Food is the best in Uganda. I enjoyed the three-course meal for lunch and dinner. There is a very quiet and beautiful garden with all kind of birds, and there is a kind owner. It really helps you with your trip. The accommodation is very clean and I liked the recycling policy here. I really miss the food here. The three dogs are also very lovely. If you go to Kibale, you must go there! You may feel that your room is a bit far away, but the kind owner accepted our request.

What a total gem! Location is fantastic- only a 30 minute drive to the starting point of chimp trekking. The views are amazing and there are a ton of great chill out areas on the deck. The grounds are beautiful with a ton of beautiful flowers and birds. The food was my favorite out of 7 lodges i stayed in during our trip to Uganda. The room was great and the bathroom was super clean and had a great shower. However, the highlight of our visit was the staff. They could not have been more accommodating or helpful - especially Brian! We were really grateful that they cleaned our shoes after our chimp trek. My only criticism is that the pool area could use some love. Just a heads up to those with any sort of physical limitations - the main lodge is down a steep path. Then the rooms are down another long-ish, steep path and stairs. I struggled a bit with my bad knee.

Isunga Lodge is one of the most serene places we’ve stayed in Uganda thus far. The cottages and main lodge have memorizing views of the Kibale Forest. The owners and staff were all very kind. There were many thoughtful little touches that made our stay a special one. I’d recommend Isunga Lodge to anyone looking to soak up the beauty of Fort Portal. We’d love to come back next time we’re back in Uganda.

Beautiful lodge. Especially the terrace close to the restaurant with it's view is amazing. The rooms are very modern style with comfortable bed. Tasty dinner and breakfast, excellent range of whiskey.

Amazing location with high level service. Gerard and Karen(the owners) are always there to say hello and their staff are very good. We really enjoyed the community walk also with Henry who’s from the nearby village so is incredibly knowledgeable

By far the best stay we had in Uganda. Nestled into the mountain facing Kibale Forest, every view from this lodge is picturesque. The room was absolutely perfect with great facilities. The bed, bathroom and lounge all facing Kibale Forest. Particularly loved the clean drinking water not from plastic bottles and the daily hot water refill for tea and coffee in the room. Service was impeccable, food was delicious, the clothes washing and shoe washing service after our trek was greatly appreciated, and we even got massages at our rooms. The drive to Isunga was also incredibly picturesque with recently graded roads.

This is a great place to stay, maybe the best we’ve had in Uganda. Gerard and his wife are great hosts and also the staff (Bran and the others) are amazing. And whoever is creating the food in the kitchen, thumbs up to you. The best food we’ve had. Overall, no doubts. Stay here and enjoy the view and the great hospitality.

Everything was perfect at Isunga lodge, beautiful rooms, attention to details, friendly, professional and very kind personal, excellent food! On top of that, awesome view on the forest and lodges are very well surrounded by nature, you can easily spot colourful birds from your room. Definitely highly recommended!

Its a wonderful lodge with a spectacular view. The rooms are spacious and very pretty. Staff is nice and they have many vegan food options. Prices are fair.

One of the best lodges in our Uganda trip, super nice personal, specially the owners, BEST FOOD and incredible views. We saw more different types of birds at the Lodge than at the park

We loved the Isunga lodge (Kibale) with its wonderful view, nice owners, the impeccable service and customer friendly attitude from the staff, the delicious and abundant food, the choice of local craft beers! The private cabin was over the top, plenty of space, nice decoration!

I was lucky to stay in that lodge for one night on 22/06/22 and wish I could have stayed more. Views are breathtaking, rooms are like mini flat really, very spacious, very clean. The decoration is minimalist and very natural, everything is in wood, with an African touch in every single room. I had the chance to talk with one of the owner, a very nice lady. Staff is also very nice and helpful at any time. Also it was the place where food was the best, we really enjoyed every single meal we had there. Finally, I loved to know the 3 dogs of the owners who are so so cute. I recommend that place 100% if you're going to do the chimpanzees trek, and if you can have more than one night there, lucky you !

I had the opportunity to stay 3 nights in this lodge with a friend in December 2022. Let me start with the location. 8min away from the main road, overseeing the Kibale national park forest, we had the sensation to be part of this luxurious gift of nature. Really the perfect spot to relax, to embrace nature and enjoy the sound of birds. The service. From the welcome to the daily treatment, we really felt at home. The staff is professional and really attentive to the needs of the customers. Bryan has been really lovely to us, as was Jennifer as well. The food and beverage. We have been very satisfied, not just by the consistency of the quality of the foods, but as well by the diversity of the dishes. On our last dinner, Elias and Sarah two of the cooks there, made us an incredible dish, including the desert. We were astonished by the flavours and the great taste. We have been touched as well by the owners, through their openness and interaction with the clients. We also appreciated the fact that they are recommending local guides for certain activities around. Well, our stay there has been marvelous. And I'm sure it will not be the last one.

It was probably the best out of our 6 lodges in Uganda. We were 100% satisfied. The location is perfectly situated, the gardening is so beautiful and the view spectacular. So inviting to just sit down and have a drink to enjoy. The staff is amazing and so considerate! The owners are very helpful, too and kind. The food was really delicious. Absolutely fabulous!

Isunga Lodge was the most lovely lodge and really worth the travel. The cottages are clean, offer lots of space and are so nice decorated that we immediately felt home. The service is great and the food is even better. We really enjoyed the pool, the sunset and view from the terrace as well as the wine while sitting on the campfire. An awesome place to enjoy and relax!

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE! Everything overlooks Kibale National Park the which makes for amazing views. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable, basically little chalets. The only thing to note is I would definitely let them know beforehand if you have any physical restrictions as the walk to some of the rooms can steep; nothing absurd for our average adult. The staff were very friendly and the food was the BEST we had in Uganda. Definitely recommend and we will be back. Only regret is that we did not stay longer!

Beautiful place to stay away from all the city life. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant with a view of kibale forest which is a home to chimpanzees in Uganda. Service at this lodge is efficient and the warmth may let you stay longer than anticipated.

A good place to be. Very good food. Our starting point for a exceptional experience, our chimpanzee tracking. Sustainability concept recognisable, filtered water, solar etc.

Amazing service at this hotel. Delicious meals. Nice views of the forest. You get to see the sunrise and sunset. Very serene and quiet. Don’t look any further while in Fortportal Kibale region. I will be back! Thank you!

Our favorite place of our Uganda trip: Best views from the restaurant, exceptional staff, and also the best food we had in all lodges in Uganda! Karen pays great attention to details and the quality of everything in the lodge! Highly recommended!

We had a beautiful stay at Isunga Lodge and we can highly recommend it to everyone coming to Uganda. Karen and Gerry are super hosts and we still miss the beautiful view from our veranda. I also want to mention the food... oh my god... so good! Hugs from Germany - Mario and Till

We just had an amazing stay at Isunga Lodge! The views are stunning in all directions, the family cottage was lovely and the food and coffee was the best we have had in Uganda during this trip. The staff made sure we were comfortable at all times, Lucy and Jennifer were very patient with our 5 year old and even helped rock our other small baby to sleep while we would enjoy our food. The staff helped arrange walks at Bigodi Swamp and around the crater lakes with community guide James, who made sure that both the 5 year old and her grandmother had a really good time. I am not sure how many kids come to stay at Isunga Lodge, but perhaps a small thing to consider, could be a more ‘child friendly’ option for the dinner menu - but perhaps it’s just our kid that’s a bit picky. Hands down, Isunga lodge is one of the best places we have stayed at in Uganda and will definitely be back!
