Very Nice and Clean hotel. Staff is very good and the best thing is their hospitality. Breakfast buffet and live kitchen food is awesome. Chef can prepare something of your choice also. Rooms are a bit cozy. But overall experience is good. It’s a good hotel to stay and have food. Best is the city view from Hotel. Wonderful view.

Nice location. They offer a great variety at breakfast. I loved their rooftop bar, has one of the best views. The rooms could need abit of polishing.

Protea Hotel by Marriott is the epitome of luxury in Kampala. It's sheer size, glass windows, high rises, exquisite finishings, lighting, it's a pure marvel 😍😍😍 We made our way to the hotel at night. I had seen photos of the hotel but coming up and close the gigantic hotel, the lights in the glass building blocks lit-up the entire surroundings and enhanced the delicately designed hotel. Just by the parking lot, you could tell the class of the guests. It was quite late, but joyful faces welcomed us with warm smiles. Since it was our first time there, we needed help around to the rooftop since we couldn't easily figure it out. The hotel staff quickly offered directions that led is through wide well lit corridors brightly lit with white tiled luxury floors. Through the wide glass windows, we see a luxury swimming pool, with soft lights illuminating through the entire pool area. The rooms are premium with all the fancy amenities money can offer. They are befitting of the price tag. It's also wise to reserve because you may fail to find available ones as a walk-in. We got to the rooftop and we were mesmerized. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 The views of the city were amazing. The lounge was themed with black and warm lights. Pleasant music set the party hood. It was surreal. Surely left a mark, 😍

I’ve not stayed here yet but I’ve been to the bar 99 to enjoy the views. If you can go on a clear sunny day to watch the sun set it’s once of the most beautiful sights on Kampala city, especially seeing the sun go down. Really needs to be a sunny day. I like to go around 4-5, get some good seats and chill till evening time. You will Definitely get some instagramable pictures. When I stay over I’m going to to do a re-review. Just for the view I’ve given 4 stars.

The view is breathtaking. When the construction was taking place, I planned to use the Hotel high vintage view of Kampala to take good photographs. This came to pass many times when I have used the open air party lunge at The Skyz to take shots of the Sun setting over the horizon of Kampala. The Skyz has ample parking, tasty food and friendly staff.

Protea hotel Skyz Kampala is a beautiful sight to behold. It has a very wonderful seren, clean environment, 24/7 power supply, good reception staff, good security from the entrance and a wonderful service delivery from staff. Esther calls every evening to know how you are doing with so much care and Rose is always with a smile while serving at the restaurant. The cleaners are good and well behaved. It's actually a home far away from home It's a quiet environment with a swimming pool, a bar, a gym, good room space. I love Protea hotel Skyz Kampala. I will always be back when next I visit from Nigeria.

Do not come for bussiness on weekdays. Simply, it is impossible to sleep. Hotel held parties in open areas with loud music till late (midnight or more). Reception don't answer to give a solution. Some people in the hotel service are kind and nice, sadly some others definitely are not happy with their work. I do not recommend the hotel, you can find smaller places with better services around.

Sky's is great. To say the least. One of the Country's best. Always a great experience. From the art filled ambiance, to the charm, to the amazing scenaries, food and customer service. Watched a Man U match and was happy to win. My friend loved their cocktails. As the food softly melted in our mouths, the 360* night view of Kla City left us yearning for more.

Centrally located yet far enough away from town that you can focus on your meetings without too many disturbances. Winner best 4-star hotel in Uganda! Beautiful, classy staff uniforms. Good breakfast buffet. TIP: tea is served with fresh groundnuts, making an affordable light snack. #diaryofamuzungu #eastafricatraveldirectory

I loved my stay here. The rooms are spacious and cozy. Bathrooms extremely big. Not so good thing is that the air conditioner is positioned right about the bed and hits you right in the face. The food is fantastic and service is warm. Great internet speed and a well stocked gym.

The Christmas brunch was amazing. The meats were great, beef, goats and chicken. However, the sea food wasn't done well. It was lacking in taste. There were no lots of kids games as had been advertised, there was only a lame bouncing Castle. However, the swimming pool is great, the traditional dancers were nice too for entertainment.

Great location. Great view. But the restaurant and bar service is terrible. Went on a Sunday evening and wasn’t very pleased. Took like 20 minutes just to get a menu and another 20 to get our drinks. The food and drinks are highly priced and absolutely not worth it. Wouldn’t recommend the Indian food unfortunately. It was very underwhelming.

Skyz Hotel is, without a doubt, the finest hotel in Uganda and my absolute favorite among Marriott properties. I never consider staying anywhere else when I'm in the area. The staff is outstanding, consistently delivering top-notch service. The culinary offerings are world-class, and the views from the hotel are simply breathtaking. I'd also like to extend a special thanks to the management staff who always go above and beyond to ensure my stays are exceptionally comfortable.

I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions and have had excellent experiences. On my most recent trip in December 2023, it was a bit difficult to sleep due to weddings/parties late in the night, but Muhammad and Esther worked with me to shift to a new (silent) room in a different part of the hotel. Additionally, Douglas (Wise) in the gym is the best fitness trainer I’ve worked with in years! He is internationally certified and the gym is great.

Horrible experience, do not stay here Liked · Shower pressure is good and lovely hot water. Disliked · When I arrive they gave away my room. I booked a club room with a balcony, I was given a standard room. After complaining they said the room described on the website isn’t always the room you get which makes no sense. I demanded a new room but they told me they’re completely full, I said I need my room I booked and miraculously a club room appeared. I believe they gave away my room as i checked in later in the day. The room they gave me had no city view as described, had a shared balcony, and was in another building called Eclipse. We were facing a village town, which was loud like incredibly loud parties until 5am and you’re then woken up by a chicken at 6am. Horrible. As we booked during NYE they failed to tell us they’d be celebrations etc so it was loud until 6am due to parties. Due to this they refused my guests to meet me who came from very far, as they weren’t allowing people in unless they had booked. This was extremely disappointing as when i complained to the manager they said it was a mistake and shouldn’t have happened after my guests had left. Absolutely ridiculous. My bathroom also flooded and when maintenance came they plunged the toilet and poo was flooding my entire bathroom floor. It was a complete disgusting mess. Every single member of staff is useless and rude. They have no customer service whatsoever, this place is genuinely the worst hotel i have ever been to and wouldn’t stay here if they paid me. Please save your money and stay elsewhere.

It indeed makes you sleep in the "skies" as you view Kampala from up. Their rooms are big and executive. However, their beds and small looking at rooms. Their menu is accommodative as there is a variety of foods both local and international. I enjoyed Kampala views.

It’s definitely the most beautiful place to dine in Kampala. You get to have a variety of views like; pool side view, full city view from ninety9 restaurant and various other seating area I have to explore. Definitely one of best African tea and it comes with peanuts for only 20,000UGshs and amazing bbq we had at the pool side for 45k. And the live band was amazing. They rocked it all evening

Terribly overpriced. The hotel may share the Protea branding, but don't expect the quality to match. I wouldn't have booked had I known there is a live band outside the room on a Thursday.

Sorry, but the experience of staying in the hotel is completely spoiled by the terrible noise of the music & bands that played around the pool both nights we were there. If the hotel insists on create this unbearable noise pollution for guests in rooms, then the least they should do is to make the rooms noise-proof.

Great customer service at the hotel, a great view of Kampala and the suburbs. The Ninety nine roof top bar is the winner. They have good barbecue and drinks prices are affordable. But the view from up there is spectacular. All free entrance.

Was at ninety 9. The cocktails were amazing and would recommend you to go there, and the ambience was chill, which was nice. Definitely go and try the cocktails they are worth all the money and then some, and they have great quantities. Sadly, I can't remember the cocktail names.

Well Skys is a beautiful place, didn't get to tour all around, was here for just a wedding but regardless the room we occupied was beautiful, service was perfect, someone was assigned to us and he kept checking on us the whole time, the food....ohhhhh the food....really good. For the buffet the options were enough and everything was on point. Also had a mojito, the lemon was abit alot but a mojito will always be a mojito, It is a beautiful space for any kind of event.really beautiful spots for pictures too😂 I also love the concept of using glass to act as a rail .

We had an early dinner at the rooftop, I got the butter chicken with rice and naan and a New York cheesecake for dessert. My butter chicken was flavourful, the pepper was just right and the cheesecake was heavenly. My colleagues had the grilled chicken, salmon and another pork ribs. They all loved their food except for the pork ribs which were slightly over stated however the butter sauce which they were served with offset the salt.

By far the most client-centered hotel I have stayed at in my many years of international travel. From the guards at the main gate, to hotel management, you feel this strong sense of belonging. Special thanks go to Steven at reception who served as an entry point for me to stay at the hotel for 13 days (the suite was impeccable). I literally changed hotels within a day of speaking to him. Esther - whom I coined the queen of the hotel - thank you for making sure that everyone’s stay is personalized as much as possible. For me in particular, many thanks for regularly checking in to make sure I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. She will literally make sure she knows every guest by name and need. And to the hotel general manager, Mr David Mugabi, what a surprise belated birthday gesture for me as a random guest! The hotel is a massive ship and you steer it so well. Can I also say that you have a carefully selected group of restaurant staff who are polite, caring, quick to react, and just full of smiles. I don’t know how you did this but keep everyone of them for as long as you can. It has been a pleasure staying at the hotel and with the current state of management, I would certainly stay there the next time I am in town.

Beautiful place located in the heights of Naguru, which gives an amazing view of part of the city. On site, there is a wide choice of restaurants and bars. my favorites are the eclipse and the 99.

  • 1/5 Alex G. 1 year ago on Google
Where to start: Structure is all over the place, confusing. Room I was given was on top of the pool bar which had incessantly loud band. Check-out experience was terrible, tried to charge me for breakfast that was included only to claim that "that I *may* have had a second person". Thankfully fought and refused to pay but almost missed my fight. Two good things about my experience- the airport pick up was amazing and there is a great rooftop bar.

If i could give it “No Star” rating i would , i don’t know where to start unclean toilets full of bugs to bad and slow service at restaurants (the chef is horrible) , one small elevator serving each building at the hotel so if you are in a hurry you will wait for so long or take the stairs. Not recommending it at all.

Come here for the views, for sure! Cocktails and beers are also great too. Food is forgettable, don't bother ordering food. You'll also wait a pretty long time for it (there weren't that many people when we ordered food). But beers and a view at the rooftop bar during sundown is a great idea. Ninety9 is the bar name.

This is a quaint hotel located atop one of Kampala's many hills with a great view from the roof top bar. The rooms are spacious and very clean, hotel is well maintained; however, only two issues during my visit. The first is the elevator was not reliable so I got in my extra exercise going up and down stairs. The second was my room was in a terrible location. Located on the second floor across from the restaurant meant extra noise to contend with. In addition, there was a wedding taking place on my final day. This meant a lot of construction of some tenting immediately across from my room on the terrace above the restaurant. This cause hammering and banging for most of the night. Three calls to reception did not resolve the issue, meaning I got very little sleep during my final night before a 23 hour travel back home. Very annoying and management did not make any effort to compensate for this inconvenience at all. Had it not been for the above, probably would have given 4 stars, but the inconvenience and lack of management support took a star away. It would have been nice to have my late check out comped due to this so I could get extra sleep before my trip home.

Offers great views of Kampala especially at night. Worth a visit, but don't forget to carry you wallet. It can get financially prohibitive for somebody on a lean budget.

  • 2/5 Robert M. 2 years ago on Google
Beware, this is a three star hotel, regardless of the price you pay or the beautiful pics you see on line, you get 3 – Star service at this hotel. AAA defines Three-star hotels as having some unique amenities and provides quality service. Well even with that definition, this hotel failed at providing quality service. From the arrival through my early check out (3 days out of seven I had planned), their staff was terrible. They behaved as if they didn’t want to be there at all, which I can understand since I noticed that their shifts were at least 12 hours long. The reception was poor and they didn’t recognize my elite status with Marriott. At checking, unbeknown to me, they charged my credit card for the full amount of my stay instead of putting a hold as it’s customary. Our rate was inclusive of breakfast, and every time we went into their restaurant, their service was extremely slow, and poor. While the hotel was mostly empty, and never had more than two or three tables full, it would take 30 to 40 minutes to get your food, and by the time you got it, it was cold. I complained about it on the first day, but it was the same for dinner, and again for breakfast until I decided to check out on day three. Upon check out, that’s when I found out they had already billed me for the seven days, and they allegedly gave me a refund for the excess days. But four weeks later, I have not received that refund, and I had to contact both AMEX and Marriott to conduct an investigation on this hotel. If you are a Marriott member and you are used to Marriott service DO NOT GO to this hotel. If fails to meet the Marriott standard in every way. I do not recommend this hotel at all. It is a rip off.

Ninety9, the lounge boasts a spectacular view. Service is good but slow. The were private parties downstairs in the other spaces and a band playing at the restaurant but the sounds weren’t competing with one another. It gave the impression of being very private and secluded. I would recommend a person host their party there or visit the bar.

The environment is beautiful however the customer service is poor, the waitresses and waiters are slow. Orders take hours to get ready that's if the waitress gets the order right. Their food is horrible and too expensive for nothing, the fries were rotten and smelt stale. I would never recommend this place to anyone or go back there for that matter.

We checked into this Hotel for a wedding almost 2 months. We were told the wedding attendees had a discounted rate for that weekend which the receptionist (Mohammed was his name) refused to honor for whatever reason (which we chose to ignore). However, as we were trying to check in after patiently waiting in line , another group shows up starts to flirt with the same receptionist and negotiate prices which was shocking as we had been told the prices were fixed and non-negotiable. The receptionist then started to go back and forth between us and this party/group he was clearly flirting with yet we were there before them and even waited in line. We still chose to ignore all of that. Upon getting to the room on the very first night we had no hot water and that was the end of my patience.... when we called about it we waited 45 minutes before someone came to look at it. The person showed up with very muddy shoes, walked straight to the bathroom and after several minutes all he said was "we use solar and it was raining all day today" At that point we just said thank you and he left. The question on my mind was did the receptionist not know about them using solar or was this maintenance person trying to leave since he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the water? I would overall not recommend this place to anyone its overated/over priced for no reason. The food is good. That's by far the only good thing I have to say about it. 3/5 star review is for location everything else I would give no star at all.

We had such a great experience, great service and memorable view. Esther and Muhammad made our stay here very comfortable and memorable, their hospitality was valuable to our vacation. Their warmth and smiles kept us happy.
