ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) --Β A doctor was in court Wednesday afternoon on charges of medical malpractice involving more than a dozen patients. The case here dates back to October 2009 when Dr. Denise Crute performed the surgery on Poplar Grove patient Mary Friday. The surgery was intended to help Friday with lower back and left leg pain. During those discussions, Friday found out that Crute had lost her medical license in Colorado because of numerous complaints about her medical practice from long before Crute came to Rockford. Friday confronted Crute, who, along with OSF, allegedly lead Friday to believe that those charges had been cleared, when they had not. Friday went through with the surgery and now is disabled because Crute performed the surgery on the wrong side of Friday's spine. The defense attorney told 23 News that he doesn't believe Friday has enough evidence to prove that Crute was negligent in the way she performed the surgery or that OSF was negligent in hiring her. For that reason, he believes Friday doesn't have a case. 23 News reached out to Crute's attorney, but he said it was too soon to comment. Friday is asking for more then $50,000 dollars in damages and fees. They are scheduled to be back in court tomorrow morning.

This is the worst place I have ever been. The staff and doctors don't Listen and are rude and only care about taking your money.

Refused to hear me when I asked them to lower my medications because I felt I was taking way too much. Actually had to quit taking my drug tests to get them to stop with the overmedicating. Walked away from here and never looked back. Incidentally, I ended up getting off of all of my medications, and am living a much better life of reduced pain. If all you're interested in is getting medications, they will give you all you can take...if real help is what you're after, go somewhere else besides a Rockford Pain Mgmt. Doctor. I've been to 3 different ones in Rockford, this office included, and everyone I've asked for a referral to a good Pain Mgmt. Doctor has told me the same thing...don't go to Rockford Doctors, find someone nearer to the city.

Place is absolute garbage. Got treated for back and neck pain that never worked. Was told before treatment that I would need to time off from work or working out but after treatment was told it probably didn't work because I haven't been resting. Here i am in even more pain than I started with. Also went in for another problem and they didn't even test the part of me that hurt. The doctor didn't even know what part of my body she was looking at in the ultrasound results and wanted to start treatment without even testing the area where the pain was. She continued to get snappy at me for calling her out on this mistake. I wouldn't go here unless you're into wasting ur time and money

Didn’t help at all. Kept changing diagnoses and they ALL ended up being wrong. Dr Crute didn’t act in my best interest and put me through a lot of unnecessary procedures. I see why she lost her medical license in Colorado. She actually told me my problem was that all my spinal fluid had drained into my back which makes absolutely no sense at all.

I don't feel like they had my best interest at heart they put me through many unnecessary procedures and treatments based on dr. crute and dr.cevene's diagnoses which all ended up being wrong. I found a new place and dr and got the help I needed instantly and i was correctly diagnosis with a simple xray.

I have had peripheral neuropathy for about 10 years or more with pain, tingling and numbness in my feet especially at night when β€œtrying” to sleep. The first week of January I started a program with RPM to get some relief. After just 6 weeks, I could tell there was much improvement. In late March, I complete the therapy with very good results. My feet are at least 70 to 80% improved and I have no pain at night and I am sleeping very well. I can highly recommend this company. The management is very easy to work with and the staff is friendly, helpful and very good.

Everyone at RPM is kind and patient with me. I have Fibromyalgia and sometimes I just can't do some of the exercises. Or I wasn't able to come in due to bad days and I would call in to cancel my appointments. Nobody ever complained or made me feel badly about it. I will be coming back for more physical therapy in the fall for my back. Also their injections helped me immensely in my knees. Going to try them in my back again in the fall. Now I have spinal stenosis in my neck and have migraines so I am sure I will need something for that too. Thank you especially to Steve he was my favorite Physical Therapist and was the absolute best at what he does!

Very expensive program. Dr is nice but other staff had poor customer service. I would not recommend this route for weight loss. Hard work and dedication is much cheaper.

These folks are amazing. They have all the breakthrough knee ... back ... hand ... hip ... shoulder ... pain remedies ... These folks are beyond awesome !!!!!! A+++++++++ .. The best in Rockford. I thought my right knee was gone. Back in 1992, my orthopedic wanted to put metal knee but I refused. if i followed that Id be on my third knee in a wheel chair. Rockford Pain Clinic got my knee back to 100%. Thank You Thank You. Why in the world would anyone want a metal knee? I walk and ride my bike as much as 20 miles each day. Ski in the winter. Remember once you get the metal knee your stuck with it. Most people with metal knees will need a second replacement sometimes a third (wheelchair!!! electric chair, plastic boot, Maybe!!!!) or they might get a metal knee that is a factory lemon!!!! Why would a lady or gentleman want a 8 inch or more scar in the front of their to right or both knees? Anyone home. My dear friend went to the hospital for a metal knee and never came back. I tried to talk him out of it but he would not listen. He died shortly after surgery in the hospital. My dad went in for knee surgery on the left leg and got a horrible infection at the hospital and lived in a rehabilitation center for almost 2 months. A year later he got hyalogen injections on the right knee and had zero pain or trouble. He wanted to do the same with the left knee but his painful left metal knee could not be injected. too late He was in pain for over a year. Remember that after a metal knee you can no longer get stem cell or hyalogen injections in that knee. My knee is bone on bone. Dr. O'Saben did the hyelagen .It was a painless procedure for me. The injections work. No walker, no cane, no metal knee, no wheelchair. No ugly 8 inches plus scar. I am so thankful. Thank You Rockford Pain Clinic.

Treatments helped ease my peripheral neuropathy, but other treatments were not able to help my lower back pain. The treatments were usually pleasant, especially the massaging of the feet and lower legs for 10 minutes at a time. The therapists were all very friendly and competent. Zach even immediately remembered my name after I had not been there for 6 weeks.

I saw them advertise on FaceBook for a free lunch and seminar on Pain Management. I have chronic lower back pain and neuropathy. I called a friend in Janesville, who was facing knee surgery on both knees, after exhausting all other treatment options. We went for the lunch at a local restaurant (delicious) and signed up for private, individual consultations at their clinic the next week. We came back, they gave us the free consultations and performed a benefits review. I have never received a bill; they made sure everything was covered. Their approach is very holistic, and they use unusual (but all FDA approved) therapy methods which get you off pain meds, all without surgery! I am so impressed and grateful I found them! Currently I am working with a Balance Specialist to reduce my risk of falls. As for my friend who was facing knee surgery, she went from a walker to a cane and now walks unassisted pain free .... all without drugs or surgery. I am referring more friends! Thank you everyone at RPM!

Prior to starting treatment with RPM my knee pain was unmanageable. The PT staff here is very knowledgeable, caring and friendly. I am half way through my treatment and my pain has been reduced greatly with the PT and the series of injections I have had so far. I am grateful for this facility, I am able to get back to yard work again without the pain I had previously. A big thanks to Dr Osaben and the PT staff at RPM.

This place has nice people that work there. Especially when it comes to the massage therapy and physical therapy they are very caring. My only disappointment is that the scheduling and front desk are not efficient and are very disorganized when it comes to appointments and follow up it seems like they had no idea about what was going on. I was given therapy for 3 times a week and was only scheduled once a week and I wasn’t aware of my treatment plan til they were no longer able to allow physical therapy because my treatments plan was over due and needed to be reviewed. Seem very disorganized and was very frustrating but I really appreciate the workers and their hard work and positive attitudes. Lastly wasn’t thrilled about the Dr. Crute denying my EMG when I needed it and found out I had two pinched nerves. She is not very good at effective communication and changed my treat without telling me. Usually very awkward with her visits she is very quiet and just types most of the time.

Physical therapists are very experienced and listen to you about your pain. Drs also help with your pain issues. I have been a patient on and off for 25 years. I do believe without treatment from Dr Cevene and Dr Crute I most likely would be in a wheelchair by now….

I saw the chiropractor, it was a whole new experience. I was used to just being adjusted. Not ever realizing my body was being traumatized by how they would just force my body one way or another. But this Dr. He put me on a table that moved and stretched my body I could hear a few pops here and there , but he keep on stretching my lower back and my hips. When that was done then he did the adjustment, it was the smoothest adjustment I have ever had. I walked out of there feeling pretty good. My old Dr used to tell me well you will either love me tomorrow or hate me. If you hate me call and I will fit you in. I don't think with the way they do it here it will ever be that way again for me.

I have been going to RPM for over 1 year. My neuropathy in my feet has been greatly diminished. I look forward to my appointments ev ery week. I was going 2x a week. Now only 1x per week. The atmosphere is always cheerful and greatly uplifting. The workers really care about their patients. I would recommend their services to anyone needing pain relief.

My experience at Cevene Care Clinic is amazing! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable by answering any questions you may be concerned about. Coming here to Dr. Jason for a chiropractor care routine relieves every pain quickly in my back and neck. Went to a few places and it was a horrible experience. This place beats it all for chiropractic care by Dr. Jason!

Unreal results after only 2 months in the program. If you are open to a lifestyle change for the better, then this is your ticket. Down over 63lbs, 6 inches off my chest, 8.5 inches off my waistline, and 6 inches off my hips. RWL is all good in my book.

Program work if you are serious about making a life style change. Medications will slowly fall of your list if you stick to the program. This is a life style change not a quick fix. I am so happy to have met everyone I have worked with, personal is excellent , caring and helpful.

I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. They have everything, massage therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic and doctors. Everyone is very knowledgeable, friendly and they truly care about you. During my first experience with them in 2016, I ended up in the hospital. They sent me flowers. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I have tried to make an appointment at this place and have received mixed information. I signed a release so they could get the "required" recommendation from my doctor, but then I NEVER heard ANYTHING back from them... NOTHING. Apparently they were stringing me along. So I contacted them a few weeks later, after having gone to the ER 3 times in the last 10 days, and getting to the point that I am screaming in pain, getting stuck in the bathtub for 4 hours, getting stuck on the floor, and having to crawl around my house because the pain is so bad. The back surgery place in the same building told me to just go to the ER for a 4th time! This place told me that NOW I needed to find a NEW PCP in Rockford before they'd see me... so now I'd wasted 3 weeks and not known it, They never said anything about there being a problem with my L.A. PCP- I mean they even faxed them!!! . ... Cause of Covid it's hard to find a new doctor for anything, which is why I'd kept my old PCP, but now I've put in requests for a few new PCP's in the area, hopefully they are near the caliber of my L.A. doctors. Finally the person at the front desk when I called to follow up was extremely rude. She seemed to be almost suspicious or offended that I hadn't magically summonsed a PCP in Rockford during Covid times within a couple months also while being severely disabled with no car and not being able to use public transport cause I can't walk. I've never dealt with anyone ruder at a front desk except only once before.... amazing. How does she maintain her job here? If you are in agony and NEED HELP, go somewhere else!

I am presently receiving physical therapy on my right ankle that I had broken the last part of 2018 . It healed but is very weak and has pain when I walk on it. So doctor wants me to do physical therapy to strengthen it before a possibility of surgery. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. They are very accommodating and will work as much as they can so you have a good session. If I was to rate them on a 1 to 10 scale I would give them a 10.

I would like to thank everyone at RPM for helping me relieve my back and knee pain. The leg brace helped me walk and that also improved my back pain. I was able to go on vacation which involved a lot of walking up and down steps of cobblestone. You are all so very nice too.

I highly recommend this place if you have knee problems. The Physical Therapy group is great to, they are so friendly. And care how you are feeling. The front desk girls are very friendly when you come in and don't give you grief if you need to reschedule. I will be looking into other things there, as they don't just do knees, they do a wide variety of things. Thank You, for making me feel better! Terri
