or problems of any kind. It's a shame that some customers piled their plates yet left much of the food untouched!

Carvery itself was lovely, the staff need some work. Was seated relatively fast however the majority of staff completely ignore you when you try to ask them a question or get their attention. planned on getting a desert but was ignored for 10 minutes so just asked for the bill.Waited 30 minutes to get the bill despite asking multiple times. Lots of young staff were more interested in standing in groups and talking rather than serving customers.

We visited a few weeks ago and the food was really good. We recommend it to family and went with them last night, this time I thought the food was poor it was only Luke warm , veg not brilliant and not as much choice. Staff hard to get hold of for desserts and the bill ,not very helpful. Our family and us won't be returning after last night's meal. We returned tonight to give it a second chance and wasn't disappointed, food was hot and plenty of choice out too, guy on the carvery was polite and helpful, other staff friendly and helpful, changing my rating to five stars, please keep this up and we will be back

Didn't give us enough time to sit before asking what we wanted to drink. We all had a carvery which was only warm the plastic spoons to pick your vegetables up were hotter than the food. No lamb on, when on menu it was, but told it is only on on a Sunday. Brought bill to us when everyone else was paying at the till wasn't ask if we wanted a dessert. One of the waiters was placing cutlery on a table, when placing a fork down he was holding the prongs of the fork. Won't be going back there again if we are ever in the area again as we had a few days at raywell Lodge.

Food was nice , thought we would eat outside sunny day, realised funny stinking smell , don't think these ashtrays get emptied , put me and the wife right off

We had to wait to get in again even though we had booked. Some of the meat was gone so there were less choices. I think the food should be refreshed much more frequently. The service was much better than the last time. It was lovely being with family and friends again.

As carveries go, Toby is usually a good bet. This is true enough here, and if you're after a gigantic portion of roast dinner then this could well be the place for you. The staff were fine, if a little indifferent. Food is self-service but the process wasn't explained very well to us when our drinks order was taken. The drinks took a while too, but for about £12 a head you can't really complain!

  • 4/5 Paul C. 1 year ago on Google
Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Food was nice and very reasonably priced. My only criticism is their was only a small choice of vegetables compared to some other carvery places but that doesn't put me off visiting again.

We visited the previous day to find the restaurant was full and we had not booked, the bar area had seats available although did not accommodate the 4 of us. There was a big table with only 2 people sat on it so if staff had been allocating people to tables in the bar instead of people sitting where they want, space would be used more effectively. However we booked and came back the next day as the kids were disappointed, it was quieter and we came a bit earlier, our waitress Danielle was brilliant and so attentive, very polite and friendly to us and the kids 😀 We love Toby and will definitely return.
